I was raised Catholic, but no longer consider myself Catholic. I am more Agnostic, with some Catholic/Buddhism sprinkled in. I find all religions fascinating, though, so I may lurk all over the place.

MH and I consider ourselves Shinto. It's been difficult to practice consistently as we converted and the closest shrine is on the other side of the country. We do our best though.

Latin Rite Catholic that worships in English or Polish. Prefers solemn ordinary form Masses, but not opposed to the Traditional Latin Mass. I work in ministry/ecclesial management and am getting my doctorate in Canon Law. rvasc come hang out with us! I don't know what most of this means but I love it! I'm very interested in the Catholic version of the bible. After I finish reading mine, I was thinking of reading that one because I believe you guys have a few extra books in the bible.

Hello! I was baptized and raised Roman Catholic (Irish Catholic family). I was confirmed catholic, receiving RCIA during college, but left the church after college. I recently (within the last two-ish years) started attending a United Methodist Church and became a member, having both of my children baptized Methodist. Overall, I would consider myself non-denominational Christian more than anything else, but definitely protestant.
I am hoping the UMC splits and that my particular church goes with the more liberal leaning plans.

For a long time I identified as atheist but I'm realizing that's not quite true. I believe in something bigger, but more along the lines of nature and connectivity. Really interested to have these discussions. Ditto

MH is Baptist. We are raising our children Catholic. My DD is about to complete RCIA in April. I didn't get her baptized as I had her right after Hurricane Katrina and it was a very just like a bomb went off time in our area and I was working disaster work for a long time. She went to Catholic school in La. It always bothered her that she was not baptized and now she is on her way.

She is so excited. Thank you.
I am really liking that her journey is going the way it is. For years I felt a way about not getting it done. I think it's happening now the way it was meant to be. She is an adult in the eyes of the church so it's all her. I am on the outside looking in so to speak. I am also amazed at how different the approach to teachings are now with more a discussion type vibe whereas when I was little it was like school.
I can't believe she's almost there. She completed her Rite of Election.

Maybe swellist or another will start the Catholic, Ls2012 can start the Pagan one etc. We can have as many as we need and this thread can be are communal thread where we all come together and share.* *All of this is just suggestions and I'm excited for however we decide to take this board

Hi! I'm Catholic.
Raised in the Ukrainian Catholic Church and now attend a Catholic Church in my community. MH was not baptized and has no intention of individually formally being part of the Catholic church, we are raising the kids Catholic with both of them baptized and my DS is currently attending a Catholic school which is K-9 with DD following in a couple years.
Thanks for setting this up, I am looking forward to some good discussions and learning opportunities.

All of you that attended or have kids that attend a faith based private school, are you happy with that experience? We are strongly considering sending dd to one when she starts school. We have just about 99% decided on a local Christian school, though we still have a year to decide. It's number two in the whole distract including public schools and I really love that they have a uniform. The reviews are great and the only difference is that they have a mandatory bible class, which I love.
What can I expect, pros and cons? I'd love to hear anecdotes.

I admit I didn't send mine there because it was faith based. Where we lived at before (BR) the schools sucked hard. To get a quality education you would have to go private. I toured schools I was interested in. The Catholics run a tight ship on their schools in the way of education etc.
The pros for us was that the parents are paying so they are involved. The school wasn't suffering for supplies like others were. They were known as one of the best schools in the district among all of them on academics. The school was old so knew what to do to be ran well, if that makes sense.
Yes uniforms but in Louisiana all schools have them so it wasn't a thing anyway.
The only con was that we had to pay.
One of the MAIN reasons we moved was to be in an area with good schools. Now, we're in a great school district. I would not choose private over the local public schools. I don't see the need. I can handle any faith formation needed.

Hello! I’m Methodist. H and I were raised in the same church growing up, left it at the same time (as teens) for a whole host of reasons, and recently returned to it. We found a lovely liberal leaning UMC church. I haven’t been baptized but DS2 and I are both about to be.
