Wakeful Wednesday

Mallory normally sleeps until 8-8:30. We've been up since 6:45 and I'm already exhausted. And our wifi is down and I have to file fuel taxes today. So I'm on hold with them.

Whats everyone up to today?

Morning! We made it to and back from the lake. Yesterday was busy catching up with work.

Today I have to take Evie up for her COVID test anytime between 8 and noon. I think we will go closer to lunch so we can grab something on the way home. I feel like I have to figure out breakfast, lunch and dinner since H is home.

Morning. We stopped by my inlaws and dismantled Ds’ old bed. He slept in it for the last time last night, it was bittersweet seeing him in his old room/nursery for the last time, he growing so fast! We bought paint for the walls and floors and Dh prepped some old dents. Hopefully we can more of less finish the nursery this week.

The kids were bouncing off the walls, so Dh decided to take them out and allow me to put my feet up for a bit. The silly thing is that as soon as they leave I feel a little sad that I didn’t go with them and see their happy little faces. I’m just a big ball of emotions today aren’t I 😂.

Tried calling unemployment first thing this morning. Their call hours start at 7, I called at 8 and they said they weren't taking any more calls....uh...it's only been an hour, how can you not be taking any more calls? So I sent an email. I'm hoping they contact me, otherwise that's 2 weeks of no money and I have bills to pay.

Cadence's school principal is doing a Q&A Zoom tomorrow. From 11-12, so I can't log in since I'll be at work. Maybe I'll bring hte laptop up here so it can be on while I work. I just want to know if she will be getting a single teacher or if it will be a group effort like the end of last year. I would like an individual teacher for her. If it's a group effort then I may look into a tutor.

Cadence joined me in bed again last night. I guess at least she didn't yell for me until I got up and went to her. Now she just comes in, gets in my bed and goes to sleep. I would still rather she didn't though. With her comes the kitten and he has no chill. He wants to lay on faces, or drape his fluffy tail right over your mouth. So annoying.

Oh, and now he screams any time you get water from the refrigerator. He wants water too. NOW!
They have a water fountain and he is perfectly content with drinking water from that, unless you are getting water. Then he wants THAT water.

I got our acceptance letter, B is officially admitted to the private school for the upcoming school year. Guess we’re going thru w this! 😬 Hoping we’ve made the right choice.

I feel ya.  J has been asking for Pete back for ages and it kills me.  She wants to play stickers, dress up, tea party and lock a pet in her room without issue which Zoe doesnt enjoy as she is a typical cat who decides when she wants to be petted and play.

I’m a horrible mom 😉. I send them to my aunts’ when they want to pet an animal. Both Dh and I aren’t pet people and I do not want to take care of one once the kids get bored with the rabbit/fish/cat/gerbil etc. They can pet the baby once it arrives 🤣.

I don't have much work work to do today, so I'm trying to get other stuff done. I have some online shopping missions, scheduled the girls for riding lessons for the next two months, and need to figure out why fed loans has dropped my repayment program from my profile AGAIN.

No you're not.  You know your limits of what you can give and take care of.  there is nothing 'wrong' with that.  You make decisions based on your overall household.

The kids are over the moon with the dogs in the neighbourhood as they have been going for walks with them etc, and i get so many comments of 'oh only a matter of time until you get a dog' 'oh now that Pete is gone you getting another cat' and I am sure that i look like an ass when I tell them no thanks, I dont need any extra chaos.  MH and I have chatted before and I think we are going to live pet free for a  year once Zoe isnt here anymore before we think about getting another or what kind of pet.  We might even decide to live the no pet life. Who knows.

I've got a lot of feels with this apparently...

ETA: in a perfect world I'd save all the rescues and have all the animals cause I love them so, so much, but my mental capacity says differently.

wineallthetime the girls are after me for pets too. Maddie wants rats and Cass wants a cat. I'm actually semi-fine with it assuming I get to work from home, but not right now. Maybe in a few months. I'm milking it for all it's worth because M has a big issue with not cleaning up after herself, trashing her room, ignoring me when I tell her stuff like get in the shower. Now she is super motivated to work on those areas because I told her I know she's not ready for the responsibility of a rat if she can't manage herself first.

I think Ratapalooza (totally serious about this, rat people are weird) is this fall so local breeders will probably have some babies ready then and that might be around the time frame I'd look. For most pets I'm all about rescues, but rats have such a short life span (1-2 years) there aren't a lot of rescues so I just want healthily bred ones that aren't meant to be feeders at Petco.

Same here. When our dog is gone I'd like to have some pet free time (though C does have a fish). I could see us getting another dog once the kids are able to help more with taking care of it.

We have 6 cats and 6 fish and Cadence still asks for more on the reg. She wants to foster kittens and get a dog. I told her we would get a long hair chihuahua and mh wouldn't notice because it would just blend in with the cats. So she's all in on that plan. HAHAHA

nam2013,no dogs or cats here either. First, the boys are a little scared of dogs, and second, it's enough to take care of them, I don't need another responsibilitiy.

I got S a fish for his birthday a few years ago. That's enough.

Yesterday I met my boss and work BFF (who is his daughter) for lunch in kim22's town again. It feels weird but good to start to have some semblance of a life again, even with masks and eating in parking lots.

They have released the school plans for most of the surrounding towns but ours is not going to be released till 8/7 so I'm just waiting to see. Some people have reached out to possibly do remote learning together with a teacher so we will see.

We had a small zoo growing up. Had just about everything except for dogs because I was deprived (j/k). We often had ~4 cats and a mixture of frogs, fish, hamsters, and rats. I was the main pet lover behind most of the critters. So part of me wants more animals around. Working from home would be a huge factor in making it possible. Also my BFF and I take care of each others pets when we're out of town. She had rats in college and it would be so easy just to bring the cage to her house for a few days. 

I kind of want a cavalier king charles spaniel. When I was researching dogs those and collies topped my list. I found a rescue site for them. That's not on the agenda anytime soon but if there was a rescue that became available in our area I'd probably go for it. MH is much more resistant to the pets but always falls in love with them. We saw a CKCS the other day and he loved it and agreed it'd be a good little pet. I've always thought my mom should have gotten one of those instead of the trash dogs she has.

jewels Ds is hysterical around dogs, he now tolerated my aunts’ dog, but for most he’ll ask if we can pick him up, or he wals the other way.

We had chickens, rabbits, birds, fish, cats, gerbils and dogs growing up. I've also owned ferrets and rats.

I love always having animals around.

I wish we lived on some acreage so I could have more, and more of a variety, but that dream isn't happening any time soon.
