I am bored. I ordered some puzzles from Amazon that are in the garage until there isolation period is up this evening. So DH and me are going to do a puzzle after dinner. This is technically spring break for me so I’m just grading a little. I still have two more classes to integrate to online courses. I’ve been keeping DD busy with arts and crafts and painting, but the house is a disaster. Starting this week I have OB appointments every 2 weeks. I’m so glad the hospital is literally next door.

What is everyone doing about appointments? My OB office is restricting how many people can come to prenatal appointments and as of right now my husband is still working. I have asked my mom to watch the kids but I’m nervous about that because I know she and my sisters have not been socially distancing.

Radley is it just a normal check up or are you high risk or need something specific? My OB is spacing out normal check ups more than normal. I would probably reschedule unless there’s a real reason you need to go. Eta - I see where you said you have your second GD test next week. I would call and see if you can just have your regular check up when you go out anyway for that?

I’m high risk and will be starting weekly NST soon and I have to have many ultrasounds, but it’s also the 28 week check up testing for gestational diabetes, doing blood work and getting the Tdap shot. I won’t be able to miss/reschedule any appointments.

I have an appointment this week and DH was planning on going since I'm having an US, but I'm going to call in advance to make sure he's still allowed to come.

I have asked my mom to watch the kids but I’m nervous about that because I know she and my sisters have not been socially distancing. I have bi-weekly appointments and bi-weekly ultrasounds plus some additional bloodwork. So quite a few, and they are all time sensitive and considered essential as I am high-risk. DH is offshore so my parents are my only option for childcare. They are socially distancing as much as possible, as in not going to any restaurants or seeing friends, but my mom is an essential worker so there's always a risk (even though they take serious precautions). We're just doing the best we can, taking as many precautions as we can when we have to be in public, and handwashing/cleaning like crazy. My hospital (where my OB is) is not allowing anyone to accompany you to appointments, with the exception of things like patients with impairments who NEED to be accompanied, and no visitors (exception being an end of life situation, and one parent allowed to be with a child patient).

My next appt isn’t until 4/8 and I’m hoping (probably in vain) that restrictions will lift a little bit by then. If not then I’ll ask either a friend or my MIL to watch the kids while I’m at my appt.

Radley I am up to weekly visits now. My doctors office has cancelled all non essential visits. They are doing them over the phone and then determining if it’s necessary to see them. OB appts are considered essential so I went in. I was there today and it was so quiet compared to normal. I only saw 2 other patients. And this is a big family practice. Every staff had gowns, gloves, and masks on. And one staff member was just walking around cleaning stuff up in between her other responsibilities. If your office is anything like mine, I would prefer to keep my kids with me in a more frequently sterilized environment instead of having them around people who are not self isolating. But you would need to check with your office if it’s allowed and what their cleaning protocol and visits look like.

I thought this was helpful information to share with you guys. MDJ is a board certified OBGYN and her content is very helpful to me.

But you would need to check with your office if it’s allowed and what their cleaning protocol and visits look like. Yeah my family is being pretty lax about it all. I’m getting side eyed for not going out or hanging out with people. But two of my siblings are young, one’s husband can work from home. My husband’s job has said if you have anyone one at home sick period, he can’t come to work and we just can’t risk him losing any hours in the face of his job potentially shutting down anytime. On top of just not wanting to be sick/catch this. I know they are all out visiting each other, visiting other family members, it’s frustrating. My OB’s office is part of a bigger medical group which has stated that only one support person is allowed to come to any appointments and no more, so I’m just going to have to deal and hope for the best.

Thanks trtlcrzy, that video supports everything my research has shown - including that pregnant women don’t seem to be at any more risk from this virus than the general population, and may even be at less risk. Also supports our plan of delivering in a hospital but getting out of there as soon as we can afterward.
