Can't believe our babies are nearing the year mark! Anyone planning their parties yet?
We are doing a luck of the irish theme just before St Patty's. I just ordered invites!
I think I'm going to get the boys shirts that say "Lucky One" with a shamrock as the "O". I saw them on etsy, I think?
We're renting out a park district building because lolno to everyone in our house. We usually do a pretty big bash for first birthdays.
I found a caterer that can do mini reubens or corned beef sliders. I need to call them, because they can do custom stuff so I want to ask about irish beef stew. Guinness of course!
I'm sure we'll have a lot of kids attending, so we'll do a table with St patricks printed coloring sheets and maybe a make your own necklace stringing fruit loops (like a rainbow). Trying to think of other ideas too.
Anyone else planning a big bash? I need to celebrate making it to the year mark, so this is sort of more for me and my H! 🤣

I can't believe we're thinking about first birthday parties already!!
His birthday is on Easter, so we're thinking of pushing the party to the next weekend. That's all I know, but this does remind me that I need to start looking for a first birthday outfit!

We didn’t do a first birthday for my older daughter, but we’ll probably do something low key for N, only for the older kids sake really. She LOVES birthdays.
We will probably just do a rainbow theme because our house is like the rainbow fan club headquarters.

Trying to come up with something clever and/or cute over here. The boys turn one on pi day. However, its also the day after the first anniversary of my uncle's death. My grandpa is renting out rooms at the place our family regularly spent a winter weekend annually growing up. So we're not having a separate party per se, but I am bringing smash cakes and desserts so we can sing happy birthday on their birthday since all the extended family will be there.
I'm more so trying to plan the smash cakes and photo shoot. DD's first birthday theme was rainbows. Photographer closed her studio, so it will be at our place, but still professional pictures. A few pictures will be family ones, but the rest can be themed. Originally I was thinking Harry Potter and Ron Weasley, but DS1s hair lightened up a ton so it's not really dark brown anymore. While pregnant I thought I would do a Thing 1 and Thing 2, which is fairly easy and still on the table.

I can’t believe a year is coming up so quickly!! We’ll have a small party at our house, trying to decide on a theme but having a hard time.

grover, the Harry & Ron idea is adorable! Maybe you could do the Weasley twins instead? Either way, it sounds cute.

I seriously can’t believe our babies are almost 1 year olds! I’m just going to sit in the corner and cry. Time has gone by so fast.
I was thinking of doing a Winter One-derland theme, but I’m not sure of how to decorate for that without going to Frozen.
I’m also undecided about what size party to throw. We have very few friends outside of our offices, so it’s either just H and I or like 30 people. We’ll probably end up having a big party for her.
I’ve also thought about doing a farmer’s market theme, but I’m also having trouble thinking of decorations for this. I’m not crafty or Pinterest-y, so that’s where a lot of my problems lie.

I’m doing a “wild one” theme with where the wild things are. I’m just going to switch it to queen instead of king. I’ve found a lot of cute ideas on Pinterest and Etsy.
We are renting a room at our community center because we also go pretty big for the first birthday party. I still need to decide on food. There’s a bbq restaurant that I’m debating on ordering from.

orangehibiscus look on Etsy for ideas for decorations too. For ds2 I did a winter onederland theme. He’s a December baby. For centerpieces I did epsom salt in mason jars and then I made penguins and number ones and put this those on sticks to come out of the jars. It was cute! I definitely went more in that direction with the animals rather than frozen. Also for his smash cake I had a snowman head made for it!

I’ve obviously never thrown a kids birthday party before as I’m a FTM. Do I need to have games or something for the older kids to do? The weather will be iffy as far as if it is warm enough to play outside. Thanks!

The weather will be iffy as far as if it is warm enough to play outside. Thanks! Depending on the ages and how many kids, it might be nice. We are setting up a table with St. Patricks Day coloring sheets and a fresh huge box of crayons. We also got fruit loops so kids could make rainbow bracelets stringing them on yarn or whatever. I hope they don't just share a bunch of germs though... We also are getting a guy to come do balloon animals, but I admit I am being a little over the top with this first birthday! 🤣
