Too tired Tuesday

Hey ladies, thanks for all the support last night, I really appreciate it.

Hope everyone is doing well today!

Evie ended up being admitted to the hospital. They came in around 10 and told us the mri showed cause for concern and they were calling a bone and joint specialist. He came in and wanted to pull fluid from her knee. They gave her some ketamine which was so hard to watch, pulled a large syringe of fluid, and finally got her to a room at 1am.

Shes on fluids, antibiotics and pain meds. She slept pretty good, all things considered, but it really fucking sucks to not be able to help her or tell her what's going on.

I slept in a recliner for maybe 2 hours. I haven't eaten since 2pm yesterday. I'm pretty sure I wont fall back to sleep so I'm trying to convince myself to try to get up and find coffee, but my back hurts from this fucking chair.

I hope she gets released today. They mentioned infectious disease may come in today.

M woke me up at 5:30. He had pooped in his bed. He was covered so I jumped up to clean him up and MJ woke up. Got him clean and settled on the couch. Didn't get her back to sleep until nearly 6:30. Then fucking flash barking at sun spots woke her at 7:15... now she's back asleep and I have to pee but I'm not moving! I need her sleep normal so she naps normal and is in a good mood for her pictures today

Yes, they had said we would hear something 30-45 minutes after the draw last night, but never did. The dr that came in when we got to her room said they would monitor the fluid for a few days to see I'd anything grows. I dont know what they means in terms of how long we will be here.

The nurse told me shift change is at 7, so I'm hoping drs start coming in around that time as well.

I found some crappy coffee, but it was free and close. I didnt want to be gone too long, in case she woke up. And there were nutrigrain bars there so I grabbed one of those as well. I'm feeling a bit more human!

At least at my hospital they typically round from like 9-11am. Unsure if this is the norm for all hospitals but just an FYI, you may not hear anything until they start going around in a big group, patient by patient.

The orthopedic doctors just came in. They said the fluid makes them think it isnt an infection but they arent sure what is going on. They will work with the pediatric team to determine the next steps, likely more imaging, but no surgery at this point. So that's good, but the dr, the boss of the guy from last night, is not sure what is going on.

Shes still sleeping, which is what she needs.

Well, I’m glad they don’t think it’s an infection, but I’m sure you’re worried that they don’t know what’s going on. I wish we could drone you a Bloody Mary or something.

Omg, a bloody mary sounds amazing and like it would knock me out! A pediatrician came by and checked her out. Evie got up and walked and went potty. The swelling seems the same to me as yesterday. The pediatrician said shes pretty stumped as well. She said she'd be around in a few hours when the big group makes rounds.

Evies saying this is the slowest hotel. Oh kid, it's just starting.

Ds’ stuffy nose seems to have subsided, Dd got worse on the other hand. When I told her she couldn’t go to school, she cried. I felt like I was punishing her for having a runny nose, but made sure we had a fun morning (work be damned 😉). She got to watch lots of tv while mommy worked, got a new craft kit and got to make witches soup in the sink with the cucumber juice, lemon rinds and some other bits and bobs I had left over from making the Greek dinner with tzaziki for tonight.

No idea although they definitely are still leaning toward some kind of injury and this has just built up, and gone unnoticed.

Nothing like being asked multiple times how your kid injured herself, to make you feel like an asshole.

I forgot to go a different way this morning because of George Floyd's funeral, so I was a little late to work. Since the funeral is private, they're allowing people to pay their respects by lining up along the procession route so traffic was a bit crazy. I feel terrible for his family and friends. The people of Houston are really supporting them. We always seem to come together in times of crisis and I love that about our city.

You're not an asshole. I'm sure it feels like they're judging you, but they know kids injure themselves all the time.
