So I had my OB appointment today. Based on a few symptoms I've been having she felt it would be a good idea to check my cervix. Turns out I'm 2cm dilated. Now, we know it's possible to be dilated for weeks, and my cervix was still long, so we're not freaking out, but we are being cautious. She wants to see me again in a week to check and make sure nothing has progressed further, and until then no lifting and no sex (sorry DH).

danib Have you ever had early dilation with your previous kids? I'm glad you got checked so you can be careful.

I’ve never actually had my cervix checked with any of my pregnancies. I don’t want to get my hopes up or be disappointed since it usually doesn’t mean much.

danib Have you ever had early dilation with your previous kids? I'm glad you got checked so you can be careful. With DS1 I got checked early 2x before 34 weeks due to bleeding, but wasn't dilated. I wasn't checked again until 38.3 weeks at which time I was 1cm dilated and went in to labour that day (so no way to know if I dilated at all in the month between). With DS2 I didn't get checked at all until 37 weeks, when I was 2cm and went into labour 2 days later. But as that was the first check, I have no idea if I started dilating earlier or not. Which is why we're being cautious but not freaking out. She only checked today because I lost a huge glob of mucous (gross sorry) a few days ago and having so much pressure in my pelvis.

Hopefully baby stays put for at least 5 or 6 more weeks and you just have to deal with light restrictions.

Oh danib, how stressful! I think your H is home right now. When does he go offshore again?

He goes back April 30. He's pretty stressed to say the least. Ugh, is he able to make emergency trips home if you go into labor? They would put him on the next scheduled helicopter. But unless the timing worked out perfectly, the chances of actually making it in time if he's out there is pretty slim. We've always discussed the possibility of him missing it (same when I was pregnant with DS2). He's more so worried about if I go really early and we have to deal with a possible NICU stay. I'm choosing to believe I'm just gonna be one of those women who walk around dilated for weeks and this is all worry for nothing.

I dilated early with both boys, 2cm with both at least 6 weeks before they were born. I didn’t have a cervix check before that so I don’t know how long before. I was also 75% effaced. Both kids weren’t born until 40w and 5d so here is hoping the same for you (well maybe not the 5 days late part). Edit to tag danib

Lol Radley he's already a big boy so I definitely don't want the overdue part, 38 weeks would be perfect (both for size and DH being here).

danib I was 4 cm dilated for 3-4 weeks with my first and ended up being induced at 41w4d. Hopefully you hold old until your H is home!

PSA: target has the softest maternity shirts. I bought a couple last night and am so bummed that I didn’t discover this until now. Love.

Building a swing set at 7 months pregnant is not recommended. DH and I spent the entire day building it and I’m going to be so freaking sore in the morning.

Ugh. When DH is home he takes over most of the chores (especially things that require lifting or bending). And he NEVER changes the cat litter often enough. Every single time they end up peeing on stuff, and I ask him when he cleaned it last and it's always 2-3 days ago. AND he doesn't automatically do it then either. We have the same discussion - when did you clean it last? (Answer). I keep telling you that's not enough. Yeah I'll do it again today. - Umm why did you not do it immediately after cleaning up the floor? Are you waiting for them to pee on something else?? I really don't get it. Like he's extreme about things not being put away (ie toys left out) but the disgusting litter box can just sit for days??????

danib There are so many things that I shake my head at with my H. Like, he frequently travels for work and will leave his suitcase, not unpacked, for 2-3 weeks if I don’t nag him to empty it and put it away. That is something I’ve learned to ignore because it’s not worth it. But the litter box, yea, i’d keep harping on that.

So yeah, I'll be harping about it until after I can bend comfortably again. Then I'll just do it myself.

Oh my gosh the litter box. My husband and I have had the exact same conversation for the last 7 months. I’m so freaking over it.

Lol I am your husbands. I hate the litter box. Thankfully H took over that duty when we moved into our new house and he cleans it religiously every other day. Then he vacuums & sometimes even mops right where they are! But if the cats were peeing outside of it and my H just ignored it, I'd be really pissed. Sorry about that danib.

This is why I won’t get a cat, even though I like cats - no animals that go to the bathroom in the house My DH does plenty of other annoying stuff!
