And today marks 3 months exactly until the day we’ve chosen for our csection (at 39+1, presuming this kiddo doesn’t want to come on his own). I had some BH contractions today and they were very annoying. I forgot how uncomfortable they are.
The nursery is coming along slowly but surely. I made the mistake of having DH take everything out of our attic before it got too hot up there and just putting it all in the room, so it’s just a cluster in there and I get overwhelmed so easily.

I can't believe it's already August. I also can't believe how much longer I have to go until my due date. It feels like I've been pregnant for forever already, though I do feel fine.
We haven't made any more progress on the nursery. I'm not ready to totally get rid of our guest room yet, even though it's highly unlikely it will be used.

there are only about 100 days left to go for me - not sure how this happened. marigold i hear you on feeling like it’s been forever already, but i’m not ready for him to be here yet. we still don’t have a name and aren’t talking about it either. things have kind of been crazy for us trigger warning we moved my gram from her locked down memory care facility last week to my aunts house for hospice care so that she wouldn’t be alone. she’s had a good long life but it’s still hard and extra hormones are not helping. to further complicate things my mom (who is taking care of her with my aunt) broke her ankle this last weekend and is having surgery this week. needless to say i have started sending my kids to daycare an extra day so that i can help my aunt and mom out. this pregnancy is kind of on the back burner for the next few weeks.

My kid's room (his nursery when he was a baby) still doubles as a guest room. It is thankfully large enough to keep the guest bed in addition to his crib and dresser and such and we just sleep him in the office or in our room when we have guests.

We don't have room for a nursery. We'll keep the baby in our room for a while and maybe we will find a new house or we'll move him in with the 3YO.

What are the current Covid policies at your place of birth? Is Covid testing required when you’re admitted? Is everyone required to wear a mask? Are they recommending a home quarantine leading up to your due date?

Are they recommending a home quarantine leading up to your due date? Last I heard, they are still doing rapid testing upon being admitted unless you are scheduled for a csection/induction, and then they want you to do the test 72 hours in advance. I think you only have to wear the mask in the hallways? But I’m not 100% sure on that. My goal is to quarantine starting just before 37 weeks after I heard a news report that said there’s been an increase in stillbirths in women who catch the virus at 37+ weeks. Since we’re planning to schedule the csection for 39+1 it probably will be just over 2 weeks that I stick around the house.

Still pregnant and still hospitalized. This is such a rollercoaster. They are making no predictions and constantly on edge. She's had a couple calmer days though. I'm hanging in there. It's hard not having answers.

Are they recommending a home quarantine leading up to your due date? I have all of these questions on my list to ask at my telehealth appointment next week. A few friends have had babies in the past couple weeks at different but nearby hospitals; they've all had masks on in the pictures they've shared. It's so weird so think about having to keep one on during L&D. Even if it's not required, I will quarantine leading up to my due date. Other than doctor appointments, I don't go anywhere as it is.

I was curious about the Covid policies because I got an email from the birth center today. They are strongly recommending a family quarantine starting at 35 weeks. For me that’s the week before Halloween (or of, I guess) and with my history of going late, I expect to be quarantined for at least 6 weeks before giving birth. We had planned to do this already but just not that early.
They also are now doing a universal mask requirement for everyone in the building for your entire time in the building, including laboring moms. I get it. I really do. But the thought of having my nose and mouth covered while going through the biggest workout of my life just seems so daunting. I don’t know that I’ll be able to keep it on. Usually just before transition I have a moment of ripping all of my clothes off and standing up so nothing is touching me except the floor under my feet. Ugh I don’t know.
The surrounding hospitals are requiring masks for laboring moms and partners until the rapid test comes back negative. Once it does, it’s masks only required in the halls. If the test is positive, they will wear more PPE and ask that you attempt to keep the mask on as much as possible. I guess the difference with the birth center is they’re not doing routine testing once admitted. If I test positive leading up to my due date, it’s an automatic hospital birth.

I had not yet heard that about stillbirths being more common if positive after 37w. 😭😭 I just found the news radio’s article about it- basically a study from the UK found that the number has grown from 2.38 stillbirths per 1,000 births to 9.31. It’s not like an insane jump but I had enough issues with DDs birth that I don’t want to risk anything. Also I keep hoping that things might be slightly different come our time to deliver. I hope the mask policy lightens for you. I’m just thankful that our hospital seems to be allowing partners to leave. I don’t want DH to be stuck there and DD to possibly be with a sitter for 2 days (REALLY hoping that doesn’t change!)

i really can’t even think about laboring with a mask on. i think policy where i plan to deliver is to get tested at 38 weeks and then quarantine after that. i don’t know anything beyond that and i’m guessing that things will evolve by november. my brother just tested positive and we saw him last sunday so we are currently doing a strict quarantine.
on another note i am in the market for a new video monitor. ours but the dust when dd2 turned 1 and we never got another one (bedrooms were very close in old house). anyone have one they like?

My practice confirmed that I will be tested upon arrival at L&D and will have to keep a mask on during labor, regardless of test results. Because labor isn't fun enough already. polson, hope you're in the clear! Are you going to get tested?

We've had Infant Optics for 3+ years and I like it. The battery on the monitor is kind of shit but you can reset it and keep it going for a while. I may look into a new battery for the new baby.

😬😬😬 polson, Hopefully you stay healthy! I’m also looking for a new video monitor. We currently have a WiFi camera in the room and I love that I can pull it up on my phone. But I would have to leave the app open on my phone all night to hear baby. So I probably will end up getting an actual stand alone monitor at some point. I’ve read a little about the Nanit which is expensive but caught my eye on Amazon because it’s HSA/FSA eligible so need to do some more research on that one.

We are going to try a combo of a wifi camera (I won it through a baby giveaway) and a standard audio monitor that we had with DD. I originally planned to get an infant optics one I think, so that’ll be what we go for if this set up doesn’t work.

thanks ladies! i was eyeing the infant optics one so i think i’ll go with that.
as far as covid, i don’t plan on getting tested until i have symptoms. but maybe i should? i’ve read there can be a high chance for false negatives before symptoms. i just hate this though. h was tested last week because he had a mild cold but works in health care and it was neg. my mom was also tested last week because she had surgery and she was neg. h did have a coworker test positive who had no symptoms. my anxiety is kind of through the roof.

I hope it's negative, polson! Sorry to hear about your mom and brother! This baby must have had a massive growth spurt. All of a sudden, my stomach is so tight, and I'm feeling her non-stop. I have an anterior placenta and have barely felt her until the past few days.

not feeling sick just spent pretty much all week at my moms last week because i was helping her after surgery so i’m just paranoid. i don’t know when to expect results - my mom and aunt got theirs back in less than 2 days, about 3 for brother and h, but it took 6 days for sil. it’s insane that people are having to wait a week for results. i also have my 28 week appt, growth scan and glucose test next wednesday so i’m crossing my fingers i’m neg since that will be 14 days since i’ve seen my mom.

I think I’m traumatized by my second kid’s first year. The colic, the crying, the lack of sleep. She slept in a rock n play way longer than she should have. Now that they’ve been recalled, that’s not an option so I already have several bassinets and sleep places to try out. I somehow managed to score a secondhand Snoo for only $600! AND they brought it to me! A snoo like this with these accessories in our area easily could have gone for $800 so as long as it doesn’t crap out before we’re done with it, I might even profit from buying it. 🙊

that’s awesome Fearsy. i was traumatized by dd1s sleep. i was ready to shell out for a snoo if i needed to the second time around. i will do the same if this one ends up being a nightmare sleeper. interested to hear how it goes for you. we relied on the rnp for naps for the first 3 months with dd2 so i need to find something that will take its place.

my test was negative and even though i’m not quite in the clear i am a bit relieved. i really want to get an antibody test even though accuracy is an issue and we don’t quite know what it all means at this point. i guess my shortness of breath and headaches are all still baby related.
