::whispers:: They've always been there. They're a lot bigger now, or at least they are for me. But I'm on my phone, never a desktop so maybe it's different for others? They’ve always been on the desktop version. I only use the app on my phone when I’m not at work & there’s never been badges or post count on it. I don’t like the mobile version.

I never saw them on my phone before (unless I was switched to desktop version for whatever reason). Them showing on mobile is new (for me at least).

The saga continues: {FIL Responded to DH} FIL told DH that I put MIL in the middle which I did because I wasn't comfortable talking to him.
He shared it because it was interesting to him, but it wasn't meant to start the Great Debate. Not that he has to explain himself. Anyone could choose to like it, hate it, or just ignore it. If we think he is racist for posting that, we're looking to start a fight.
I wouldn't even know how to respond this if it was me who had to respond to it. I put it behind a spoiler for those who don't want to deal with it! Can I just say I am very proud of sarahwithanh for all she's doing on Facebook. She is truly an ally!

Cheshie6 So how did he respond to your FIL? What is Sarah doing on FB? (I'd say for those of us that don't have FB but I'm pretty sure it's just me at this point.)

tgrimes, he hasn't yet. He's waiting to cool off because if he were to write right now, it's all me curses and that wouldn't accomplish anything. Sarah is posting a lot of information on Black history, things going on in the news, and not trying to sugar coat things. She's posting about wearing masks, things like discussing salaries, LGBTQIA+ issues, etc.

Ohh Cheshie6 I'm sorry. Do you think it's possible to actually get through to him?

Cheshie6 thank you for saying that. I honestly feel like I'm not doing that much. I've been listening and learning for a few years and now I'm just trying to change the minds I can and amplify some really wise voices. I wish I could do more. (There are some other things I'm doing but yea it just seems like small potatoes). I'm so sorry that you are experiencing that with your ILs. It's not ok and 100% a byproduct of white Fragility. I honestly don't think I truly understood fragility until the last few weeks. The amount of times I've been called a bully or been told I'm attacking people and been blocked is truly astonishing. That said it's different for me as a white woman. It is NOT ok that you have to fight against racism in your own family.

As far as the alphabet is concerned M is obsessed. Honestly though I give full credit to YouTube. I genuinely think I'm the worst teacher parent because M has learned more through screentime than any other medium. Cheshie6 since L is so into trains you could try making letter train tracks with tape and have him drive his trains over letters. You may even be able to find some free letter road printables online that are printable. You could then have him say the names or sounds as you drive. Find a certain letter road to drive on or any other fun game. It can be hard to find the right think kids are interested in but once you do it will be easier. Shaving cream, sensory bags (hair gel in a bag that they can trace), wiki sticks, Legos with letters written on them (or taped on), making letters out of food, etc. Just keep trying different things. Music is key for M.

sarahwithanh, I honestly don't feel like I'm doing much either! I live in a very white state and there's still a pandemic going on. I'm just not about to try to take a 3 year old to a march and risk losing him. (It's way too hot to wear him) When Bill gets home tomorrow evening, we're quarantining for 2 weeks. My in-laws don't confront things, and when something with tension is brought to them, they ignore it. Which is white privilege that they can pretend they don't have implicit bias. We have an appointment with a local SLP. I told her, we don't like the SLP at our school and she said, she hears that a lot with our school district. They approach things differently. SLP at school is only going to work on sounds in isolation, whereas this SLP uses the Kaufman method of CAS and that what they used with him before school and he had so much growth! L still isn't about youtube or being on a tablet. He asks for it, but rarely. I need the Thomas people to make a game with the alphabet. I swear he learned numbers from that episode where Nia learns to read numbers. (She's a newer engine from Africa) Now he's trying to count to twenty, but gets caught up in 14, 15, 16, lol.

When I took M he was in the wagon. My friend took her two kids and brought a wagon. In our city things have been super organized and safe and kid friendly. There are quite a few strollers. I actually went to an accessibility BLM March though. We are going to what sounds like an awesome family March next Sunday with youth speakers. I broke my toe this week so taking it a little easy. The teen number mix up is super common. It lasts into kindergarten for a bunch of kids and just takes time and practice. School speech therapy is never as good as private (well I guess I shouldn't say never). School therapy in general focuses on school success whereas private is just much more individualized and intensive. We do both for OT, PT, and speech. We also do music therapy which is super motivating and helps with multiple areas. This summer we are doing an art/music therapy camp and a speech therapy camp. I'm super excited. Plus tball and gymnastics at the YMCA. For tball it's outside and 5 kids and gymnastics is only 2 kids so I'm feeling pretty safe.
