Just a random in regards to screwing around in the office and my weirdo co-irkers. My work is primarily administrative and I do a lot of medical record review and report writing. One of our docs routinely disappears for hours at a time and it's been discovered he hangs out a lot at Burger King. Not the place I would disappear for hours if I did such things. You would never guess this guy makes ~250k a year. He's always very disheveled and unkempt. Shocker that he's probably not doing his work from home because he doesn't do his work from work. These problem people aren't surprises. I'm laughing but it's not funny! Our former Chief spent an inordinate amount of time at Starbucks, probably 4 hours a day. We also have a computer application that you click into to show if you are in the office, field, on leave, or teleworking since the officers are so mobile. He was always the one to click IN first in the morning by 6am. No one ever goes in that early so it took years to discover that he was clicking in while at home and then driving the 45min into work where he would be up people's butts if they clicked in 2 mins late. He was horrible. He also thought people teleworking were slacking off. I can telework once a pay period regularly and if needed more. Officers can telework up to 3 times a pay period. I really miss my office and coworkers but I wouldn't mind some sort of split schedule where I telework 2-3 days a week. My overall daily stress is down and my neck and back where I hold it are so much better and the knots just melted away.

Must be contractor quote day, I've got emails into two companies for fence replacement and to a plumber to have a couple things looked it.

slenle sounds like a good compromise for the recital. I'm glad N will have a chance to show off what she's learned and wear the costume!

I’m in the car outside the vets office. They aren’t letting people inside so you talk to the tech on the phone and then they come get the pet and the Dr will call. This sounds fabulous to me since I have no concerns so it’s just vaccines and nail trims for the two cats. Well they kept us waiting in the car for 20mins. During that time one cat vomited and the other may have pooped himself. I smelled it but couldn’t find it. So the tech finally comes out and they are going to take one cat in at a time. How is that efficient? Just take both, do both, and return both!
If I was managing this place it would go so much smoother. Sigh 😔

I had a parents teacher conference about the first grade today (only one parents allowed, divided in groups etc). I feel weirdly emotional about it. I cannot believe this is already happening. I’m sad I do not get to sing again in his class in the morning with the other parents and children and won’t be able to do the rituals that normally take place when the kids transfer. I suck at change. But I’m blaming it on my hormones .

Did you ever get the baseboards and cabinets (I think?) done? I didn't, I had most of my quotes and then COVID happened. So I have a couple things that I want done that isnt cosmetic stuff; small leak from toilet to basement, heat register not working in my en suite, add insulation in the attic and maybe even add in a hot water line to the outside. So I'll focus on that this calendar year then figure out a plan for the big reno next year sometime. It bums me out, but I figure if I do some work on the bones of the house then when we do the cosmetic we, FX, shuoldnt run into problems.

wedding lol. That guy sounds like he was a total douche. And to have the nerve to chastise others. Don't throw stones in glass houses and all that.

After two months of a lot of time inside the house, I was tired of looking at everything I don’t like and decided to move forward with the kitchen makeover. I have so many things I want to improve including furniture so I basically need to win the lotto.

Grr. Just got notice to return next week. As usual it appears the higher-ups have no clue what we do because they don't seem to get it we can do all work from home. My boss is a nice guy but very ineffectual boss. He clearly is afraid and said we can address it with him individually, I know this is because he doesn't want people to share information and "gang up on him" and thinks he can quash this easier individually. I'm requesting a meeting with him and his boss. I want someone to have to answer to my face why they won't support better work-life balance when where I do my work should not make a difference to them as long as I get it done.

That stinks inthekitty, I’m sorry. I think at least letting people WFH thru the summer while childcare is iffy and we wait to see what happens with school would be gracious of them. Hopefully they will reconsider after your meeting. My dad is an executive recruiter so he talks to business higher ups all day long. So many of his clients have gone to WFH and it’s a huge recruiting tool for him to poach employees from other companies that are in offices.

I hope you can talk them into letting you work from home for the majority of the week if nothing else.

I watched the goldfinch one amazon prime. That’s 2.5 hours of my life I won’t get back.

My babies are home. H gave me a super long hug when she saw me and S would not stop talking. She has so much to tell us about her weekend away. Mostly the same 5 stories over and over again. They’re in bed and I’m going to sleep in a few minutes. Showering is the worst right now and I would be happy if the next shower was after baby is born. It’s so much work.

A has no service on his trip. I'm used to us being apart but not being able to talk to him is killing me. I need to vent about so many things that he'll agree with me on! I need the nodding and "yes!" From him so I feel validated in my feelings. I realize I'm crazy. And I'm spending the day with my sil tomorrow and I'm so nervous. I need him to talk me down.

Taps ate my reply about 5 times. Here what I salvaged: I’m just checking in. As for working from home, I hope those of you who want to can continue to do so in the coming months. (I’m sorry it didn’t work out that way, inthekitty) I love having mh home. Teaching remotely is never going to fully be a thing in a public high school so I’ll enjoy it for the time being. I joined a reopening the schools Facebook group. Those people are crazy and clearly have no idea how a school works. It’s entertainment for sure. I declared today (now yesterday) the last day of school for the kids. Reports cards for K came out, we dropped off books and picked up summer work and other little gifts at Josie’s school. I ran around for curbside pick up errands. I have a lot of mulch and trim work to do, but the kids said they’d help. M has grades due on Thursday so hopefully he’ll finish up early and make the outside work go a little faster.
