It's been raining off and on all night.
What's everyone up to this weekend?

Morning! We got back yesterday afternoon from vacation. I do not recommend vacationing for a week with your MIL unless its tgrimes MIL. I was so annoyed with her voice by the end of the trip. Shes one of those people that, if its silent too long, she says something, anything. And if shes on fb, she tells you every random thing she reads. She also doesnt enjoy the beach or heat, so I'm not sure why she agreed to go with us. Then we got home and pulling into our garage smelled awful. I checked the trash cans, they were empty. H opened the garage fridge/freezer, and it died at some point last week. I had a bunch of chicken and pork in the freezer section, so fucking disgusting. I thought I was going to throw up at one point. We put it all in trash bags, then an old cooler, then took it and dumped it. And because the governor of KS added Alabama and Arkansas to the list of places to self quarantine after visiting, I'm working from home for another 2 weeks, which I dont mind. But vacation was great.

I have a bunch of returns to do today. Target, old navy, academy & Walmart. Too bad they can’t do curbside returns. Ha ha ha!

mwhip i have vacationed several times with my MIL and she has always been amazing, even when we were all on a sailboat for a week. I do not think it would be delightful to vacation with my mother though. I’m sorry about your fridge. Yuck!

I have to drop some amazon returns at UPS and stop at the grocery store for a few things.
Tonight we are going out to dinner for the first time in 3.5 months! I’m nervous even though I know the spacing outside it good and my dad is friends with the owner and trusts the cleaning. My dad really wanted to do this for Father’s Day so I agreed but I’m still uncomfortable. I am excited to wear a dress I got ages ago that I haven’t been able to wear.

Hi!
I have a lot of housework to do today. Maybe a Lowe’s run for some things. I need to get M to do some art for Father’s Day and maybe bring him to pick a few small things out for him. I already got him an Apple Watch to replace his Fitbit that hadn’t worked right since the fall update. Hopefully he will be pleased because those things are expensive AF even on sale.

Glad the vacation was good mwhip other than the annoying chatty MIL. Yuck to the smell, hopefully the garage isn’t too bad now.

Morning. I had my hair cut this morning & ds was very low on shorts, so I stopped by H&m. I got the shorts, but it was insane in the city, looked like a normal Saturday, whole families casually shopping together, groups of teenagers (no distance of course). I got out of there asap. My parents are camping this weekend and we’re visiting them for the day tomorrow. It’ll be nice to get out of the house . We rented a budget car, which normally is a VW up (the smallest car imaginable 😂) apparently they lost our reservation, so now we have a huge Audi automatic. Dh is very happy.

Some places weren’t open at the mall, only certain entrances and specific till areas were taking returns. Good luck! Hopefully it’s fast

Josie and I have a surprise zoom baby shower at 1230. They sent a game board to play on, cookies, and a candle in the mail last week. It’s cute. I doubt Josie will last 30 minutes, and I’m hoping it doesn’t go much longer than that.

Morning! It’s a gorgeous weekend, sunny, warm with a little breeze. I did my mowing last night and a couple yard things already this morning so I plan to lay on the hammock and enjoy the yard. I might put on the sprinkler for the kids at some point.
Yesterday was so busy with work and kids and in the middle of all of it B and I chatted and we decided to get a bigger bike for him, well bikes are sold out everywhere! We found the last one in a town 20 min away. But it’s here and he loves it!

And no to vacationing with my MIL. I could do a weekend with them, but that’s about it, we have never done this btw.
We’ve gone on short trips with my parents a lot.

Morning. It’s raining here too. We are supposed to get a reprieve for the afternoon and then it’ll come back later tonight. I got my covid results and much to no one’s surprise it’s negative. Dh is taking the girls to a birthday party at 2, so hopefully the park equipment and such dries before then. I’ll just be hanging at home willing myself to go into labor, unsuccessfully.
We have taken a vacation with my IL’s when we were first married. It was a cruise, with separate cabins, and we call kind of did our own thing except for meal times. Worked for me. I don’t know how it would go now, with kids involved. Really, I just want to go on any vacation. A girl I follow on IG is on vacation with her family in one of the Carolinas and it looks gorgeous and so calm.
Random, but does anyone who has recently had a baby have a recommendation on a diaper bag? I think I want a backpack style bag but I don’t know what I really want.

Hi! We made a Home Depot run this morning...$500 later we emerged with terribly exciting things like a giant trash can, ladder, new lightbulbs, and blinds to replace roller shades in the secondary bedrooms. #adulting I’d forgotten how annoying it is shopping with kids, though...sheesh! COVID was kind of nice for that, perfect excuse not to take them Our next door neighbors were nice enough to invite us to their daughter’s birthday party earlier today. We met more neighbors/other ppl from neighborhood, and our kids swam and played on the giant inflatable water slide they rented—I don’t think C even stopped to eat 😂Nice break from all the unpacking/organizing.

New fridge should deliver Wednesday morning. It was a fast process when you go in and say you want cheap, simple, and can deliver fast!
Going to be lazy the rest of the weekend. At some point, I need to fire up my laptop and print off all the invoice I need to enter Monday AM.

I found a gorgeous patio set, used, for a great price. If it sells before they message me back, I might scream 😔

mwhip I forgot to comment but I’m glad you’re back safely and had a good trip—sorry about the fridge, though! That happened to my parents once with a hurricane, it was not delightful.

We just got home from dinner. On the way there I called the police because we were behind a tow truck and as we passed the sun reflected perfectly on their windshield as I was looking over and I saw a baby sitting face forward in the lap of the front seat passenger. Sure enough when I looked back that is exactly what I saw. Baby couldn’t have been more than 6-7 months old and there was no car being towed so it wasn’t an odd emergent situation (although better alternatives I would think). Dh rolled his eyes at me but we were getting on the highway and one slam of the brakes and that baby would hit the windshield. The State police said they were headed right there but we were getting off the highway at that point.
Then at dinner our table was super wobbly, which was just annoying, and my mom literally didn’t stop talking. Even when others were so I felt like I was fighting to hear the whole time. I was also uncomfortable with the waitress leaning over to give us our meals or refill drinks. She was masked but it was too close for comfort.
Then we walked a bit down the street and I was disappointed that people waiting to get in restaurants were not wearing masks or adequately distanced. I get that you don’t need one at the table but you need to wear them anytime you can’t be more than 6ft away per our executive order. Our state is doing great and I would hate to see things slide back.
Oh and dh has been snappy with me for days. And on the car ride home he was snappy. So not the best night out. 😾

I promised myself I’d go to bed early tonight, but I started Little Fires Everywhere and now I’m invested and don’t want to stop.
