Morning! Still no power at home but they estimate that everybody but 1% of our town will be back up by Tuesday. Extra trucks showed up yesterday so I have high hopes that it will be before that. We’re still at the lake house. We weren’t planning on taking a vacation this summer because of Covid so this has been a welcome treat.

Morning. It’s still 95 degrees over here (will be for the next 5 days... unheard of in our neck of the woods) so a whole lot of nothing is going on in the nam household. It’s basically hopping between the couch, the fridge, the kiddie pool and the dinner table.

Morning!
We got the replacement toilet last night, so DH and I will be working on part 2 of the Great Toilet Installation of 2020 this morning, then tackling some yard work.
The kids have really enjoyed our recent movie nights, so I think tonight we'll find something to watch and get takeout from a new burger place that is getting good reviews. I promised B we'd make brownies, too.
Happy Saturday!

Hello. Nothing on the agenda aside from our pool slot this afternoon. I’m thinking about going to the mall tmrw - I need to stop at B&BW to get more air freshener refills.

Glad y’all got a little getaway though. Are the kids enjoying the change of scenery?

Morning.
It’s my work weekend. We have a few patients this AM and then I have to make a Lowe’s run. I have some yard work to do this afternoon. Not much else on the agenda.

I’m currently washing the curtains in the kids’ rooms and then we’ll tackle the yard work. M is supposed to start piano this year at school so I should probably start checking Craig’s list and see if one of my friends will check FB for me. They’re supposed to be doing it virtual...not sure how that works for beginners. I’m excited to have. Piano back in the house but will need to find a way to keep the kids from banging on it at all times. I really wish I still had all my piano books. It’s one of the boxes I forgot when I got divorced.

tgrimes we've had to put a hold on starting violin since they are still all virtual. Cadence is pretty disappointed, but I just don't think trying to learn a new instrument is something you can do virtual, at least not violin and not with the way Cadence learns. She'll just do better with a more hands on, in person approach. Maybe you could find a keyboard temporarily until you find a piano.

One or two dance studios here are planning virtual lessons and I said no to that. I just don't see a preschooler trying to start that way, plus I want the social opportunity for C. Most are offering in-person classes with social distancing, etc. in place so I'm good with that. Not sure about music lessons, though.

I’d just like to get a piano in the house again.

Our elementary school is a music magnet so we don’t have a choice. I know in the spring they did it virtual but even the beginners had been doing it since August. I won’t be expecting much though. For sure a preschooler would not do well in a virtual dance class. Might as well not waste the money and YouTube it.

For music lessons I'd consider posting on Next Door or a local FB group to see if there are any HS or college kids who could teach music lessons. For something like violin you could do it outdoors with masks to minimize exposure.

We're going to try out the raft today at one of our lakes. I'll probably pack a cooler. I'm excited. Should be fun.

I had a dream last night about Paul Rudd. Instead of a hot and sexy dream, even though he was totally into me I told him I have a huge crush on him but I respect his relationship with his wife. The look on his face just dropped. Instead of sexytime we went to Costco and talked about how disappointed we were at the lack of samples due to Rona and I gave him a piggyback ride and was surprised at how light he was.
I'm so disappointed in my dream self. I remember the one time I had an LL dream I told him I'm married. 🙄🤦♀️

Our power company said they’d release town by town restoration datestoday. I’ve been glued to my text messages. The pool is going to be a slimy green nightmares upon return.

Dance here is following a hybrid. One week in studio and one week at home. Or you can choose all virtual. I really wanted to start Charlie in something but no soccer, no lacrosse, and the only virtual thing happening for his age is Taekwondo, and I’d rather he start that in person.

Name question: we both love the name Mae as a middle name for if we were to have a girl. Do you girls think it is silly/corny given DD’s first name?
ETA pdq & side note the months are spelled/pronounced different over here.

@nam,I think it would be fine bc it’s a middle name. I like the spelling of it. What are you conserving for the first name? ETA: I meant considering.

nam2013 I think it's pretty and would be fine as a middle name. Rarely will you have all 3 children listed with their full names written out, most people probably wouldn't even make the connection. Some friends of ours had the same name on both the husband and wife's sides (grandmothers, I think?) so they used it for their daughter. It suits her and is very sweet.

B’s dance stupid has yet to settle on a fall schedule yet. They said they’d like to try in person classes w social distancing, so max of 8 kids. There will also be virtual lessons for those interested.

guster I can’t believe you are still without power but I’m thrilled you got a forced vacation. You guys needed it! I woke up this morning to C showing me his iPad that was open to a nerf gun at Target. He says mom I want this and hands me the money to buy it. The kid can’t read but can somehow shop online! I got it for him since he’s worked to earn that money and I needed to do a Target pick up anyway. My dad took C fishing this morning and dh is out with C playing football. I tidied up the house and now I have probably 15mins to relax before they return.

Its been a long weekend thus far. We bailed hay yesterday and today and it was just a lot of time with my SIL and nephews.. I'm burnt out. They've totally abandoned any attempt at parenting and their middle child is being flat out mean and hateful and they say nothing... the baby cries because she ignores him and the oldest won't stop grabbing/pushing/fingerings faces/hitting my kids. Its exhausting. They wanted to have dinner tonight and I made up an excuse because I don't have it in me to be around them anymore this weekend.
