L’s school just announced plan B with distance learning. However they are offering child care at no cost (included in tuition) from 800-300. And normal extended care pricing for before or after school care. So it’s okay for the kids t be there but not be taught. They said they would help with the work. So I’m so lost. 🤷♀️

That's rough jewels . I'm glad you were able to find an alternative and his friend will be attending as well. It's still so crazy that we are all scrambling, trying to figure it out. Our school board announced late yesterday afternoon that the middle and high schools will start all remote, but elementary is in person still. People were pissed. School is supposed to start next Wednesday and things are still changing daily. The craziest thing to me, the older kids aren't going to in person school, but they still have sports. Parents were up in arms about their kids still participating in sports, even if they were electing for virtual learning. The question now is, who are these kids even going to play. Our school board was one of the FEW who opted to have sports if there was only virtual learning. Honestly, everything about this is such an embarrassment. Our country is the biggest joke. The grown-ups can’t get their stuff together and the kids are suffering for it. Dude knows that none of this makes any sense. It was his first day doing distance learning at a local childcare center that hired a teacher to facilitate their work. He asked on the way in why it’s okay to go there, but not his regular school. I have no good answers. This exactly. It's so frustrating. Our country is an embarrassment.

I took one day off yesterday and came back to a million emails and a ton of new assignments. I really wish my boss would pester about hiring until they finally find money in the budget. I mean, we pissed away ~$15k each for about 15 copiers years ago when our staff was larger because we had more money than we needed then. Since then our staff has shrunk dramatically yet our demand is still high so I don't see how money could be an issue. There's never money for people, just worthless crap we don't need.

They are doing the distance learning thing for the kids ON CAMPUS. LOLOLOL So, you can charge to have the kids come onsite to do ZOOM meetings, where their teacher sits in a classroom, alone, 100 yards away, but nobody can be in a classroom with a teacher. Just in a classroom with the child development teachers. Is it just me, or are you seeing a serious problem with a classist/educational divide here emerging not just among students, but those adults who have also achieved a certain level of education and have union protection?

jewels that’s sucky. A lot of people are taking advantage right now and it’s not cool. One parent told me the favorite teacher at their school quit and is doing private teaching. Based on what they were told the teach is going to be making 3-4 grand a week which is more then she would have made at the school. Good for the teacher but sucky for parents who can’t afford her now.

It's so effed up. I'm all for letting high risk staff go on temporary disability or some sort of adjusted work duty with less exposure. I fully accept that precautions/adjustments/restrictions need to be in place. But saying kids can be in a room with a daycare provider, but can't be in their classroom makes no sense.

Morning Everything blew up with the pod I was supposed to have S in. We had not yet discussed price with the lady but the other moms and I had discussed what we thought it would be. She finally got back to us and she charged $15/hour per kid. Which, for the hours I was looking for would have been $2600 per month. Even if I figured out how to just have him there for school hours and not a minute more, it would have been about $2300 per month. She was gonna have 7 1st graders. That's $105 per hour. Cash. School is remote with a teacher teaching them on the computer. So she'd be helping when they got into trouble and entertaining during the down time (which, depending on the hours we chose would be 2 hours/day, max). We provide all supplies/food etc. I am still pissed. I think she saw a bunch of moms stressed and took advantage. That is ridiculous. She needs a reality check.

trtlcrzy lahdeedah Thanks for confirming my thoughts. They can’t hold school but can hold child care that will help the kids do their distance learning they gave them.

mwhip and nam2013 I have to talk more to my sister but I’m pretty sure that they don’t ever expose him to sick people, I think they give him the injection and then draw blood at certain weeks and measure immune response. BIL has a PhD in chemistry from an Ivy League school. He has researched the ingredients and says though he’s not sure it will prevent corona, he feels confident that it will do him no harm so that’s why he signed up. They live in the middle of no where and he has always worked from home and my sister is a SAHM so they aren’t very high risk for exposure.

Hi!
C went back to school today. She was very happy to be there and barely gave me a backwards glance as she went in.
My sister and I dragged B with us to a couple antique and furniture stores. Needless to say, he is also ready to be back at school 😂 We rewarded him with CFA before picking up the little ones.
Tonight I’m taking dinner to a friend who recently had a baby, so I’m getting all that prepared now.

We got teacher assignments today and H’s teacher is a friend of mine. Her neighbor bestie isn’t in her class though, so that’s a bummer. I’m happy and ready for school to start at the end of next week. The girls got to sleep in the tent in the basement last night...but didn’t stay there all night because H got scared. She’s having issues sleeping down there in general and I don’t know how to fix it. She claims she sees ghosts and I keep telling her they aren’t real but she doesn’t believe me.

Oh, also. On Saturday I made an order online from old navy/gap. I got an email today saying they are cancelling my order because everything was out of stock...except if I go on the website it still looks like I can purchase. Super dumb. Guess I’ll be going to the store on Friday when the big girls are with MIL.

I’m sorry jewels that is so crappy. I also don’t understand all the school changes this late in the game. I do think a lot of this is political and it’s not even about the virus in some respects.

I have been trying to keep up here but between MH being back home, projects, the kids, getting together all the contractors for the reno, back to school decisions...ugh Also, this neighbourhood nail salon has caused quite the drama and I am sick to my stomach. For the first time in 10 years I felt awful being in my neighbourhood...so much that i took yesterday afternoon off and went to my cousins to let the kids play. I needed a break from the heaviness. But yet, I returned and the cloud is still here....blah
So as of right now i want to move to the woods tell everyone to go fuck themselves.

Guess I’ll be going to the store on Friday when the big girls are with MIL. That is crazy. Does it let you put it in your cart? When I was looking for a coat last winter, they had them on there, but once you went to go to the item page, it wouldn’t let you add it to the cart. Not the same thing, but I’m currently battling Athleta for an e gift card I never received. I cashed out my thred up money for a GC from there and was supposed to get the email from athleta and never did. I have talked to both companies twice and just finally getting somewhere. I want my money or credit!

Not sure if I wrote a general post.
MH is home. Finally! FIL took him home, but they had to make a pit stop at M’s school to pick up his device for the year. His grade gets an iPad to use at school and for DL if they should have to. we get teacher assignments next week. Two weeks until we start.
I have some errands to run before I go home. My dad wants to come up for a couple days and I have projects for him to do. His main reason for coming up was to make sure our yard is cut. 😂 #priorities I don’t have time to do it, so I’m grateful.
