Morning. If I can get my butt in gear, I want to run some errands today. I need to go to the bank, target, and Michaels for some bridal shower gifts/supplies for my friends shower on the 16th. It sounds exhausting but I've been putting it off and I need to just bite the bullet and go.

I'm back at work today, boo. I had a great 5 days off though! Well, minus the 4th of July. We can't go anywhere because we have to drug our dog because he's so scared of of the fireworks, and as it turns out, apparently DS1 is also terrified of them. Poor guy didn't fall asleep until after 10pm and MH had to lay in bed with him. He kept saying "no thank you fireworks", poor kid.

My shin splints are back. Sigh. So no running for a bit. I'll have to swim instead which is ok, but I have to drive to the rec center instead of just walking out my door. I'm not sure what the problem is.
Today we have the A/C people coming out for a check. Our home warranty covers an A/C check in the summer and a heat check in winter. Then we are going to pick up the loveseat we got yesterday. I'm so excited to finally have a place to sit in the playroom. I also got some really cute throw pillows. Otherwise, just working on getting the house in order. My next project is the desk area. Ugh. It's such a mess. But it has to be done.
We are on day #7 of potty training. She's doing well, still, but I can tell this process is going to keep going for a while. She gets it. It's just that it's a process to create a habit.

tgrimes, I have taught swim lessons! Currently, I do not because Liam is having separation anxiety. But I'm hoping after September to go back to swimming and/or coaching swimming!

That is cute/sad about ds1 and fireworks jubilantsquirrel! Oh no aggiebug! I hope any damage is minimal! Yay for mr Cheshie6 coming home! I am just watching a huge tree be cut down in my neighbor's yard, branch by branch. It's fascinating really. I mean, relatively anyway. Otherwise, nothing really planned today. About to go spend a few minutes at the park in the swing. We tried the sand pit the other day and all she did was eat sand. So maybe not quite ready for that fun yet.

M is wanting to take swim lessons but I can't find anywhere that has an opening. What can I teach her on my own for right now? She'll be 4 in November and we use the puddle jumper. She's good at kicking her legs and she just recently started putting her face in the water.

Aww jubilantsquirrel. That's cute but really sad that he wasn't liking the fireworks. Yay Cheshie6! How exciting! aggiebug Crap that sucks. Is the rain slowing down at all? classymrsa I'm envious that you're house sounds like it's coming together. Mine is a disaster and I never seem to have time to do what I want.

I just bought a kiddie pool for C off Amazon. I can't wait to put him in it! He loves playing in the tub and loved playing with the water table at my friends house.
I have a bunch of stupid meetings this afternoon so that should be exciting. Tomorrow I'm leaving a little early to meet up with my friend for the art fair. Last year I couldn't buy anything cute because I didn't have a name picked up for C. This time I'm planning to buy a bunch of shit!

goldenlove yes thankfully it has slowed. We have a claim into our insurance. Hopefully it's minor, I think it's happened before but we just today saw it happening.

Yay Cheshie6, glad your H will be home today! Morning friends. We are headed to visit the ILs. I think my H is only slightly more jazzed about this trip than I am, but we gotta do what we gotta do, I guess. Thankfully C is passed out, but B has already asked numerous times if we are 'there yet', and we just crossed into GA. Sorry, kid, we got a while.

tgrimes, at her age it's all about comfort and the basics. Blowing bubbles out her nose is a good way to start. Then I would hold her so she can kick and move her arms in a front crawl. Also work on back floating by starting with her head on your shoulder, making sure her ears get wet! I hope that helps!

flamingo You were saying the other day that C was waking up almost every hour for a few nights, what did you do when she woke up? Did you go in? Nurse? Bottle? Pat bum? J is back to waking 3 times a night and I'm not ok with it, I'm scared to go in because nothing soothes her except nursing and that seems counter productive to my end goal. So last night because I didn't have a plan when I went in, I just didn't. I let her cry, about 8-10 min and then she was back down. But it happened a lot. HELP!?

I'm waiting for the fall schedules to come out for lessons but this is great advice until we get B into a class.

vino I get nervous also if my J starts waking MOTN especially because he's sleep trained and been STTN for months and I don't want to go backwards. A few weeks ago he pulled some shenanigans where he was waking 2-3 MOTN (midnight, 3, 5:30). I chalked it up to a growth spurt because it only happened for maybe a week? And I believe it coincided with a leap. Do you think you have any of that going on? I nursed him at the midnight and 5:30 waking. And he's been back to STTN ever since that week. Of course now I probably just jinxed it. ETA I did give him some time to figure it out but he never settled.

Thanks tgrimes waitwhatShe's been creeping up to 3 times a night for about 2 weeks now, and last night was the first time I let her cry, only because I noticed for about 3 previous nights she was just comfort nursing at her first wake up at about 10-11ish. She is in a leap and pulling up on all the things, her mattress is dropped to the lowest already so she is safe. I really hope this is a short phase, I'm ok with one MOTN wake up to nurse about 2am, but at her age it shouldn't be any more, for food anyways. I guess I'll just take it one day at a time, and wait it out.

vino Remind me, does she have any teeth? AV was a bear a few weeks ago when two teeth came through simultaneous to her pulling up on everything. It's since been better. No help bc they're my first, I'm sorry. classymrsa I used to get the worst shin splints!!!! All my sympathies, but yay for at least being able to get in the water. goldenlove AV and AB love their little kiddie pool! Bonus, I just realized that even on days that are not ideal (cool, overcast) for swimming, I can put them in it to contain them while we sit outside for a bit.
