What do you miss that you didn’t expect and what will be the first thing you’ll do once you’re allowed to again?

I knew I would miss it, but my manicures. My nails looking bad effects my mood so much.

I miss my weekly mommy daughter date. I miss not being able to visit my parents (or anyone for that matter). I miss concerts with dh (that was our date thing) and going out for dinner and drinks. Oh and grocery shopping with Dd, she was always so cute and sweet when it’s just two two of us at the store.
ETA the first thing I would do? Not sure. Probably have cake and coffee somewhere, inside, without feeling stressed. I don’t see concerts happening this year 😕.
ETA ohhhh and fly my sister out here!

I miss Target. As much as I dislike a lot of people, I miss human interaction besides my family. I miss talking to my boss in person. I miss bottomless chips and salsa at my favorite Mexican joint.

peachsmama it's funny about manicures, I don't really enjoy the act of having it done but I love the result. If I'm ever 'wallowing' in a bad mood, DH will suggest going to get my nails done, and he's right--it always makes me feel better!

When this all started, I quit doing my nails since I wasn't seeing anyone. My nails do much better when they have something on them, so I started doing my nails again a few weeks ago and it does help a lot. At least when I look down while typing, I see my pretty nails, even if no one else does.

Simple things like interacting with the other moms at preschool drop-off, or helping out in B's classroom. Just that feeling of being connected to the community.
I really miss eating out...having someone else prepare/serve/clean up = priceless.
eta: first thing I will do...besides see my parents...shopping trip to Dillards, lol. I also want Botox again, I feel like this spring has aged me 5 years :/

And the queso isn't steamy and hot like I want it lol. We have ordered Mexican about once a week during all this, but I actually eat my entire meal and very few chips and salsa. I want to fill up no chips an salsa, then eat a few bites of my meal, and have amazing leftovers!

The only thing I’m real salty about is travel. I had a few trips/vacations in the works and was so looking forward to a new destination this summer and now all of that is moot. I just got a price alert a few days ago that my San Diego flight was less than $200. 😔
Other than that, the usual restaurant and store browsing. Most of all I miss my time at home ALONE. I need my space to decompress, think, and not be bothered.

They're enjoying their alone time and I'm getting none.

I miss my kids going to school. Or going to someone else’s house without me. I miss being able to go to any store I want, whenever I want, to get something. I miss hanging out with friends. I miss not having to wear a mask at work.
When everything is back to normal I don’t know what my first thing I want to do is. Drop my kids off at a camp or daycare and decompress. My guess is that it won’t happen until after baby but that’s fine, I can snuggle with her alone.

Speaking of manicures, my salon reopens tomorrow. All kinds of safety measures are in place and I got an appointment for 10 am Saturday morning. I'm ecstatic. Our governor just announced a schedule for things opening up. Hopefully our numbers stay low and it goes okay here.

Honestly #1 would be just seeing family and friends. My sister and BIL just bought a new house and I've only seen the outside. The kids miss their cousins so much.
Other things high up there: Restaurants School The park

I miss mani/pedis and eating out. I’d like a long lazy lunch at the Mexican place as way to celebrate being in public again!

I didn't expect not having anything to look forward to for the foreseeable future. I'm doubting going back to school, our beach trip, or planning any trips. I really miss just interactions with my coworkers I'd see around the office and my kind of depressing cube.
I just am looking forward to going somewhere without anxiety of it being a risk to go and having to determine if it's worth the risk to do whatever it is. I would like to fly somewhere. I'm trying to cancel my flight for a wedding next week and United is trying to give me double the flight in credit to use in 24 months. Hopefully United exists in 2 years and it's safe to fly by then..

We went from that, to a long weekend nearby, to a fancy dinner...and looks like we'll be doing take out. Maybe one day we'll get to Europe We were starting to think about our 10 year anniversary and a 40th bday trip for mh this summer... maybe 11th and 41st will be celebrated a bit more😔

We were looking to plan a big trip to Europe next year for our 10 year and I don't know if that will happen now. I'm kinda sad that we didn't get to do that before this pandemic started because I feel like this will forever change international travel. Maybe not forever, but definitely for the foreseeable future.

My parents are planning a 14 day trip to Mexico in September.. I told them to get travel insurance. I want to reschedule our Florida trip for just before school will hopefully be starting but I'm waiting to see how everything goes once states start reopening. And hopefully that gives Mallory time to stop having water.. girl still screams bloody murder every.single.time. we bathe her.

I feel like I lost half of my identity overnight. Like at home I’m a mom and wife but at work I’m someone people come to do get shit done and have really cute work clothes. I liked that transition in the morning kind of turning off one and on the other. Now everything is blurred. I don’t know if I’m explaining it right and it wasn’t something I really thought about before.
I also miss picking C up from after care and all the kids saying bye or high fiving him. He had a completely separate life than us during the day and I loved hearing about it. He lost that part of who he is too and it’s hard to see that.
What am I looking forward to? Seeing my friends. I’m also way behind in my shows because I’m never alone anymore so I will take a day or half day off and be alone to recharge.

In my experience kids that hate the bath don’t necessarily hate the pool/water. I think they get a Pavlovian response to the tub or something that they are going to get washed/their hair rinsed.

For me it's not so much a particular place it's having the option for a variety of different things. Our area has a lot of events (like outdoor fun fair type things), especially this time of year. Being able to explore and take day trips to nearby towns. Roller skating. I haven't went to the zoo in years but I've had an urge to go. The splash stream in front of The Children's Museum. The farmers market in it's normal state where I can casually look around at the crafts then enjoy some food while listening to live music (it's open now but kind of a creepy vibe with half the vendors and no music).
Most of the stuff I miss isn't opening anytime soon and unfortunately most of the stuff for kids won't either. It makes me salty that places like bars, restaurants, and gyms are earlier on the list than parks. I really think we're doing a disservice to kids by not giving them anything, but meanwhile it's cool for adults to go risky places.
I know some people talk about missing the office. I don't--at all. I don't ever want to go back. The one coworker I like we stay connected through email and text all day at work. I'd rather see him as a friend outside of work. If it were a normal situation with the kids in school it'd be amazing for me.
