For those of you who travel- Bonus points if you've travelled to Europe, what site do you usually use to book your travel? Do you use an agent? DD1 just got her AA and will have the fall semester off before starting at a University in the spring. She and her BF want to go to Europe for a couple weeks they want to visit multiple countries and have preferences, but no place they have to go. I've mentioned TravelZoo and Groupon Getaways, but the dates on those seem to be in January right when she'd be starting school... I think a package deal would be easiest for them, instead of trek g to plan everything on their own... any thoughts or tips I can pass along? (She asked me if I could check with my August moms... lol) r She will probably be able to get the best deal by picking a base city and booking round trip tickets there through Trip Advisor or Kayak or similar. Then, she should think about other cities she'd like to go and book flights within Europe through discount airlines (Ryan Air, Easy Jet, etc), or do train travel. Oddly, depending on the route and timing, sometimes first class train tickets are actually healer than economy train tix, so she should check all options. For lodging, hostels and air bnb. She could also look into a student travel agency like STA. They may have special discounts packages and deals.

mrspiatt I would not advise saying that to your niece. She's married and therefore tied to her wife no matter the original reasons for getting married. I would treat it as you would any other marriage.

Last night I had a complete random dream about you ladies. So, in the dream I won a car on the Tim Hortons roll up the rim cup. I immediately came on here and PM'd CestLaVie and redandblue to tell them. They both pretty quickly told me if I wanted to tell everyone I should create an AE to keep my identity a secret. So I did. I posted. You all congratulated me. The next thing I know Betweenthelines PMs me my real name and my address and told me to hide my keys because she's coming for the car. Then I woke up. Lol. WTF.

mrspiatt, i agree with armpants. I would just treat it like a normal marriage and go from there. On the Europe front, we used booking.com and hostels.com to book. We flew in and out of Paris and planned a circular route from there. We found the best deals if booking about 4-5 days in advance (assuming nothing big is happening in the city). We originally were only booking hostels until we realized that we could often get a hotel room for 2 people cheaper than 2 individual hostel beds on booking.com. We got the eurorail pass so that we could travel freely and only had to worry about booking hotels along the way. Flying in and out of the same city will be cheaper, so maybe a bit of thought into how to travel away from and back to that city so that there is no backtracking is best.

mrspiatt, if you want to meet the wife, then I say go for it. But I would not mention their reasoning for getting married. Quite frankly, now matter why they got married, it's none of your business. They are still married either way.

coconutbacon how do you make your cold brew? I only have a keurig, so not sure if I need a full coffee pot? Sounds yummy though!

mrspiatt no travel advise, but that's super exciting for your DD! A co-worker's daughter just left yesterday for Europe, she went through a student travel agency or something. Your question about your niece, I agree with PP not to say that to her. If she wants to disclose her reasons she can, but she hasn't (to you anyway). And really, even if the marriage is not a true marriage, I image her and her wife must at least be very good friends (like you would have to really trust someone to enter into a relationship like that...I don't know much, but I would think the navy wouldn't look too kindly on someone who did that...therfore a big risk). My point being they must have some level of 'relationship' whether it's with all 'martial duties' or not. Not sure if I'm making sense, but wouldn't say anything. Just enjoy your time with your niece, and whoever she is hanging out with.

M has been a raging ball of misery since we got up this morning. He is currently napping, so hopefully he has a solid sleep and the afternoon will be better. I'm going to hopefully finish the second coat of paint while he sleeps!

coconutbacon how do you make your cold brew? I only have a keurig, so not sure if I need a full coffee pot? Sounds yummy though! I just do it in a big mason jar: 2/3 cup coffee with 3 cups of water (or coconut water!) cover and let it sit at room temp over night. The next morning, strain twice through a coffee filter, and serve over ice. It'll be concentrated, so you can add water, milk/ non-dairy milk, etc until it's the strength you want. I use about a one to one ratio of he cold brew to water.

I was wondering how your weekend was going for you dd bday Betweenthelines! Today has been great! Woke up (bright and early lol) made purple pancakes with rainbow sprinkles, pink funfetti cupcakes with purple frosting for school, went to an animal/game farm that is like a zoo but also has huge blowup water slides, train and pony rides, a giraffe and zebras, etc, and now we are at the mall. H had to grab some stuff so he and dd ran in while ds is passed out in the car w me. We are going to dinner soon with ils down on the water and I'm so excited for a drink!!!

We exhausted the kids at the zoo and water park (at the zoo). They are asleep now for the drive home. Parenting done right.
I've convinced my BF to do pedicures and face masks tonight with wine while we watch more Jurassic Park. I'm pumped!
