I would absolutely faint, pee my pants, and then die if I bumped into Obama somewhere and he spoke to me or my children. My oldest was only a baby in 2016, so while I have seen Obama (thanks Iowa), it was before I was a functioning adult and the impact was less overwhelming than it would be to present day me. My biggest regret was not sending a birth announcement to the White House in 2010.

The card from the Obamas is one of my most prized possessions, no joke. I am so sad I won't have one from the POTUS and FLOTUS (or what should have been POTUS and FG(gentleman)OTUS) for DS2, who was N17.

Each year they sent him a letter wishing them a happy anniversary. One year they wrote back with a personalized note! They treasure it as well. I didn't even think to send an announcement for either of my kids :-(

I refuse to check) a section on the website where you could enter the details and they would send a postcard size congratulations letter. I'll see if I can find it in my camera roll and post a picture. It is pretty standard form but still so wonderful. I would have died from an actual personalized letter.

My oldest daughter was born in November of 2016. We had originally planned to send an announcement to both the Obama Whitehouse and the Clinton Whitehouse but we ended up just sending one to the former for obvious reasons. 💔

Pardon the screenshot, tapa didn’t like my edited version. The envelope was addressed directly to my son. And if you notice, it was postmarked 12/29/16. I cried when we got it, and teared up just looking at it today. PDQ since there are several small thumbnails of the kiddos at the bottom of the screenshot.

I had it tucked in her dresser and one day I found the envelope on the ground in her room and card gone. I never found it. It was after a day where my MIL watched her and my ILs are die hard Rs. I wouldn't be surprised if she threw it away. I refused to get one for C because fuck Trump.

I love my Obama cards that I got for my girls (May 2013 and March 2016). I was happy they were both born in the Obama administration. I have a friend who had an April 2017 baby and sent an announcement to Hillary Clinton anyway. I'm not sure if she got anything back.

cnf Wow. That is terrible. I signed my parents up for a retirement greeting from Obama once just so they'd stop claiming he never did anything for them.

M was born in April 2016 and I cherish the card we got from the Obamas. They still have a section on their site to request a greeting. You know, if you want barackobama.com/greetings/

Yes! Today is my last day of work until April 1. I'm having a baby on Monday. MONDAY. Yay!! So excited for you!! I know people like to talk smack, but Christmas babies are the absolute best! DS was born 3 days after Christmas and that week is my favorite of the year - so much fun and family time. Really late but +1 to this. I'm a Christmas baby and I'm obviously biased but it's the best time of the year for a bithday.

It almost made me relieved I didn’t get a response from Obama because I wouldn’t have gotten one from Trump’s WH for my son.

And Happy Winter Solstice, y'all!! My favorite day in the winter (edit: outside of birthdays and holidays, of course).
Does anyone have any traditions?

Christmas is my half birthday. It's nice because I know every 6 months there will be a celebration. It paces the year really nicely.

I see that Trump finally decided to sign the spending bill late last night so the government is funded through the end of September. And he signed the defense bill which contained the family leave for feds. So very excited about this.

Forgive me since it’s your MIL, but what a bitch if she really threw it away. I mean, this was during a phase where baby E would open and destroy any drawer of things in her sight, so she likely pulled it out along with everything else in there. I should have put it somewhere out of reach for a one year old. But yeah, that means MIL would have put the things back and that somehow never made it back in, so....
