Ahem..... speaking from experience..... living in Hawaii is the shit. I was happy to say good riddance to four seasons, low 80s all day everyday is my kind of life! Can’t say I experienced any island fever since we did travel to the mainland at least once a year and had several neighbor island trips. It’s a shame the job doesn’t really align inthekitty bc it would be a wonderful experience!

Haven’t read but wanted everyone to know we’re without power with no clear restore date until at least tomorrow. I’m hearing the townsfolk pontificate anywhere between 4-10 days. We’re safe. No damage to our property or the house, just a very messy clean up. We’re trying to decide if we should wait it out for a day or two, call family to help, or just go to a hotel. I seriously have t been anywhere in 5 months and today we’ve been to 3 restaurants and the gas station.

Hi! I could do either of those destinations for a year! HI preferred, of course, but I do think a just a year abroad would be amazing, even if I have to deal with a freezing cold season. It would be an amazing cultural experience for the kids for sure! lfig Safe travels. Hope all the appointments go well. Definitely bad timing for your parents RV life change, but I hope they can make it work. I also think a year of that would be awesome. I would visit all the national parks and even venture up to Canada. vino Has Banff on my list of must sees. I want to plan all the trips for when this damn pandemic is over. I just need all the money. 🤑

It’s my one day off this week. I’m trying to get all the things done. I still have to workout and make some returns.
My FIL is stopping by today on his way up to Memphis. MH’s aunt has a doctor’s appointment post chemo that he is going with her to tomorrow. He should be here shortly. I ordered pizza for us for lunch.

The kids have discovered The Floor is Lava. We’re all sucked in 🤦🏻♀️😂 It's so delightfully dumb. We skip past the stories and get to the action. I'm really good at sitting on my couch and criticizing how people should have done a physical task while I snack.

guster 4-10 days? I'd definitely make other plans, probably family so that if you get notice it's back on, you can leave quickly and don't have to worry about the hotel continuing to charge you. But I'm not sure how far that is for you. I hope it's restored quickly.

tgrimes You have any teacher friends in Houston? I was talking to my mom last night and she told me my sister is expected to be in the classroom to do distance learning when they start. My niece, same age as M, can go to school with her to do her DL while she teaches, but my other niece, entering 6th grade, cannot because she is in middle school. Her dad teaches too and they can’t bring their kids with them. That makes no sense. What are the older kids expected to do? Stay home by themselves to virtual school? They’re in Katy.

My power is back! We went swimming at a friend’s this afternoon and the little girl on our street that Dd plays with called to tell us we had it back. We are now going to eat 40,000 chicken nuggets that defrosted. guster I’m so sorry. 24 hours sucked and I had an out today if needed. You were the best quarantiner ever and I hate that this is what forced you out. We were told 11 pm tomorrow and came back at 4:30 today. Heard they brought in a lot of out of state teams to help.

Hey. MIL took the girls this morning to see her friend’s puppies. I took V to the lactation group to make sure her latch is fine after her ULT clip. Then I had a chiro appt and the girls were back shortly after I got back home. DH has softball tonight and I am so not looking forward to solo bedtime. My dad and step mom have been living in their RV since 2014. They traveled around the first year or so and then bought a place down in AZ, in a senior living trailer park. They drive up in the spring and stay in their RV all summer here. Not what I’d want to do. I am actually surprised my step mom could pare down her stuff so well, she is a pack rat. Their RV is pretty full of stuff. guster I hope your power is restored ASAP!

I’m assuming it depends on the school. At my school, the teachers will be teaching from home until they’re given approval to return to the classroom, to do the virtual learning. But yes, the middle school age children are expected to figure it out themselves, it seems. My sister is in OK, and she has to be back in the classroom. However her kids district is different. Her youngest will be doing virtual all semester by herself. I have a friend here who is hiring a college student to help out. She’s a teacher and her husband is a doctor, so they are both required to be at work.

I’m safe! But not home. My cousin has a lake house about 90 minutes from us. She told me to use it as long as we needed it. I’m not complaining: Eversource said they are evaluating the situation. There were trees hanging on every street on our drive out of town. It was really scary. Apparently they’re bringing in help from New Hampshire and Canada. It’s definitely going to be a while. It was okay without the power but we have a well so no water and we couldn’t flush the toilet. I don’t think I would’ve made it another night.

I could not live that well water life! We are the only house on our street with city sewer so in a power outage we give the neighbors access to our hose to fill buckets. I hope your power is back sooner than the estimate. guster

I’m really not going to lose this pregnancy weight if I don’t stop eating a whole row of Oreos every night after the kids are in bed. I normally don’t really like Oreos that much but for some reason they are so good dipped in coffee or milk right now.

I thought we were in the clear—we’ve been there for a little over 2 years and have dealt with one other tornado and awful ice and snow storms and never once lost power. We already decided we need to have a generator installed.
