Morning!
I’m supervising B’s schoolwork. DH and I cleaned out the pantry and freezer earlier to make our grocery list/meal plan for the next couple weeks to try and use up whatever we have on hand.
This feels like my time to shine as a Navy wife, lol...years of experience and practice are paying off 🙌🏻😂

jewels I’m laughing, your B sounds like C. wineallthetime that looks delicious! I love crunchy salads Maybe I’m being an ostrich with my head in the sand, but I’m still thinking school will be back in the fall. I just don’t think our society can function without kids back. Everyone from Trump to Cuomo to Newsome has said essentially the same thing—finding a way to get kids back full-time is a priority. That’s not to say there shouldn’t be back-up plans, of course.

I have avoided stores other than for essential shopping. Yesterday I was going nuts and had to get out for a while and not just for another neighborhood walk. I went to WalMart and got the girls some summer clothes. They have a lot of the cheap, soft, microfibery type clothes and the girls love those. I buy similar stuff for pajamas and they constantly steal mine. The last few nights they wore my pajamas, but tied them with hair ties so they'd stay up.

My mom was really sweet and sent us a package yesterday. In it were some masks she told me she was ordering from some relative of a relative. She mentioned they were free but "accepting donation." I sincerely hope she didn't pay much. She went mask crazy and sent us a bunch. Out of all of them only a few were decent. Clearly she didn't have access to elastic so some had ribbon sew in and fit very oddly. The kid ones were all tie with strings a bit too small which would be a PITA for a quick store run. I appreciate the effort, but clearly these weren't made by a crafty seamstress. I ordered masks and hope they arrive soon.

So M has been on a kick about getting a dog. Everyone is out walking dogs in the neighborhood and he is starting to be a lot less afraid of them. He has pretty much decided he is getting one for his birthday. Yesterday he had a notepad and pencil and sat beside and asked me what I want to name the new puppy he is getting in November. 😬
As much as I would like a dog, now is still not the time. I probably won’t change my mind by November either, but you never know. 🤷🏽♀️

Ugh Ds’ best friend mom just called. They’re transferring schools. I more than understand, there’s a new school opening up just 5 minutes from their house and are currently traveling 45 minutes by bike twice a day most days, but Ds is going to be heartbroken.

The day hasn't been bad. The little girl is 18 months, she cried the first 45 minutes saying "daddy go home" but settled in and has been playing since. We played outside for an hour. I'm hoping she will nap, I've got her laid on the couch watching Mickey. She's not a fan of MJ though lol. She says "no baby no" to her every time she comes close. The little boy and J are two peas in a pod and are playing in the gravel with construction vehicles.

I have a virtual PTO meeting tonight. Curious what they have to say. Hoping to get some info on what the school is thinking for next year. Our governor proposed a split schedule of 2 days in school, 3 e-learning. And there would be 2 groups of students that would attend on opposite days. That sounds awful for everyone. A and I are considering a home school curriculum if they do something unreasonable. At least then I can create our schedule. I really really don't want that though.. peachsmama just wondering how teachers would manage this... I mean they would have to teach 4 days 🤔. Or is e-learning different than distance learning? Part of this is what they’re doing here, split classes, alternating longer days, working on assignments on other days, no more zoom lessons etc. I have to say both kids are thrilled beyond reason to see there friends and go to school again even if just for two days. Freaking out a bit because various districts in our county are discussing this, too. How the hell are people supposed to work?!

I hope whatever they decide to do includes getting special needs students back ASAP. These teletherapy appointments are garbage.

I just wrote this whole rant about distance learning but deleted. You all know my feels on it. If it seems like we will be at that point again at the fall I will be very publicly upset.
Also, dh is home today and tomorrow which is great. I'm glad to have the help and turn over home school to him. I looked at today and there were 2 assignments and tomorrow there are none. How did I have to do 9 assignments Monday and Tuesday and he only has 2? Petty Betty party of 1!

wedding can you ask for all the assignments on Monday to spread out over the week yourself? Are you connected with any of his classmates' parents to see how they are feeling about it?

I really hope that is the case for you so it goes much smoother for the remainder of the school year.

I said eff it this morning and even though I had work I went for a long jog to the Sound. The girls joined me on their bikes. The sound of the fake ocean was so relaxing and totally worth it. I explored the beach a lot longer than I usually do. I felt much better when I returned to my computer.

So mh caught our middle boy cat peeing on the walls in the litter box area. Not in a oops, he missed the box kind of way, either. He knew what he was doing. So I brought out another box and put it in the master bathroom. This cat now sits at the bathroom door monitoring who goes in and out. I also watched him sit outside the box and scoop out paws of litter and spread it around the floor. Wtf cat?

Sorry I’m so late to updating. My appt was non-eventful, cervix is the same as yesterday so we are just keeping an eye on things and my next scheduled appt is in 2 weeks. I am going to take a chill pill and try to be a little less active.

I hope whatever they decide to do includes getting special needs students back ASAP. These teletherapy appointments are garbage. Our state mentioned yesterday that they may bring some kids back in a phased approach, specifically those with EIPs and ELL as priority to get back for better services. Hoping your state recognizes the need too. I saw that they tentatively have our schools back to full time in January. And all sorts of options for the fall. I may actually need to try to teach j something instead of letting him coast.

Hi hi - I am toying with the idea of taking off tomorrow. I'm just spent. I also think I'm going to order some paint supplies and tackle that bathroom paint project I've been talking about. I may dust off my running shoes too and try to do the 2.32m run for the #irunwithmaud tomorrow or this weekend.
That's about all that's new here. We finished Waco on Netflix, and apparently I didn't remember how it ended bc that was horrific. I literally just remember it being on the news a lot from when I was 10 or so 🤦. It was a well done show though. I want to start Mindy Kalings show and watch the Michelle Obama documentary next.

Usually it’s more even. This week was just BS. We have two girls in his class on our street. The one I speak to isn’t happy with the content (agrees it’s busy work) but doesn’t have an issue with it otherwise because his daughter is an eager rule follower. I’ve seen one or two other kids seemingly struggle with paying attention but not to Cs level.

My distance learning rant: First the asst principal writes that comment about screen time (which I let go of quickly) but then he posts a seesaw assignment in addition to everything else we had today that the kids should draw a picture and write a few things they love about their mom and then record why they love her so much. Does he think these kindergarteners are doing this work without help? I’ do not want to assist in the planning and executing my own mother’s day card.

Preschool sent home a Mother’s Day activity and then she put instructions in the packet that said “sorry you have to help make your own gift”. I guess I could have made dh do it but all I had to do was have S color something, cut it out and then put it inside of a mug. I haven’t seen anything in H’s school work about Mother’s Day.

Here’s my distance learning rant. H’s last day of school is 5/20. They are having us pick up her supplies and things left at school on the 18th. It sure would have been nice to have her notebooks, crayons, etc during the last 3 months. We are lucky that we have that stuff at home, some kids don’t. Once they called school for the rest of the year they should have arranged this pick up.

Ok, maybe this cat is just eccentric. I gave him a piece of chicken at dinner and he touched it with his paw a couple of times, smelled his paw, then ate the chicken. Weirdo.
