Just left my girl for the first time to go out to dinner and see a comedian. I am not okay with it. I wish I hadn't agreed to it. You can do it! She’ll be just fine for a few hours. She screamed 75% of the 6 hours and refused to eat... so good thing I had a blast because that'll be the last time for a while 🤷♀️ |

Yesterday was the 7th anniversary of Sandy Hook. I still can't believe that our response was to make lockdown drills the norm rather than to enact regulations on gun ownership.
I'm hugging the boys a little extra this weekend.

Morning.
Party day. I normally enjoy entertaining, but TBH I will be so glad when this thing is over...I think I’d actually feel better if it was in my house and I felt like I had a little more control, or something. Oh well, 7 hours from now and I’ll be done 🙌🏻

I'm hugging the boys a little extra this weekend. I was horrified back then, but looking at my own kids now I’m even more horrified. I cannot imagine what those parents went trough that day and forever after. And I’m so sad and sorry that you girls and your kids have to experience lockdown drills, schools are supposed to be safe havens. |

I had the exact response as you did with thinking how disgusting it is that not much has changed (some regulation on the small and local scale, but no major national policy changes). It's so disrespectful for the memory of those poor children and their families. I can't even imagine the heart break. A lot of Americans are fed up and I hope that in the future there's finally some serious action. |

Morning. I’m working in the ER today so that’s a nice change of pace. It’s lightly snowing here today, and it’s so pretty. I tried to sleep in this morning but the girls kept coming into my room to ask me questions because DH was grocery shopping. That’s pretty much all the excitement I have to report on. MH is hungover so he's basically useless. He does need to go to his parents house later to help them with something, he's definitely taking C and L with him!

When it happened I identified more with the teachers bc I taught k and 1st. Now I identify more as the parents. It makes me so angry. I'm glad mom's demand and everytown is picking up steam, but still outrageous that we can't pass basic common sense laws. |

Afternoon - my mil is heading over for the week to watch k, so that will be an adventure. Hoping it goes well since she has 2 more weeks in Jan! We decorated the tree, which is dropping needles an alarming rate -i hope we don't have a wineallthetime dead tree. I got out a little people nativity set that my SIL sent last year but we never opened. My kids have no idea about religion/Christmas story but N is loving it right now. I may take the big kids to a light thing tonight and mh help my MIL with K since she hasn't seen her since she was born. |

Hiiiii. It's been a productive day - laundry and grocery shopping are done, I picked up plenty of wrapping paper, cleaned up the bushes and yard a bit, and finally ran a couple miles outside. I know there are still things to do but I feel like I'm on track. Now we're watching the Vikings at the Chargers. Not a lot of trash talk between DH and Colin yet but DH has accepted it's just not the Chargers' year.
In other news, Colin's tooth is STILL hanging on by a thread and Chase has decided he's a big kid and doesn't need to be taken to the potty anymore. Woohoo!!

We survived the birthday party...we had 10 kids plus my 2, and everyone seemed to have a great time (and almost as important, everyone made it onto base!)
I’m not sure if it was Butthead helping with our party or some random guy, but he was SO friendly, solicitous, etc, it kinda made me wonder if he’d gotten an earful from a boss or whatnot.
Anyway, I feel like the weight of the world is off my shoulders. Thankful it’s over for a year 😅

We had the Jesus situation happen in reverse the other day. We were explaining that Christmas celebrates Jesus's birthday and Cass thought it was bad that we said Jesus. 🤣
