I wasn’t around much in July but hope to post more this month. Things are moving along. Summer is always harder for me to get tons of workouts, my volume is much greater during the school year. Living that 3 kids SAH life. Swimming and running are my main workouts. I want to add in more strength and yoga this month but the reality is that it likely will be September before things change.
I also only have 1 more week of morning lap swim at the pool and I’m not sure how I feel about swimming indoors.
A positive for me this month is my running pace has dropped an average of :30 per mile for easy workouts. I don’t really run hard or do track work, mostly I just set out to keep my heart rate low so seeing an improvement is nice.

My July was not the greatest or the worst.
Goals for August:
1. Cut alcohol during the week. Maybe more. 2. Prep snacks and breakfast, I'm working from home. My snack game has been horrendous. 3. More water 4. Work out 5 days a week. Start lifting again.
I started this morning with an intervals and arms class, so there's that at least. I need to work on adding some upper body strength training.

I had two goals in July - run 100 miles and do strength 2x a week. I met the running goal but failed miserably at strength. As of now, my kids are supposed to go back in person to school in September, so hopefully I’ll find more time for strength then.
For August, I have zero goals. We’re leaving for Maine next week and it will be hard to run, both on the travel days and while we’re there. So my plan is just to run when and how far I feel like and just try to enjoy it.

I had an eventful run this morning. I did Adrian’s 20 min HIIT run and when I was all out sprinting towards the end, my 16 year old blind and deaf Pomeranian wandered in and got within in an inch of the treadmill. I’ve never jumped off so fast in my life. He’s never in the basement but one of the boys must have left the door open. Anyway, despite that, I had my fastest 20 minute peloton run to date - an average of 9:11 min miles. Heading to the pool later to cool off and swim some laps.

August goals: 1) Meditate more often - currently twice a week, and I’m aiming for 3-4 times a week. 2) Foam roll and related exercises more often. Currently twice a week, but it takes 4-5 times a week to really manage my muscle spasms.
I’m currently doing physical therapy for an hour a day six days a week, but I need to find time for another half hour every day. That isn’t a goal for August, because I really don’t know how I’ll find the time, but I’m thinking about it.
ETA: Lol I do have a long term goal to be able to do one pushup. I’ve been working on it for a couple of years and still haven’t gotten there, so I hold no hope for August, but I am trying.

August goals: Run 100 miles Stretch and foam roll well after workouts Strength 2x/week Cross train 2x/week- SUP, kayaking, spin
My watch still won't sync with Connect (small problem), but now it also isn't tracking distance (bigger problem). Back to using Strava directly.... feels so old school 😆

I start back to work on Monday, finally. I’ll be WFH and my peloton is like 10 feet from where my desk will be, so one of my goals is a peloton workout plus my ab rehab during my lunch break. I can’t wait to have that time to myself again. My other goal is to drink a ton more water. Maternity leave makes me forget to drink and eat for most of the day.

Thank you for the foam roller reminder, senneth! I'm terrible at remembering consistently but always glad when I do.

My July was awful. My goals for August are to clean up my eating and continue to get in consistent exercise 5x a week and hopefully lose some weight.

Hello!
July goals were to track my macros and hit the 50 lbs lost mark. I did both! Also ended the month in the next decade (by .4 lbs but it’s counts).
August goals: -Continue to track macros -My Apple Watch gave me an August challenge of 1800 exercise minutes. I’m going to go for it! -Hit 60 lbs lost mark -Relax! It’s my last month before grad school starts.

keg I said foam rolling and related exercises because I also use a theracane (sp?), the stick, and a random assortment of balls, but it makes a huge difference in how well I function. willow I hadn’t thought about using my lunch break, but I’m WFH right now, and I think I’ll try moving my foam rolling to my lunch break. If that works, you might have just found me the extra half hour I need for pt!

I always used my lunch break at work when I was at the office to take a walk around the neighborhood behind our building. It’s nbd for me to eat while I work at my desk so I figure why not use the time off for something else?

I need to go here. I’m the heaviest I’ve ever been, including when pregnant, and I have been very down on myself about it.
Goals: —up water intake —go for nightly walks with family —start Couch to 5K

How is it already August?!? This summer is flying by.
I had a great July. I achieved a few Peloton milestones and had a lot of good workouts. I’ve also been working on fully disassociating food from exercise and it’s so freeing to want to work out because I enjoy it rather than to try to lose weight.
For August, I want to aim for the following:
-finish the Pelothon challenge -get back into weekday walks during my lunch breaks -track macros daily -focus on mental health via meditation and yoga at least once a week

I feel pretty good about July. I’m currently on a 45 day and 14 week streak, knocked out 3/4 of the Pelethon challenge, and got in 25 miles of running. I maintained my weight, which I was hoping for a few pounds down, but I do look a bit leaner - I can definitely see it in my legs, arms (with my triceps just starting to peek out), my abs (that littlest bit of definition when turn just slightly to the side), and my face looks a bit less filled out. And best of all, I feel stronger and KNOW I’m stronger as I’m using heavier weights this month and not just for lower body moves.
Food could be better - that’s where I need to tighten up the most. I tracked for a handful of days and it just made me too uber-focused and twitchy so I stopped.
I also added some meditation sessions and that’s helped at bedtime with my sleep.
My goals for August are to finish the Road to the 5K program and start the Marathon program (but modify to a half as I’m not crazy! LOL) and use the long run workouts in Weeks 3-4+ (until I’m wrapped up) to finish out the last 2 weeks of my Couch to 10K program. It will be weird to not run to Peleton for those but I want to finish out that program. I’d also love to lose 3-5 lbs and look to move up a little more with my weights in strength classes.

I knocked out Bec’s 30 min 90s Fun Run and ran about 50% in a decidedly hard sprinkle. I made it back just before it really started coming down in earnest but it was actually pretty refreshing. It also helped me pick up the pace so I clocked 2.3 miles with negative splits. It’s nice to see my pace improve ever so slightly and I’m loving the easing off of high temps these past few days.
I added on Selena’s 10 min lower body stretch.

I did not hit my 150mi goal in July. I had a little over 125. But, it was hot 🥵, all my runs are outdoors, and July is one of my busiest months work wise so I am not too down about it.
For August I am not setting a mileage goal. Anywhere over a hundred is fine. In September I’ll ramp it up again.
This month I’d like to bring back interval runs and do short daily strength workouts. I’m just going to rack up those 10 minute Peloton workouts. I can always find 10 minutes.
Just finished a 5mi run and I’m going to do a 10 minute core workout.

8 easy miles this morning. It started sprinkling around mile 7 which was much needed. It felt so great. I listened to an audiobook instead of my usual playlist. It was a little harder for me to stay focuser, but I guess that's a good mental challenge.

I’m going to hang out in here this month and hope I catch some motivation. I’ve been really struggling to exercise regularly since Covid began, I SAH with two kids and an H who works outside the home still. I have been doing easy hikes with my kids in recent weeks but it’s getting to be too hot outdoors and I miss running 3-4x weekly. I still run on weekends, but I need to be out the door by 6am on weekdays if I want to run before he leaves for work. I’m going to make it my goal to do that twice a week this month and maybe work up from there. I loathe doing home workout videos but I can try to do a few 15-20 minute HIIT style workouts just to increase my weekly activity. I miss feeling in shape.

I’m jumping back in here. I completely stopped working out for about 3 months of this pandemic. I woke up last weekend and charged my fit bit and decided the least I can do I drink water and walk. So I’m now on a 6 day streak of 10K steps and 64 oz of water. Those are literally my only two goals and I’m fine with that. If I can do those, I will feel better.
I did a nice walk/run interval outside today for the first time in forever and it felt great.

I love all the new people joining! This is always my favorite thread.
Today I hit 300 rides on the peloton! I did both of Jess’s live rides (30 min intervals and arms and 20min house ride) and a 5 min warm up right before each. It was a nice long workout on the bike.

August goals are just to keep going with my marathon training, lifting and fueling strategies.
I finished a 16 mile long run today and felt great! It was a little slow since the last 6 miles or so were on an unpaved road and I took it easy to find my footing. Came back to the campsite, took a brisk rinse in the solar shower, and am now sitting by a big fire reading.
B: bagel, banana S: tailwind during my run, tailwind recovery shake after L: turkey sandwich with cheddar on Dave’s bread and some cheezits D: grilled pizza with prosciutto, kalamata olives, fresh mozz basil and tomatoes. I have sparkling canned wine and a bottle of jack too. 😉

Happy August! I hit my workout goal of 5 days per week for the month of July. I am proud of that and my increased running endurance. My nutrition was okay- we went up north for a week and I indulged a ton. I didn’t lose any weight throughout the month which is frustrating. I’m not sure what to do to actually get the scale to move.
I did a leg workout and a walk this morning. Food should be fine for the day. MH bought some Moscow mule beers from a local brewery for me (I loooove a good mule) so I’m going to fit one of those in tonight.
B- sourdough toast with avocado and an egg L- half a turkey sandwich, Caesar salad, bites of kid’s pizza- tracked it! D- teriyaki tenderloin and veggie kebabs on the grill, fancy beer

Thank God it's August. This baby can come any time now. GTFO you little heathen.
My only August goals were stay as active as possible and don't become a bloated whale. I did pretty well. I ran 52.2 miles and did some yoga or strength at least 1-2x per week. My workout load has dropped dramatically, but that's given and obvious.
Same goals for this month; attempt to be active, don't be a fucking whale, and shake this baby OUT.
No real workout today. We took the girls to the zoo and I picked up like 6k steps in the hot sun. I'd like to go do a bit of yoga still, but we'll see.

July was fine, I guess. Nothing big, didn’t gain weight. Meh. But I think august is going to be better. I’m going to try to keep up my running, biking, walking, and yoga mix and see how I do. Food was adequate, barely ever eating out helps. 😊
