It's gorgeous here this morning so I'm going to try to go run soon. My dad picked Evie up a bit ago and she's staying the night with them, last time for awhile since she starts school next Wednesday.
I think I figured out my shoes were the problem with my foot pain. I put them on last night and we did one slow lap (H and E were with me) around our neighborhood and my foot hurt just from that. So I got my new shoes out. Time to start looking for a new pair on sale, to keep put away.

GM - we’re on our way to the beach! The weather at home this morning was shitty and rainy so FX it’s nice further south.

Morning ladies. I called my school work boss today to ask her how things were at school and to say that I was a little uncomfortable being in large crowds (even if they are technically kids). She told me to stay home unless absolutely necessary to come in (iq testing, case meetings, advisory talks with parents etc.) I feel relieved, I’ll talk to my boss’s boss tomorrow to confirm if this is okay. I met a coworker/friend who has been on leave since May and had her baby early in June, I hadn’t met the baby yet, she was adorable . We met in a huge park, so Dd and her 2yo could roam freely, which was nice.

Hi! Still no word on when they will be coming out. I would normally take the kids to a mall to stay cool but obviously that’s not option. So I’m unsure of what we will do today. I can’t really leave either because they will only give us 20 minutes notice before they show up since they are squeezing us in and it’s a heat wave.

Have fun yummeecookee! How is your dog doing? kim22 one of the big local hospitals has been trying to get people to do clinical trials for a vaccine. I'm intrigued, but scared at the same time. Do I have to have direct exposure? What are the potential side effect, long and short term (I have this questions for a vaccine and Covid)? I'm glad people participate in these trials, but they scare me at the same time.

Morning
Everything blew up with the pod I was supposed to have S in. We had not yet discussed price with the lady but the other moms and I had discussed what we thought it would be. She finally got back to us and she charged $15/hour per kid. Which, for the hours I was looking for would have been $2600 per month. Even if I figured out how to just have him there for school hours and not a minute more, it would have been about $2300 per month.
She was gonna have 7 1st graders. That's $105 per hour. Cash. School is remote with a teacher teaching them on the computer. So she'd be helping when they got into trouble and entertaining during the down time (which, depending on the hours we chose would be 2 hours/day, max). We provide all supplies/food etc.
I am still pissed. I think she saw a bunch of moms stressed and took advantage.

Omg jewels , that was a total ripoff! I’m sorry it didn’t work out. Thanks. The aftercare program he does was also offering something and they had pre-registration available through this morning for those that were previously enrolled. So I quickly enrolled him in that. It's not ideal, and there are some things that I'm not too happy about with it, but I was afraid if I tried to fix the pod situation and find another teacher, etc, that I'd lose the spot. So he has a spot to go. His best friend also pulled out of the pod and signed up, so they will be together. I am trying to stay positive about it. But this all just sucks and I wish we had real leadership in this country so that we could have done a better job at eradicating this goddamn virus and be able to open schools like they did in other countries. Sorry. Rant over.

However, I really think S needs more structure than that. I think the whole, Monday you are at R's house, Tuesday L's house, etc. would just throw him off. Plus, I know 2 of the families, but not the others, and it would be weird for me to supervise strangers' kids and vice versa.

That's rough jewels. I'm glad you were able to find an alternative and his friend will be attending as well. It's still so crazy that we are all scrambling, trying to figure it out. Our school board announced late yesterday afternoon that the middle and high schools will start all remote, but elementary is in person still. People were pissed. School is supposed to start next Wednesday and things are still changing daily. The craziest thing to me, the older kids aren't going to in person school, but they still have sports. Parents were up in arms about their kids still participating in sports, even if they were electing for virtual learning. The question now is, who are these kids even going to play. Our school board was one of the FEW who opted to have sports if there was only virtual learning.

Morning! S is recovering nicely. But she did have a 15 minute seizure this morning that required rescue meds. So between the seizure and the meds, she’s zonked out on the couch now.
They have the device set on the lowest setting right now. Then every 2 weeks it will increase until it is at the level they want for her. So they said we would not see an immediate difference in her seizures.

Some of the private tutors and teachers they hired for pods in our area are set to make $140,000.

The grown-ups can’t get their stuff together and the kids are suffering for it. Dude knows that none of this makes any sense. It was his first day doing distance learning at a local childcare center that hired a teacher to facilitate their work. He asked on the way in why it’s okay to go there, but not his regular school. I have no good answers.

jewels, woof. That's shitty. I have a feeling there will be a lot of instances of people trying to capitalize off of this with the school situation. mwhip that's crazy that they are still making changes so close to the start of school. I can't even imagine having that short of time to scramble and try to figure something else. And eye roll to the sports situation. lfig glad that's she's recovering well and I hope bad seizures like that soon become a distant memory.

I don’t understand how some states think sports will work. It baffles me. Most are full close contact.

I am cleaning memory boxes from the basement — pictures, notes, some tchotchkes. I made the mistake of giving the kids whistles I had saved on lanyards from my life guarding days. It is sooooo loud here.
