Oi! I dread work now. I love my job but I hate it with two kids.
I’m feeling a lot better. I still have some wheezing, fatigue and my stupid finger tips tingle occasionally. But other than that I feel a lot better. I’m not 100% convinced that my test was correct. I will probably seek out the antibody test in few weeks because I’m very curious.
The kids are driving me nuts, but it could be worse. I know it’s going to be a hard adjustment sending them back to daycare whenever that happens.

I worked all weekend from home so I'm ready for a break, but deadlines must be met so I'm back at it today. My old job didn't allow for working from home so this is all new to me, but I definitely like the option. Right now it's overflowing into my personal life but it won't always be this way.
My work stations is set up in the basement under our master bathroom. I just heard MH singing in the shower. Ha!

kam3100 - I’m not a doctor but it really sounds like your test may have been a false negative. I’m glad you’re feeling a little better.

I had H1N1 and it was very clearly something unlike I had ever had. The fatigue was extreme. If not Covid, it's one heck of a coincidence to be that sick with those symptoms during this time.

I agree with both of you. My state is ramping up testing and I’m strongly considering going on Saturday to get tested again. It’s more of me being curious than anything because I’m a lot better than I was.

We got word on Friday that our schools would not be returning this school year. I'm sad, but I am enjoying my time with the kids. I have been able to balance my work zooms with our schedule. My longest one is 11:30 - 12 so they come in my bedroom, watch TV and play. Most are only 10-15 minute check ins with some of our kids so it's NBD if Haley wonders into the screen.
DD1 has been doing pretty well with her school work. They don't give much so I have added reading and a writing activity each day. I gave her a weekly checklist broken down by days. So it gives her control of what she needs to do and when to do it. She will do some work when she wakes up, then again after breakfast. Then she will finish after lunch. If I don't have meetings, we will play a game or something while H naps.

I have also been putting together a checklist for DS1 each day (first grade). The stuff the school sends out isn't much and too easy for him. My lesson plan gives him something to do while the little ones nap at daycare. Our provider is used to having time to herself during the afternoon so I try to give him things he can do independently while not making him bored with endless worksheets. I spend hours every week planning activities. We'll see what happens once school is officially out in 5 weeks. DS1 will probably just read more during the afternoon and not be so structured.
For example, this week he chose to learn about the USA. I wasn't entirely sure what he wanted to learn so I put together some map reading exercises and he'll learn to identify and count money. Between books we have at home and ones he can access on epic!, he'll be learning about patriotic symbols and some states of interest. I found some YouTube videos to supplement as well. He also has a spelling test each week. He only complains if we try to make him do something educational on the weekends so I think he's ok with how I've structured it.

ohreally sounds like we are in the same page. Haha. I even added "chore around the house" for each day. 😂 If you haven't done so, check out scholastic magazine website. They have 4 weeks worth of books to share. Each day has a topic and they can read/listen to a fiction and a nonfiction book about the topic. They also have a short video and some follow up activities (sequencing, vocab, etc) each day

Got to take advantage of the gorgeous spring weather while we can! He started Tuesday afternoon Zoom meetings last week with his class so I have some Scholastic activities bookmarked for when he's home next Tuesday. I just set him up with WiFi at daycare last week so that's opened up some more opportunities for learning apps. I'd still like to limit him to his Amazon Freetime account so that further limits what I can load into his profile. I have hacked my account to download apps from the Play Store, but I can't make them accessible through his account. He has a couple math apps and Hoopla for audio and ebooks. Before last week, he maybe spent an hour a week on the tablet so he's loving daily tablet time!

ohreally, My daughters teacher suggested roomrecess and turtle diary? (I think), as optional activities for Friday. It is supposed to be a catch day for any work as well as a chance for the teachers to work in smaller groups/individual if kids need it. what is amazon freetime?

Amazon Freetime is an account for kids so it limits what games, videos, websites, and whatnot are accessible to them. Honestly, a year subscription came with the Kindle, but I'm not sure we really need it. I never let the kids use the tablets unsupervised so I could probably set him up with his own Amazon account and have access to more things. I just don't have the time to look into options so we're making due with what we've got. We really need a laptop but, again, I don't have the time to vet options right now and that's big money.

I decided to get another test. It’s scheduled for Saturday. My state is doing a ‘testing blitz’ every Saturday. But I will have to administer the test myself apparently. I’m waiting on the confirmation email. I am going back and forth about getting it. I’m mostly better, but if I’m positive, then there is no way any of should be going anywhere (like the store) for another week or two.
Idk, I feel crazy.

Test done. You stick a swab up your nose on one side and swirl for 15 seconds and then do it again with the same swab in the second nostril.
They only did it in one nostril and held it for 5-10 seconds on my first test.
I will hear in 24 hours.

Haley is talking so much and it is such a relief!! She tries to repeat almost everything that we say. I can't believe how much it has changed in the past few weeks. She loves saying uh-oh and ew with the cutest face. I admitted to H how worried I was.

I am still nursing, and since I always ask DS if he "wants some milk" his response has become "some" as an affirmative.

But when she wants to nurse in the morning, she will say sit and points to the chair. How are you doing with nursing? I ended up with a little cut from her teeth. so since I wasn't using the side effectively, I ended up with a huge clog last weekend. So then I had to pump. I HATE PUMPING. 😒

We are typically nursing morning and bedtime, but sometimes he's not in the mood and we just don't (maybe one evening per week). I plan to wean by his birthday (8/6, they're the same, right?), but have not started cutting down yet. A pandemic does not seem like the time to stop breastfeeding, especially since it's not like we'll be apart at bedtime any time soon.

potatocakes, I keep putting the pump stuff away, but then something will happen like this and I will need it. I'm pretty lazy about it though. I will dump the milk in a cup for her to drink. Then put the pump parts in the fridge to use at night.
