They took the test this morning. It was weird and annoying and the reflex was teary eyes, but really no more than that. Hopefully we’ll get the results today. Since I’m awaiting results I figured the safe thing to do would be to all stay home, it’s not mandatory since I don’t have a fever (My slightly elevated temp from yesterday went down within the hour... I guess taking your temp after a bike ride on the cargo with two kids is really stupid), so we’re all home. The kids have been playing nicely together for most of the morning!
I’m contemplating letting dd do a short course of ballet lessons, her friend signed up, it’s just five classes in the next five weeks and she’ll be over the moon happy.

Fingers crossed it’s negative and I’m glad you’re feeling better, @nam! Ballet class sounds fun for J!

GM everyone. It was weirdly cool this morning so I went out for a jog. And now just wfh. We’re going over to my SIL’s for dinner tonight.
B’s dance studio says they are opening registration tmrw so I’m also looking at new dance gear for her since she’s surely outgrown the shoes and leos she last wore in March.

Morning!
C is at school, I took B through CFA for breakfast, and now we’re puttering around the house until the mall opens (I need to make an exchange).

Got to work and immediately had to move 6 boxes down a flight of stairs, plus enough files to fill 2 more boxes. Seems like the more I box up and clear out, the more files appear needing to be boxed up.

Morning. Nothing but work today. Yesterday Mh said he thinks we have a mouse in the house because there was a hole in the bread. Literally me.. So I got some mouse traps and put them out last night. I did not check them before I left for work, because ewwww. I kind of hope that he’s wrong and we don’t have one in the house. I’m like HOW did it get in? HOW? I may call pest control today to see if they can do anything about it.

Is this where I tell you that I came home from work once like 5 or 6 years ago and was cleaning up the kitchen and went to put the lid on a glass jar of dog treats we kept on the counter and realized there was a mouse IN THE JAR eating the treats! I still have nightmares. I immediately put the lid on and got the hell out of there. I remember I picked C up from daycare and took him out for dinner while we waited for MH to get home and deal with it. I think it got in because someone didn't close the door into our house from the garage well one day and it was open for a few hours before we realized it.

Yes guster, today was Evie's first day of school. She was nervous, but excited. We talked about doing deep breaths through her tummy when she feels a meltdown coming, so I think she will do great. The drop off line at the school, though, what a shit show. We got there early, drop off started at 7:40 and we were in line with about 10 to 15 other cars by then. I dropped Evie off at 7:45, the parking lot was full, the road to the parking lot (probably 10 cars) was full, and the road that we turn off of, which is a main backroad into the city when you don't want to take the highway, had probably 40 cars sitting, waiting. As I was pulling into my neighborhood, the guy across the street was just leaving. He didn't get back home until 8:30. There is no way they got all the kids into that school by 8. Our parking lot was supposed to have 2 separate drops offs, K-1 in one are, 2-3 in another area, then 4-5 in another parking lot, to the north. The 2-3 parents couldn't get to their area because of the K-1 cars. There was no one in the 4-5 lot because people were stopped on the road, waiting to turn in or go past to turn in. It was a mess. I feel like I should just go park in the parking lot all day for what it will be like when it lets out. I will be that person in the parking lot at 2:30 for a 3:10 dismissal.

In this case, I agree with getting there early and just waiting. Now I’m glad we are doing AB schedule for the first week and half. At least everyone can figure out how drop off and pick up works without the whole student body there.

tgrimes , how's hurricane watch going? As of now, if Laura stays on her current path, it looks like the eye will hit closer to the border of TX & LA. So we should expect lots of wind, gusts and rain, but it won't be nearly as devastating as they thought yesterday for Houston. Probably just wind damage and loss of power. Looks like it could be a 4 when it hits. I feel terrible for those close to the border. They've really gotten pummeled the last several years.

It's a complete embarrassment watching my colleagues live up to the stereotype of olds who don't know how to computer when we do virtual morning check-ins. Holy crap. They use a computer every day for work have MDs. It shouldn't be this hard.

MH fell asleep last night when we were watching TV so I switched it to Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. Of course he wakes up and I have to turn it off because he's afraid. So far it's fine. I loved those books as a kid.

Is this where I tell you we have mice every year? It’s just one of those things... old houses, kids that leave crumbs everywhere, city live etc etc. I’m not really that phased by them anymore. We catch them in a animal friendly trap and release them in the woods 🤷🏼♀️.

mwhip the drop off and pick up line was a shit show on our first day too. The main Hwy leading to the school was blocked/backed up. There is no way around either. But day 2 went sooo much better.
