lahdeedah That’s so sweet of your Dad. Make sure to enjoy some of the money, even if that means putting it in savings for you to stare at and then be able to get something you really love one day. I have a farm property that I own with my brother and Mom, we rent the pasture to a local farmer for his cattle to graze on and I get rental cash a couple times a year, I love having some cash thats all mine. I use it for botox, laser hair removal and bomb ass supermodel coats 😉 I have my first laser appt next week! Eek! I may tuck a few hundred away and stare at it until I’m sure I can use it on me without feeling any guilt. 😊

We got home and I changed and ran to the gym before they close. No time like the present! I have to grocery shop after this. Work in the AM, but I will likely still be up til midnight.

mamabear have fun tonight!! lahdeedah , ooh laser appts, keep us posted! I think our Disney trip is mostly hammered out. We are just doing a couple days, nothing crazy, but I feel better knowing a pro is on top of things. We told the kids and they are, of course, super excited. We're doing a pizza for them tonight and then H is making us dinner once they're in bed. In unrelated news, my car has been making this creaking noise for months. We've had 2 different mechanics take a look and no one could find anything wrong. It was due for maintenance so we decided to bite the bullet and take it to the Volvo dealer. Lo and behold, they think they found the problem! I'm kind of kicking myself for not taking it there originally, but oh well. We'll get it back Thursday a.m. and I'm praying the noise will be no more, it was driving me nuts.

Lol cagoldi! 😆😆😆 Drape yoga was fun. It would be a great way to have a fart attack though. After a while of being upside I felt like I could have blasted one and I purposefully didn't eat anything before I went. So I made it through the year without loud farts in class. Praise be.

My Mom called - they called with the scan results. I swear this group is the worst, first calling on Christmas Eve and now on NYE. They drop bad news but can't answer questions.
Apparently my Dad's cancer is advanced and has spread to his chest wall. His lungs have filled up with fluid, which explains how awful he's feeling. But they couldn't provide any answers on if they can do anything about the fluid or if (and to what extent) the cancer is treatable. Could this not have waited 2 days for when they meet with the oncologist who can provide some context and answer their questions?! It's insane to me. My Mom is understandably a complete wreck, trying to hold it together for my Dad. I'm so worried for both of them.
DH and I talked about possibly using an extended Presidents Day weekend trip to head down with the boys, but we will make the call after hearing what the doctor says in terms of a prognosis.

Morning! DH has today off so we dropped my car off early for service at the dealership and took the kids out for donuts. We just emailed a Disney travel agent re: planning our visit in March. I officially feel like a mom now 😜 (Hopefully) buying a house and Disney all in one week—goodbye monies, it’s been real. 💸💸💸 You bought a house? I totally missed this! Congratulations! Did you share pics?

Omg cagoldi that phrase 😂 joelies man, I'm sorry, what poor communication skills too. flamingo your Disney trip sounds fun! DW seems much bigger than DL, so i will prob want to go with an agent to make sure we do it right...not that this is for a few years.

He really enjoys cooking, which helps, but my MIL does not cook much so DH grew up seeing his dad do the bulk of it. I think it’s very normal to him to pitch in.

Ugh. They are not too delightful. joelies I’m sorry they keep dropping bad news without being able to answer questions. I’m sorry it’s advanced, but keep in mind that it doesn’t mean treatment won’t help or completely turn things around. I hope he is able to get a thoracentesis so he can hopefully feel a bit better.

I’m so sorry joelies. I know nothing about human medicine but in animals there are diuretics to get fluid out of the lungs. I hope the oncologist is super helpful with all of this and can get your dad feeling more comfortable. Can your brother have you on speaker phone or FaceTime while there?

lahdeedah I have also profited by my sibling not having his shit together. I’ve told my parents many times that they don’t need to give me anything just because they bailed him out but they still do. In the past when it’s been a decent amount we used it for practical things. This time we booked a vacation in Jamaica for next January. I feel a little guilty but I know my dad also wants us to enjoy it. So I would release the guilt. It’s a reward for being responsible. When in life do we ever get those?!

So this is kind of crazy. We’re up to 10 people and counting, from our family Christmas party this Saturday, who just got diagnosed with the flu. No one was sick that day, but one uncle who had been sick previously and he refused to shake anyone’s hand. Just gave them a hello. From grandparents to kids- all ages. Bazaar.
Most of the sick ones were sitting on the opposite sides of the room from where we were sitting, so at least there’s that. My SIL is the only one from our side, but she spent a lot of time mingling on the other side.

I wonder why they feel this way though? Maybe just trying to be fair? Idk. It doesn’t happen often, but this was nice.

I'm so sorry joelies. I hope the oncologist can offer an optimistic treatment plan. Definitely bad timing with that doctor. 😒 I'll be thinking of you and your family.

joelies Anecdote My boss’s wife has had cancer 5 times now. She’s 46. The first time it was stage 4 colon cancer. It continued to spread through her body for the next 6 years. Uterus, lungs, liver and something else I’m forgetting. She’s now been in remission for 18 months. MD Anderson here is amazing. If his insurance can cover it, send him here for treatment.

MH would cook every night but he gets home so late and likes much more unhealthy foods than me! So typically I make the meal and we have things on hand if he wants to make a late night sandwich, spaghetti, ect. We are so different where I wake up eating and am full after dinner and he doesn't eat til lunch and then eats late night.

I finally broke down today and went to urgent care. The pain on one side of my throat is unbearable. It has been like this since the Friday before Christmas but mostly at night. Today it was ALL day. Both flu and strept came back negative and she said my throat looks fine. So Advil and gargling with salt water. We had an nice cocktail party dinner and watched some of the Netflix ball drops. The kids are asleep, and mh and I are in bed planning to finish up Virgin River (anyone toward the end bc I’m annoyed with a plot line)

No guilt!
