I don't think a zoom Easter dinner is odd 🤷. We do a lot of happy hour zooms with my family and I'd think nothing of a holiday dinner one.

I have been on more FaceTime, Marco Polo, Zoom, rt while I’m home. I don’t know if we’d ever do a whole meal but it’s nice to catch up and see somebody!

I signed S up for Facebook kids and connected with the handful of friends I know their parents and most days he grabs the tablet and calls someone (or multiple someones) at lunchtime. It's like he's sitting in the cafeteria with them (sort of). I love that they've become proficient with it and just reach out to each other on their own. And I can keep tabs if I wanted to b/c it's all managed through my account. Yesterday he figured out how to make groups by himself (before that I did it), and made a group call after lunch because one friend was calling and he didn't want to hang up on the other.
They wound up in his room after lunch for over an hour talking and playing "together". When I looked at the log afterwards, it looks like he added in various friends.
But the best part of this story... B followed him. Which means, I got 1 WHOLE HOUR BY MYSELF YESTERDAY!!!

I think zoom family get togethers can be fun, but agree with wedding that over a meal is awkward.. just watching everyone eat. We’re planning something with my family, but it won’t be over dinner. Hoping to have some video drinks with our close friends tonight. They are our go to couple that we spend a ton of time with, and it’s been so hard not seeing them! Our babies will both have grown so much by the next time we actually get together.

I just can’t with the zoom get togethers... I can call people and talk for an hour, but just a normal call, no video. The kids talk to my grandma and sister a lot with the video, but as soon as they are done and I’m taking over the conversation I always say ‘let me call you back the normal way’. I just feel so weird and subconscious the whole time.

Cadence just finished saying how a squirrel in our yard is looking for spots to tell the Easter Bunny to hide eggs. She finished with, "wow, that was a lot of words for one kid". Yes dear, yes it was. It's like she never stops talking.

I just saw on fb that the Smithfield pork plant here is the #4 hotspot in the country. The company said they’d close down for 3 days to clean and figure out better working conditions. At least 190 employees have tested positive, and I’m sure there are more to come. So dumb.
My sister and I pretty much exclusively FaceTime. We spend 80% of the time not looking at the camera though so it functions like speakerphone mostly. I have no problem doing a family group chat on Easter but I’d rather it not be while we’re eating. I understand why they’d want to, since you can’t share the meal in person.

wedding I agree the FaceTime over A big meal is kinda weird. Maybe you can suggest over dessert? So not a whole meal, but you can talk and quickly eat cake/cookies/pie/whatever floats your boat? trtlcrzy Yikes! Your area numbers may double my next week.

They’ve been going up pretty rapidly this week. Beginning of the week I think we just hit 200 and now there are 535. My OB said the peak here is supposed to be mid June so we have a ways to go.

When I walked out to get the mail, there was a chalk message at the end of our driveway from M’s teacher and assistant. It read- M, we ❤️ you and miss you! Ms. M & Ms. T.
So sweet. M didn’t show any real emotion when I showed him, but I made him smile for the pic I took of him in front of it to text to his teacher. Lol.

It’s probably more the odd relationship we have with my in laws that makes this extra weird. We went from Christmas to mid March without talking to them at all. I even sent Cs karate trophy pics and got nothing. They can be very hot and cold and favor my BILs family. I don’t mind the group conversation. It’s more the doing it while eating together and timing our meals together.

I'm so damn annoyed. We waited for hours for the horse trailers to come through. The girls made a poster and got dressed up. We had a picnic. We waited outside because we didn't want to miss them. They were giving updates periodically about where they were and requesting people to check in because they went to some neighborhoods and no one was there. Then they suddenly quit updating after they were two stops away (we were at the end of the list). I posted saying we were waiting and 15 minutes later they respond claiming they went through our neighborhood already. That was a complete lie. We'd been sitting there for hours and if they went around the corner 3 houses away like they claimed we would have seen them. I get that it turned out to be much longer than they anticipated and were frustrated with no-shows, but FFS give an update, apologize and explain why you have to stop early instead of lie. She later changed her message when she realized she was caught and claimed she'd come by tomorrow. I haven't responded yet because I'm soured on it and pissed right now.

Honestly I'm livid. She just suddenly stops updating and quits with only 3 stops to go! Our neighborhood has a ton of kids and I put a notice about it on Nextdoor this morning and a lot of people were waiting for it. If something comes up, I get it, but fucking tell people so they're not waiting for you. And better yet, even if something ends up being more of an obligation than you were anticipating, when you've only got 3 stops to go, how about just finish. Certainly don't lie about it. And I think our stop was the only one of the last 3 where someone had confirmed kids are outside waiting. So in other words they could have got on FB and said we're cancelling the other two if you don't respond right away and finished with our stop. I realize this was something they didn't have to do at all, but if you offer to do something follow through.

I'm sorry inthekitty, that stinks. Sorry the girls were disappointed. tallb I meant to remark on this earlier, but I saw your comment about Cuomo's advice to "sit upright and be active" to help fight off the virus. When I was pregnant with B and having all my issues with back/nerve pain, my inclination was to be in bed all day. I remember one of my doctors telling me to get up and walk, even if I didn't feel like it. Her whole thing was, humans are biologically built to be upright and active--the longer you're 'down' and in bed, the worse it will be. I know it doesn't apply to everything situation but I thing there is something to be said for keeping moving when possible.

I would be livid, too. And soon after she started she mentioned there were several no-shows (this wouldn't even be possible in our neighborhood because on a nice day like today people are outside all over) so she wanted people to confirm they'd be there. I did and shared a picture of the girls with their poster. So early on she knew we were waiting. Meanwhile many other people didn't confirm they were there and she could have skipped them. Plus this was free advertising for their business and expensive horse camps.
