After the playground, we checked out a mall we haven't been to in ages while we were in the area. I was surprised that they didn't have a play area or anything but they did have a Lego store. DS enjoyed that & then repaid us by causing a scene leaving by not wanting to go like a toddler. Idk what it is with him sometimes, he just doesn't care. Then he'll regret it later & try to barter through crying/screaming saying he just wanted to do the vehicle challenge thing that I told him to do 3-4 times before we left but he was too focused on another area & finding a stupid piece that he saw & then lost. He also threw a few I hate both of yous into the mix so that was nice. 😕 woof. You try to do nice things for the kid. Like we've been out majority of the day. It's time to go. Come on. I even give him time warnings like in 5-10 minutes, we're done. He agrees too like no problem & then he throws a fit. Ugh

We drove to a fancy playground 45 minutes away that we've been meaning to check out for a while now & ds spent most of the time at the sandbox. Dude, we could have done that at home. He was also the oldest kid there. I've been noticing that lately when we go places. Do older kids not like playing outside anymore? Much confused. We have the opposite problem. Whenever we go to playgrounds there's older kids around, like 5/6/7 probably, zero toddlers. And of course now that we're OAD all of a sudden I'm like, "omg! I need to find kids his age to play with!" Like, I know he's only two and odds are he'll be fine and make tons of friends as he actually grows into the ability to form friendships, but I all of a sudden feel all this pressure to make sure he's getting socialized right, and meanwhile, he is normally just happy to be doing his thing, with whatever kids are there, or even just by himself.

We had a really nice, quiet family day. A nice blend of getting things done, but I also still got a great nap in while DS was down for his nap. So not ready to go back and deal with work tomorrow already!

DH is working with my dad to run the electrical wire for the outlets in the new kitchen. Slowly but surely we are making progress on this reno. We did go out for a bit this morning to pick up some beer for our mini-vac in Canada next week. Craft beer up there is freakin' expensive. Tomorrow my plan for the day is to do laundry and get most of our stuff packed & ready to go so I only have to throw together the last minute stuff on Tuesday before we leave. Really looking forward to a few days off from work. It is much needed. where in Canada are you guys going? We are staying on Lake Kennebec with some friends who rented a house there. It's only about 3.5 hours from us, so not terribly far, but it will be nice to get away for a few days.

The ILs are in town, so between that and the holiday it's been a busy week. I'm going out tonight for drinks with girlfriends (holy introvert panic, Batman!). DD has her first ever sleepover tonight, too. She's very excited and we're excitedly nervous. She's never been away from us over night. One of us has always been at home and done a bedtime routine with her. She may or may not be brushing her teeth tonight. remind me, where did you find these new girlfriends that you jive so well with?

We didn't really hang out during those years but saw each other every day. Our kids all connect and we eventually realized we connect, too.
