Both of my kids teachers have been doing things to prepare for virtual learning for the past few weeks. They both kept saying they hadn’t heard anything yet, but just in case. But I’m also in the area where we’ve been in lockdown already.
Im also not holding my breath for the 11th. Sigh.

Our premiere put more limits on retail spaces...starting December 26th - like start now! The stores are insanely busy due to Christmas. Gah, I hate our premier and his party so much.

I haven't seen any provinces do this (correct me if I'm wrong). It seems like they all are willing to say it's urgent and we need to act now but don't want to be the bad guy who shuts down on Christmas. The rumour here in Ontario was midnight on the 24th but Ford chickened out and went with the 26th.

We can also only gather in groups of 10 and that is a brand new loosening of previous restrictions from last week which was groups of 5. And our positivity rate is <1%. Atlantic provinces are all strict planes. That is why my head tilts so much at all the provinces waiting until after Christmas.

Our conservative plane is wayyyyyy too slow at being strict.

I wish our government would be a stricter plane FFS. We could have been in a much better place by now.

We are able to restrict our borders pretty easily. It is a big geographical advantage. If we weren't able to enforce quarantines on all outside travelers, all our other tactics would probably not be nearly as effective. But the governments really don't play here, and we have really high compliance. There were so many symptomless college kids waiting in long ass lines for asymptomatic testing during our most recent outbreak because they were the key spreaders and they wanted to do their part. I was seriously proud of them.
But I just don't get why governments are waiting on this stuff. It is infuriating. I have tons of friends and family in the GTA and I just want everyone to be ok. I want to be able to see them again.

So many small businesses are floundering because our government told us to stay home, but won't lockdown/shutdown, so the small businesses have lost so many customers, but they can't apply for any of the covid relief from the feds because we aren't locked down. I hate living in a super conservative province - we also have weekly anti-mask rallies and it took like, 3 or 4 big ones to happen before our premiere spoke out against them (much of his die hard fan base is there).

I'm sorry, that is so frustrating. There was a 2k+ anti mask rally last weekend in Montreal and it's so rage-inducing and shocking to see. Just wear the fucking mask and let's get through this already.

Cultural differences between provinces, I guess. I don't think there have been any mask protests here at all. There was actually no community spread when our mandate was put in place in the summer and everyone just sort of went "yeah, ok." I joked with a friend that our generally complacent attitude is a real pandemic asset. We are just not a group of rabble rousers.

Like he personally sent out tweets about sacrifices and staying home WHILE HE WAS IN ST BARTS! Pretending to be at home! His twitter account is blowing up right now.

But pretending he was home and tweeting about "sacrifices"? That is some next level scumbaggery.

And I think he's going to slowly start being more wishy washy to appease the more extreme people in our province.

Just saw that the ON finance minister resigned! As he should. What a dumb, privileged move on his part.

I’m not at all surprised politicians are doing this sort of thing, but it’s upsetting. I wish I had the money and connections for all this special treatment. 😒

So many AB members traveled over the holidays, i was raging about it to MH yesterday. I’m still really upset about it TBH. I mean I haven’t seen my family for 18 months, and Hs family for 14 months, MH hasn’t ever met his niece and she’s over a year old. But it’s ok for all these assholes to go kick back in Hawaii and Mexico and Vegas while also telling all their constituents to stay home and do the right thing. I’m so fucking angry about all of it
