hangry, DH and I did ancestry! No Hispanic in this girl! When in trouble while growing up, my mom and abuela would say full name, get your black Puerto Rican butt over here! Abuela is Puerto Rican by birth but otherwise not genetic Spanish anything in there! I'm 37% African so more than I thought! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk H was 27% Italian and 24% Spanish! We always assumed all Spanish because some of his great, greats were from Spain. It did give him a region of Puerto Rico that his heritage is from. It was really cool.

I always find the ancestry fascinating. For instance, if you were 100% native american and YH was 100% spanish, your child will not be 50% na and 50% spanish. They could be 30% na and 70%spanish. I want to get mine done. vino My grandfather was Canadian. Who knew? WE COULD BE RELATED!

West? Yup...I have no idea. My dad's mother came here from Germancy in 1915. I asked my dad a couple years ago how his parents met. He said he came down to do railroad work in Minnesota from Canada. I replied with, " SO WE'RE CANADIAN?" I was looking for the gif when barney learns he's part canadian, but I couldn't find it. So this will have to do.

I tried explaining this concept to my dad and he was adamant about it being 50/50. Could not wrap his brain around anything otherwise.

H bought 23 and me, the DNA testing thing. I think he said it was 50% off. I know some people before were interested in the Ancestry one. We sent our samples off a couple weeks ago! I can't wait for the results. I think the one I saw on Amazon also included the health testing which we did not do. we got our results back a few weeks ago and it was fascinating! H had zero surprises and was exactly what he thought he was. Me? Shocked as shit. Turns out with some digging that my (Jewish) great grandfather was disowned when he married a Roman Catholic girl. His family had a funeral and burned his clothes and everything. I was only ever told that I was Catholic, end of story. My genes are from a completely different part of Europe than I was told. I wish I could find out more. Oh and I might get Alzheimer's. Boo.
