I’m taking care of a lot of stuff around the house today, and then tonight I have a meeting at school because they are thinking of doing some pretty hefty renovations. The town seems very split about the choices, so I think the meeting will be a bit of an s*#!show.

guster there was a battle royale here when the decision was made to tear down our neighborhood elementary school to re-build (which meant putting the kids on another campus for 2 years during the construction). People are still griping and the new school is almost done 🤦🏻♀️ School-related issues definitely seem to be a hot button!

Morning! It’s grey and raining here today; We are allowed about 1 sunny day/week this time of year, it seems. Today is my volunteer day and I might try to run to Loft for a couple things after I pick C up. Our tax return came thru this a.m. so I feel rich, but fun-sucker DH wants to save it for house stuff, laaaame.

I did a lot of planting over the last couple of days. My yard is barren no more. I'm so excited for the plants to start growing assuming they don't die. We got 2 trees as well. Cass was a huge helper and took her gardening seriously.
On SAT Cass told me it was the best day of her life aside from her birthday. We had a lowkey day together but it was amazing to her. SUN Maddie said it was a great day. I love how just simple things can be special for kids.

tgrimes, we belt out Into the Unknown pretty regularly at my house. I'm waiting for it to come out on Disney+. I'm sure M will be thrilled.

That’s so sweet, inthekitty. It’s super fun to feel like they can just hang out as your buddy as they get older. I’m loving alone time with Dude for that reason right now.

Hi. Just a day of work here. Nothing exciting.
I grabbed M2’s daily sheet from yesterday this morning and it had a note that he wasn’t himself all day. He seemed fine when I picked him up. I’m wondering if he just misses his teacher and has t taken to the new one yet. I’ll try to pick him up early so I can inquire about it. If he has another day like yesterday, I might ask to move him to a different teacher that we wanted, but she was full when we asked. She told us last week she had an opening, but I wasn’t sure about how to go about moving him so soon after he started in that class. I didn’t want the new teacher to think it was her.

lahdeedah, no shame in just being honest and saying you were on the waitlist for the other classroom or something to that effect. I'd place him wherever you think he will be happiest. Re: our yard. We have a tiny yard (about 50' x 20'). There wasn't much to it but last year we did demo. What was there was ugly; however, that left it barren. I'm so excited for some color and growth. Only big plant left to put in is a hydrangea. I love them and must have one. I know it may not be aesthetically pleasing, but I'm also going to plant some strawberries later in the year and let them work there way across the entire shrub area because I love garden fresh berries and they grow like weeds. We've had a ton of oppressive rain lately, but finally had some sun. It's been so nice. However, our first bit of planting was between cloud bursts. Cass had her head-to-toe rainsuit on and was ready for it.

Update on vacation drama:
Remember the whole thing about my mom ditching our Disney trip to go with my brother the following week? Well it turns out he's not going. When she told him she'd help cover costs but couldn't pay his whole way he said he couldn't afford it (so apparently he was planning on having my mom pay for his entire trip?). So then she wasn't going to go. She had FOMO about missing our trip with the girls and changed her mind about not being able to change her vacation dates so she'll be joining us. I'm still eye-rolly about it because of how she was okay ditching us, but at the end of the day I'm not going to be petty because it will be nice to spend time with her and the girls will love having her there. She won't arrive until the night of the first day so we'll still have a solo beach day as a family.

I'd have probably gone to Loft anyway, but I do want to get more Botox. We've really been conscientious about spending/saving the last few months knowing this mega-purchase was on the horizon, so I've abstained, but I think I'll call and book an appt today

Sounds like a nice weekend inthekitty. I love hydrangea--good choice. My parents have gorgeous ones in their backyard and my dad adjusts the soil to get that pretty blue color. We tried to have some here in our backyard and they did not do well, we just don't have much shade back there. Maybe the next house.

This one will be in the backyard so it will be at my mercy.

I’m exhausted. I was home in the morning with ds, which was nice and quiet. I did laundry, cooked and talked a lot. He’s just one of my favourite people in the whole world . Work in the afternoon and I just spend more than an hour combing the kids again, no lice, just nits (yesterday to do weird). I took a half day, but apparently still look haggard, because no less than three coworkers asked me if I was okay. One coworker told me to be careful to hit the brakes on time...

Tim is getting snipped today. It was supposed to be Thursday, but they moved up the appointment. Never though I would ever be interested in a vasectomy live blog.

I had the dryer vent cleaned last month, and when the guy left, he forgot to reattach the dryer hose. So lint has been flying around everywhere.
I have another company out to fix things now, and the tech said when they built the house, they did it wrong. The external dryer tube attaches to another dryer tube behind the wall. He said that will eventually cause problems and at some point someone will need to tear out the wall to replace that component.
Conversation with Pete:
Me: FYI the dryer vent guy says the initial tubing was not done correctly and it will need to be redone eventually. Pete: But it works. Me: For now, yes, although he wants us to be aware there could be problems at some point. Pete: Well, it’s worked for decades.
Okay? That’s like having a roof with loose shingles and saying “but it’s always been fine before.” WTF, man. Shit gets old and wears out, especially if the initial construction was half-assed.

Work has been crazy. I think I'm caught up, although I'm sure I should be doing something besides this.
You all remember our awkward lunch last week with the coworker we aren't fond of...well, today, my boss and I went to lunch. We did not ask said co-worker, we just left. My boss and I were in the hallway discussing something actually work related and she walked up and waited for us to finish. I walked away because we were right outside of my office. I heard her ask if we didn't like her anymore and that's why we weren't inviting her to go. I just kept working, like this is awkward AF, and my boss tried to be like, we left quick, I was pissed about something and just wanted to get out, etc. She just kept pushing. She asked me something and my face turned red (I'm a terrible liar). We finally moved onto something else, but it was so awkward.
She then cornered the HR girl who usually goes with us, but didn't today, and asked her why we weren't inviting her anymore. She just said she was too busy to go to lunch.
This woman is in her 50s and cornering people about it.
My boss said we will have to wait to leave for lunch until she leaves already.
