It’s probably more the odd relationship we have with my in laws that makes this extra weird. We went from Christmas to mid March without talking to them at all. I even sent Cs karate trophy pics and got nothing. They can be very hot and cold and favor my BILs family. I don’t mind the group conversation. It’s more the doing it while eating together and timing our meals together. Oh. In that case, no thank you to the dinner chat!

Cadence just finished saying how a squirrel in our yard is looking for spots to tell the Easter Bunny to hide eggs. She finished with, "wow, that was a lot of words for one kid". Yes dear, yes it was. It's like she never stops talking. Lol. This is B. But C is also a talker so if one pauses for breath the other one picks up. it is literally non-stop running commentary. 🤪🤪🤪 J is our talker. M asks him to be quite or "JUST STOP TALKING" multiple times a day.

I'm sorry inthekitty, that stinks. Sorry the girls were disappointed. tallb I meant to remark on this earlier, but I saw your comment about Cuomo's advice to "sit upright and be active" to help fight off the virus. When I was pregnant with B and having all my issues with back/nerve pain, my inclination was to be in bed all day. I remember one of my doctors telling me to get up and walk, even if I didn't feel like it. Her whole thing was, humans are biologically built to be upright and active--the longer you're 'down' and in bed, the worse it will be. I know it doesn't apply to everything situation but I thing there is something to be said for keeping moving when possible. It is interesting to think about since I feel like typically we are told to rest and relax, but I guess in some situations we have to help our body actually fight things to get better had not let it progress. I see why this can be extra dangerous for underlying conditions since it may prevent people from being able to fight the instinct to lay down.

My inlaws are still having Easter. I counted and with who I know is going, its 5 households, up to 8. Bil and his fiancee and we are skipping. I tried to talk to mil about it but apparently fil gave her no choice. I sent her this article. I'm hoping she cancels.. This is different from the one I posted about last week. Thats the WHOLE family. This one is just his grandparents and aunts, uncles, cousins. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2020/04/08/funeral-birthday-party-hugs-covid-19/?outputType=amp

I’m so sorry. inthekitty That blows and how rude of them. She should have followed through til the end or asked people to respond with neighborhood names so she knew where to go. I would be livid, too. And soon after she started she mentioned there were several no-shows (this wouldn't even be possible in our neighborhood because on a nice day like today people are outside all over) so she wanted people to confirm they'd be there. I did and shared a picture of the girls with their poster. So early on she knew we were waiting. Meanwhile many other people didn't confirm they were there and she could have skipped them. Plus this was free advertising for their business and expensive horse camps. That is crazy that she knew y’all were waiting and still didn’t bother to show up. That’s bad advertising if you ask me!

I see why this can be extra dangerous for underlying conditions since it may prevent people from being able to fight the instinct to lay down. I’ve been watching Cuomo, too and taking everything he is saying in. I’ve also developed a little man crush on him. Lol. MH’s aunt has it. She is mid sixties, and his mom didn’t tell us for a week! She had instructions not to tell Mh’s dad because FIL is a known “call everybody I can and tell them the news” person. But she could have filled us in. She ended up in the ER this weekend and I was telling MIL what Cuomo had been saying. If I had known earlier, maybe relaying that kind of info(re: keep moving/breathing exercises) could have kept her out of the hospital. She lives with another Aunt that is higher risk, so I know she probably holed up in her room doing nothing! She apparently got better for a few days, then felt worse and drove to the ER. She is better and out of the hospital now, but just hearing they admitted her had me worried.

Today one of the nurses asked me if we were having family over. My mom also called to say my dad called her to ask her if we were coming to visit for Easter weekend.

After dh got home from work I went to target all by myself to get stuff for the girls’ Easter baskets. The store really wasn’t too busy so it didn’t take me too long. Then I attempted to go to Aldi but I didn’t realize their hours had changed so now I get to go tomorrow afternoon when I get home from work instead because they were closed. I wore a cloth mask when I was out, per my OB’s advice, and felt so awkward. Plus my glasses kept fogging up which is super annoying. inthekitty so rude. I would be mad too.

Glad you sent that peachsmama, that article is a good wake up call. Easter is cancelled, do not pass go. Do creative things like hide eggs for other people in their yards or tape paper eggs to their door. It is one day. I may dropoff some ham for my mom on her porch since I know she's low on food, but wouldn't bring kids, and wouldn't go inside. lahdeedah I'm glad she's on the mend. Tbh when I started feeling like I may have it, I was almost embarrassed and terrified at the same time. There is so much fear around it that I can see why she didn't want people to know. I mentioned to my sister and aunts, but not my mom, bc she would ask me hourly if I was okay and I was trying not to spiral. Of course who knows if I did have it. I was also terrified of my University reporting it and sending an email to 20k people (obvs not including name). Also extreme guilt if I did potentially infect anyone. I saw Obama spoke out recommending that mayors lead with providing data and being truthful and looking out for the vulnerable in communities. I miss him😭. Also props to Dr. Fauci, our current MVP🙌 His clip the other night praising the gay community coming through AIDS was so well done, and acknowledging how hard COVID is hitting minority groups and that it is a systemic problem that shouldn't be this way😔.

I needed to see it in person for some reason. I took precautions a so I think it’s fine.

I think we're going to see spikes in 2 weeks after people inevitably ignore the guidelines and gather for Easter. We will not be those those people.
Cass was forlorn and asked about Easter. I told her we're still celebrating, but just with our family (we usually go to OR). I felt embarrassed because we always do the PAAS egg dye kits and I couldn't get one for pickup this year and didn't want to go into the store. I googled about dying with food coloring and it's the same thing as with the tablets. Lolz. So that's what we're doing tomorrow.
Kudos to the PAAS people all these years for successfully marketing a completely unnecessary product.

tallb I often wonder how different things would be here with better leadership. I’m sure it still wouldn’t be easy for them, but how many lives could have been saved with warnings and precautions early on. inthekitty I didn’t think about that, but you are most likely right. We’ll probably be seeing a spike in certain places in two weeks.

lahdeedah it makes me angry to think of how different this would likely be with Hillary and what we're stuck with instead. It also makes me miss Obama. Yes, it'd be a tough situation no matter what, but earlier action, not turning down test kits, etc could have things looking much different. Not to mention just being more comforted by a stable leader at the helm.

I remember as MH and I were watching as it hit WA (first death in JAN) and wondering when he was ever going to take action. We both uttered "finally " out loud when the news announced the travel ban from China as we anticipated it weeks earlier. But he was too busy claiming it was a hoax/not a big deal then. Anyone who bought the hoax thing has to be a total numbnut. Yes, the Democrats, the party that couldn't even get their candidate who got the most votes in office, started a virus in China that has been spreading around the world for months before reaching the US. All the own Trump. Sounds totally legit.

@klongoria, I was just going to keep my eggs hard-boiled and let the kids eat them as snacks, but I think I will make deviled eggs. Those sound deliscious right now.
