I really like Shakira's music, she and JLO both look amazing and I was glad to hear some of their older stuff. I enjoyed the end where they sang together. However, much of the performance last night, I would not have let my kids watch. I loved the Latin influence, but would have liked to see more actual dance--salsa, etc.-- not just people gyrating all over the floor. It felt gratuitous to me. :shruggy guy:

Also, this may actually surprise you all, I was really hoping we'd get a surprise appearance by Pitbull b/c I love him.

Yeah, I can remember as a kid seeing Gloria Estefan, Ricky Martin and Carlos Santana performing at the Miami-hosted Super Bowls. It's fun and unique to that locale. 

I really want to download some Gloria Estefan right now, lol.

Just got caught up. The weekend was amazing. Dude and Tim really bonded and it was adorable. Dude told him he wants him to move here to be with us all the time.

I’m furious with Pete. Poppy showed up last night with goopy eyes. I asked if she just finished crying or might be getting sick? He shrugged and said, “probably sick, she’s been like that since at least Friday. She will probably need to go to the doctor sometime this week.”

Um, thanks, jerk face. Is there some reason you didn’t take her to urgent care Sunday morning? Now she’s home from school today and at least tomorrow, and I have to put her in the car for 90 minutes each way in rush hour traffic to take her. Which, understandably, she will not love since she isn’t feeling great. She could already be feeling better and if he’d just taken care of it then the whole family didn’t have to be inconvenienced.

Do I have to make my attorney write up something about taking the kids to the doctor in the divorce agreement?! WTF.

The pt gave me a massage on my right glute and down the back of my right leg to my knee. It was interesting but felt good. I just watched the halftime show (because I didn’t watch any of it last night) and I didn’t have a problem with anything they were wearing or how they were dancing. I think people are blowing it out of proportion.

I got the results back from all of B's testing.

His immunology levels were all great. He thinks this run of sickness is relating to underdevelopment and as his facial structure changes etc he will get sick less. In the mean time I am continuing to give him allergy medicine 2 x a day b/c it seems to help for some reason. And we're on inhalers till end of winter. Fingers crossed that keeps the sicknesses at bay.

But... he tested his blood levels for peanut and they came back super low. And I guess he said there are multiple indicators and B only had 1 of them come back at all elevated. So he thinks he's outgrowing his peanut allergy! He wants me to come into the office and do the challenge.

I am so excited!!!

I only watched some clips of the halftime show. I don’t think it was inappropriate but it would have been inappropriate 30 years ago so I can see why the olds are perturbed. I am sure some of the moms I know my age would be upset by it as well. My next door neighbor was very upset that her daughter and her friends were singing “Good as Hell” by Lizzo because of hell. I am on the complete far other end and C listens to my music, which is all hip hop and rap. He knows what words not to repeat and I never listen to it with other kids in the car. I’m sure other moms would disagree with us allowing this but we take an approach of not censoring.

I think people just fall in different places on the spectrum of what they are comfortable exposing their children too. Unfortunately for them, in modern times the ones concerned about the halftime show are likely a minority so now it’s up to that minority to manage what they see. I get the complaint because it becomes harder and harder. Maybe at some point though it’s not worth the fight.

Yes, his right ear is infected. I left him in the couch for 10 min while I dismantled the crib and when I came back there was a puddle of fluid on the couch from his ear. So gross.

Different strokes, for sure. And as someone who errs on the conservative end of the spectrum, yes, the onus is on me to manage it, bc I do think it’s a worthwhile ‘fight’. Obviously I can’t control everything they may hear on the bus or on the playground, but I have no problem turning stuff off or just not allowing it in our home🤷🏻‍♀️ IMO there is plenty of time for more adult content.

ETA: my kids didn’t watch the game so it’s a moot point. But had they been up, I would’ve sent them out of the room to put on pjs, or turned it off. I just found it overly sexualized in parts.

Definitely understand censoring content for the kids. Even though the music Dude likes sounds aggressive, it doesn’t have any curse words. I still tell him that when friends are over, he needs to pick KidzBop or something instead because not all parents are okay with what we listen to.

But people who take to FB to clutch their pearls or complain about that stuff in the office, I just don’t get it.

I missed half time bc of k, but want to watch it. We were flipping between the game and the puppy bowl and j was thrilled with the Subaru ads.

I went with k for her first morning at daycare and it does not get easier, if anything it seemed harder? She's older and more aware of people and knew that she didn't know the teachers. And there were lots of crying babies. Didn't help that they put her in the buggy and the baby next to her was clearly recovering from HfM😷. I shall wear my sunglasses tomorrow since I'll prob cry. I tend to always judge new teachers and then end up loving them, so hoping this ends up being the same.

Now I'm home with both girls getting zero work done.

Great news jewels, glad you guys had a good appt!

I took the kids Valentine-shopping at Target, B picked out Star Wars with glow-stick 'light sabers', and Disney princesses for C. B's 2nd quarter report card came home today and he did great, and had sweet, very personalized comments from both his teacher and the assistant principal. I'm really proud of him and I love this little school--they have definitely set the bar high for next year.

Have I mentioned that M has been having g a hard time at after care lately?

Well when I picked him up one day last week, he told me he cried and the lady at the front desk said that M told her he was sad because I was out of town for a long time. I was like- what, no! I think he just wanted an excuse to stay in the front office.

Well today, I picked him up and one of the other ladies that manage it and sit at the front walked us outside and told me that he cried again - more than the other times- and that it was because his mom and dad was splitting up. 😳 I couldn’t help but bust out laughing even though it’s not funny. I told her no way and I really don’t know where he gets these stories from. I know he is just trying to make excuses to go to the front office, but come on kid! When I asked him why he said that he just smiled and wouldn’t look me in the eye. I was a little embarrassed, but it cracked me up so much for some reason.

He’s been watching Jessie on Disney plus, so maybe he got that story from there? It’s so far out of left field. It’s not like we even argue at home for him to even have that thought. Kids man.
