My county isn’t on there either. My county also said today that vaccine doses are coming in premarked by tier. This week they only received 1b vaccines which means people in 1a can’t receive their first dose. My DH hasn’t gotten his because of this nonsense and he’s on the front line with patients. My grandma in another county is 87 and can’t get a vaccine either for the same reason. I have no idea why we’re moving tiers so fast and cutting out the most vulnerable. It’s so inequitable right now.
I have no faith that teachers will get their shots before this school year is over. Some will but the majority won’t.

My best friend works in an ER and had her first dose tomorrow cancelled because they are apparently out of first doses for 1a.

DH was at Walgreens tonight and overheard the cashier tell the person in front of him that they were doing vaccines today for the first time and anyone in the store when the pharmacy closes could get a leftover vaccine if there were any (regardless of eligibility). So I grabbed my 85 year old grandma who is registered on multiple sites for the vaccine and has been unsuccessful and drove her 30 minutes to the store. They didn’t have any leftover but had 3 appointments for tomorrow afternoon so I scheduled her and my aunt’s 95 year old MIL. I feel such a relief. The weird thing is, Walgreens isn’t listed on the ODH site as a provider yet and there was no way to schedule or register on the Walgreens site. And the tech said she didn’t think all walgreens were doing it. The pharmacy tech made the appts for us. It really shouldn’t be this hard, especially for the elderly. skategirl128 maybe if you call some Walgreens in your area you’ll get lucky and get something for your grandma.

DH said the county health department will be handling the school vaccinations and is planning on doing the clinics on Saturdays. I’m assuming they’ll assign certain school districts for certain saturdays. Obviously it won’t be this week but hopefully the next one.

betty I didn’t know Walgreens had started vaccinations. I will be calling tomorrow to see if I can get her scheduled somewhere. I feel so bad that it’s so hard for our elderly to get a vaccine appointment.

My county isn't on their either and our school district is among the 25 largest in the state 🤦♀️
I noticed there are A LOT of private schools on the list (probably Catholic, lots of St whatevers) and I'm not sure what to think about them receiving it over public schools. Obviously in a perfect world all the teachers would get one tomorrow, but realistically it'll be a while.
Is it every school in the listed counties? Maybe if that's the case I'll feel different. I'm just really not sure how to feel.

Also, they correspond to the zip codes/areas with the highest spread. Lakota, Middletown, Talawanda, etc.

It doesn’t make sense why some districts aren’t on there.

A lot of Catholic schools have their students attending in person 5 days/week, so maybe that's why there are so many?
ETA I also think it just looks like a lot because most of them are listed individually, vs like, Columbus City Schools listed on one line.

Glancing I see local public schools on the list and probably 3 times more catholic schools. But the public school enrollment is probably 20x the Catholic school enrollment. Fact is there aren’t enough vaccines and it really really blows. I’m sure the health departments are doing their best to allocate resources. I am excited that the school where my aunt teaches and cousin goes is on the list.

They did a spot on the local news last night where the health department was saying they were asking for thousands a day and we are getting hundreds a day. We are what the 4th biggest county in Ohio. And my work wants us to come back to the office where we are working with students from all over who are not getting the vaccine any time soon. But hey Dewine said if you can work from home you should.

We opted for virtual learning, but over 70% of our district has been in person basically the whole year. There were 2 short hybrid/online stints but they were each only a couple weeks. A neighboring county is on the list and some of the schools haven't been in person much if at all. It just seems weird.

I'm taking my mom to get her first vaccine at Kroger Pharmacy this afternoon. We have to drive about 45 minutes but totally worth it. I was also able to get my MIL an appointment on Monday and thankfully that Kroger is about a mile away from her house.

So I thought his thing was that he wanted them to be hybrid at least to be eligible. Is it now they have to be fully in school? Because the distancing still won't work for the kids right?

I *think* some of the schools I recognize have been either hybrid or fully online. He wanted them to promise to go back in person, so maaaaybe the schools that were picked were either virtual or hybrid? But maybe they should also say how they picked.

I just don't know how this is possible if the kids still have to be distanced. Just because teachers are vaccinated doesn't mean parents are and kids can still catch it because they can't be vaccinated.

Our district is on the list and we have been hybrid all year. The board just voted this week to send K-4 back full time starting next week.
I don't understand how the counties were chosen for the first round. We're a pretty large county, but the others on there are not...

Well no wonder H’s vaccination week was moved. Neither our county or the county where he teaches is on that list. Both schools are hybrid (my kids’ school and the district where H teaches) This is disappointing. I just don’t see how they’re going to give at least one vaccination to all teachers/school staff by March 1.
In good news my grandma got her shot last week and my dad this morning.

Yeah that list of counties/districts is frustrating without any explanation as to why. My county is not listed so I can't even try to make sense of why one district was listed vs not. I was really hoping I could get my kids in person for the last quarter with teachers getting vaccines, but if we're not even listed I just don't see the timing working out. I know it will be fine and they're doing really well but man I'm having a week. It would have been nice to have some hope for a minute.

Just got an email from the school that the kids will have at-home learning on Feb 4th and 25th because the teachers are getting their vaccines those days. They did say over 90% of our district teachers intend to get it. But where are they getting all of the vaccines to be able to do this? I'm so confused about all the numbers that are being thrown out there.

My husband teaches at a school that has been 5 days in person since August. Full classrooms. It's incredibly frustrating to see schools getting prioritized that have been fully virtual this whole year. He got an email that their school received only 30 doses for next week. And no news on when more are coming.

Anyone who has an old that is desperate and willing to drive, last I saw Washington County Health Department said they had extras because people weren't coming out to get vaccinated. Just a thought.

so I read more. Our county has only been getting hundreds of doses at a time. This district got 97 shots and our health department doesn't know how either.
ETA: the school is saying they found a community partner to provide the vaccine. HOW?
