Anyone want to discuss? Theres a bunch of us who really disliked her preachy style on the book thread so I know others are familiar. I dont celebrate anyone going through a hard time. I just find it interesting that they continued to peddle this BS knowing they should not be giving advice.

My sister bought my mom, "Girl, Stop Apologizing" for mother's day and they were both so excited about it they I didn't have the heart to break it to them that she's awful.

I know, I wanted to love her so much, I read both books too and even went to the movie in the theater with a friend. But there was always just way too many problematic anecdotes/beliefs. I saw a post saying shes just going to turn this into Girlfriends Guide to Divorce (the show) and i could not agree more.

I saw a post saying she turned in her latest book to the publisher in march. I wonder what that one is about...

Me either. I had listened to one of those rise podcasts and her fix it solution for bad marriage was to have a date night once a week (hire a babysitter! Go out!) And I was like wow original advice. Not to mention expensive. But if you want it bad enough you'll pay for it! You'll find the money! And if you dont I guess you just do a bad job of prioritizing your marriage 🙄🙄

I dont even care about the divorce but tdont sell yourself as SO REAL while recording a podcast about marriage advice and thriving through quarantine only to announce you were actually in the midst of breaking up. It is interesting that a lot of her long time fans are turning on her over this.
Yet not after pretending she wrote the quote by Maya Angelou a month ago. So many eye rolls.

I really can’t stand them. I’m not surprised at all. I don’t feel sorry for them at all either, just the kids. When you make a ton of money telling people any problems they have are their own fault, I’m not going to feel badly when you have problems.

She’s human garbage and I hate her. I’m sure she’ll fine a way to monetize this

She’s human garbage and I hate her. I’m sure she’ll fine a way to monetize this New book: "Girl, you can start over." She is so shallow and they are so phony because they've been doing marriage podcasts until recently even though they're about to get divorced. Her toxic positivity brand is so eye roll worthy at best.

I can’t remember which book of hers I started and I still have Girl Wash Your Face untouched on my nightstand from last year. I haven’t read or listened to anything else but did start hate following her on Instagram after reading a bit of her book. She always has bothered me and I’m here for how this plays out.

The Mean Book Club Rachel Hollis episode - can’t recommend it enough. I'm going to check this out! I read Girl Wash Your Face and thought it lacked substance and I briefly followed her on Instagram before I got sick of her. I don't know a lot about her but enough to know she's shady. I know a lot of really smart women that are really into her though. My SIL was going to go to one of the RISE conferences but I don't think she ended up going.

So as we all suspected, Rachel Hollis is planning to capitalize on this and has a new book releasing at the end of September. She thinks she's qualified to give advice on a situation she's still right in the middle of. Maybe wait until you've had some distance and perspective first?

The book is just too much. I was sure we would be hearing all about the divorce with her podcast and blogs but to write a divorce book when the ink isn’t even dry on the divorce papers is over the top (gross) even for her.
She is at the starting line here for divorce and coparenting. Maybe take some time to learn and grow yourself before *helping others* through something you’re just beginning. They only within the past few weeks had their first night away from the kids in separate places. At least that’s what was posted on social media.
This honestly pisses me off.

Saw this coming 100% and it's just...peak terrible Rachel Hollis. She remains the worst and I'm sure the advice will be just as bad as in her other books.

I'm not a fan because of her constant plagiarizing of other people's aphorisms. Granted, social media is kind of a Wild West but you can't slap up someone else's saying without attributing it to them. Of course she wanted her followers to think she came up with those thoughts herself. She knew what she was doing with that. You can tell because she kept doing it despite getting called out over and over. So I've thought she was a fraud for a while. It didn't surprise me to find out she'd been lying about her marriage and personal life too.
Also I think it's waaaay too soon to be offering other people advice about how to get over your marriage falling apart. What has she even learned yet? It hasn't been that long. She should have given it at least a year before writing a book about putting your life back together.
