mamabear we took C w/o ear protection. Don't stress yourself out. The only time I've ever seen kids and babies with ear protection is at air shows, because it gets SO loud and it's all day long. @melaniesue05 I'm so sorry for the loss of your friend. T&ps to her family and yours.

Morning! My house is a disaster and we were hardly home yesterday. I was planning to just have a lazy morning and not do much....until MIL showed up. I had forgotten she was coming to get H to take her to a play. So I rushed to get her ready and sent them on their way. I'm relaxing with S for a bit and then we will head to target in a bit. It's supposed to get to 91 today so we will go to the pool after naps. It's so hot, I'm melting!

A girl I went to school with posted a video on her fb of her 2 year old holding a roman candle while it was going off. For those of you who don't know what a roman candle is, it's basically a stick that fireballs shoot out of. Adults aren't even supposed to hold them. You are supposed to stick them in the ground (says so on the directions). They have been know to explode out the back end and burn the person holding them. Parenting at it's finest.

I read somewhere that sparklers are the cause of most ER visits for children under 5 on the 4th of July. Hell, even I'm afraid of fireworks.

Probably because most parents believe they are the "safest". Sticks that fire flings off of are not safe for anyone! I let Cadence sit out there while mh did sparklers last night and these little things that look like little dynamites. He burnt a hole in her shoe. Luckily, her foot wasn't in it at the time. Fireworks should be left to professionals while people view them from afar,

My lower back is killing me today. V insisted on being carried around yesterday. 40lbs is getting too big for me to haul. Do I need to tell him I can't carry him anymore or is he going to decide on his own soon? I'm not sure how typical it is for his age. S only likes to be carried if he's having a hard time. He is NOT 40 lbs (maybe 35?) but it's still a lot for me. I tell him right off the bat that I can only carry him for a minute or to X spot (like if we are out for a walk, I'll tell him I'll carry him to the next driveway). If he fusses about it, I tell him no carrying at all. Usually it works. He is a pretty logical kid, though, so I really explained to him that he's just too heavy for me to carry that much and that it hurts me and usually he'll deal.

Morning! We had such a great long weekend and I'm sad it's over. We hosted different groups of friends/family all day Saturday, Sunday and Monday so it was pretty exhausting always trying to keep my house clean and cooking food constantly but it was super fun. Yesterday we went out to the lake at my parents and N swam with DH and we just relaxed. We left just before it started sprinkling and all got to bed at a decent time.
I'm working today, off tomorrow, half day on Friday and off on Monday. I could get used to this schedule!

I should add, re: fireworks, that last year I did let Cadence hold sparklers and one of the sparks hit her and she freaked out and so did I. We watched them from behind the sliding glass door after that. My child doesn't need to hold fire sticks.

It seems like no matter how many people I unfollow on fb, I keep getting damn videos on my newsfeed of up close and personal of people smacking their lips together. I don't care if your lipstick smears or stays on for a week. Stop shooting these videos!

Maybe this is more of a FFFC? My facebook feed is basically pictures of N13 kids, a few prized family and friends, and mostly cooking and home improvement posts and videos from pages I like. It's the best.

It's like decluttering mental baggage that's weighing me down. Facebook has the uncanny ability to cause you to dislike people you know IRL. Facebook distance makes the heart grow fonder.

Well, we got 10min from home when C needed to pee so he and MH ran into Meijer to go and get milk. I got a frantic call that C was LOST! L and I ran in and they made an announcement and had everyone looking for him and blocking exits. We found him about 5min later. So terrifying.

We had a great little 4th of July.
I let Layla do some sparklers as long as she kept them at arms length, and she "helped" Tim light a few fountains in the driveway. She also did those snap things that you throw on the ground. My sisters and I used to shoot bottle rockets at each other as kids. Between those and black cats, I'm surprised we didn't ever get hurt. We were assholes.

Not like I actually speak to any of these people, now or when we were in school. l Facebook has the uncanny ability to cause you to dislike people you know IRL. Facebook distance makes the heart grow fonder. Truth. I'm thinking of one good friend in particular. But if I didn't follow her, I wouldn't see her gazillion posts and 'like' them, and I think she would notice and be hurt. Maybe I could unfollow on FB but keep her on IG.
