Remains to be seen whether Grassley puts his money at the location of his mouth Here's the problem with our government. The executive is too powerful. The checks and balances are insufficient and have basically held together on the general good faith of the President not to abuse their power. 45 has no compunction about taking every advantage he can exploit and has demonstrated the significant problems in our system of government. Quoting myself because it's late and I didn't make my point. Grassley can write all the letters he wants. Someone in the executive branch is going to draft a letter full of lovely words that says, essentially, "I did it because I wanted to and there's nothing you can do about it."

Poll workers were heroes today in WI. I voted from my car. I work again tomorrow after some time off and I’m allready exhausted and still furious about the election. Then John Prine dies. Today was f’ed up.

I'm feeling down right now. Like, they don't even pretend anymore. The shit it WI where they are endangering lives to keep people from voting and 45 firing anyone with oversight. And it won't fucking matter. Democracy is in bad shape.

Are you familiar with Microsoft Teams? No. But I am trainable I think. No worries. Teams is just a copy of Slack. But basically a Slack channel is like a board on HIH. Within the channel people who have access to the channel can communicate in threads within those channels. You can share documents, have meetings, etc.

Completely OT I need some to explain a slack channel to me like I’m 5 We just adopted Slack at work. It's a little complicated at first (not to say I'm am expert), but it's almost like a big message board. All the #channels are their own topic, and then you can PM a person directly. Once I began thinking of it like a message board, it felt more manageable. Slack itself sends way too many notifications which I think lends to the general sense of confusion at first. It's easier if you have naming protocols for your channels, as a company. So we have some for different blow-off topics (eg virtual watercooler, book recs, helping one another learn slack), one for each project, different workgroups who need to share info have one too, etc. They're all named with a consistent style so it's easier to locate what topical channel (board) you need. I haven't bothered to learn all the shortcuts (where you type a slash and it cues and action) because lol I don't need to be a slack master.

The one thing that seems the hardest for people to grasp (and which, frankly, doesn't make sense, which is probably why) is that you have to click "start a thread" to reply to a post. A post doesn't become a thread until someone replies to it by starting a thread. Then subsequent replies will be threaded.

I would do house four unless this turns to months. If quarantine house turns into end of times house, I'd take house two for the Castro/Swalwell options*. *unless our families are invited, of course. I'd be okay with either 2 or 5 also, but definitely avoiding 1 and 3 like woah. lol Same. Although I read 2 at first and I was like "hell yeah" and then I got to Marianne and was like

The situation in Wisconsin is beyond disheartening. I'm feeling really depressed about it. On top of the pandemic. I’m behind in this thread, but I listened to the Daily episode about this (from yesterday?) this morning, and ugh, it’s terrible. The part about the Republican legislature changing rules to hinder the incoming Democratic governor in ways the Republican governor was not hindered was infuriating. I mean, in addition to allllllllll the other things mentioned in the long post above.

I can see why the WI court continued to fuck this up and went above the governors head but it makes me even more enraged that the SCOTUS upheld the decision. The fact that these conservative justices are ignoring the preservation of the health of American citizens during a pandemic unlike anything we have seen in 100 years is just disgusting and scares me for what will come down the pipeline in future decisions.
