H’s flu test was negative but the dr said there’s a high rate of false negatives and thinks he has it. Who knows.
While I was sitting in the waiting room (for over an hour) H started going to town on his ears. Then I heard all the fluid. Double ear infection and pink eye, too. He prescribed cefdinir so I’ll pick that up after his nap.

Jesus tgrimes. That’s rough b was tested for flu too. Doesn’t have it. But his white blood counts are apparently 38k (Dr said they are usually between 9-14k. Google said 5-10k... either way, yikes) Dr gave him motrin while we waited and the 2 injections (don’t know what they were but he said they are awfully painful). Said if he doesn’t improve and /or doesn’t drink that he will need to be admitted. But we’ve been home about an hour and he’s already eaten and had a cup of water and is a little perkier so I am hopeful

If they work I’d like to check them out for H. We haven’t run blood work in awhile. The pedi I saw today mentioned h’s IgM being low but I told him what the immunologist said and he rolled his eyes. I want all the labs run before the end of the month because when we switch insurance we have to pay out of pocket for them until we meet our deductible.

tgrimes, are they thinking he has selective IgM deficiency? That’s what I think. When I mentioned it to he immunologist he disagreed. The ENT seems to think it could be that, too. The thing is, we tried the prophylactic antibiotic before and it didn’t work. However several people have told me they did it more than once a week, which is what our dosage was.

I asked but Ben was screaming in my ear so I didn’t retain it. I have to go back tomorrow morning and I will ask again He did say they are usually given in the hospital but they had them there so we didn’t have to go I have been thinking we should go to an immunologist as well. He has been sick so much in his life and has been sick more than healthy in 2019. I mean, that’s not normal, right?

At least get some labs run. Maybe he needs another booster of the prevnar or pneumovax.

I left a message with the infectious disease immunologist that we saw in May. I’m not sure if she’ll just refer me back to the regular immunologist or be able to run more tests, etc. the dr the ENT gave me is also an infectious disease immunologist, just not associated with Texas Children’s Hospital.

Thank you note question:
S school doesn’t like you handing anything out at school unless it’s to the whole class. About half his class attended his party (all were invited). Would you A) have him write them and hand them out anyway B) have him write them and figure out how to mail them C) do something generic through the app I invited everyone with
What say ye N13?

jewels I was wondering the same thing WRT thank-you notes (yes, I'm neurotic and already worrying about thank-you notes for a party that's 10+ days away). I think I'm going to send them in and ask the teacher to distribute. Hopefully they can be circumspect so kids don't notice. We have a school directory but it's optional to 'opt in'; I looked up B's class and only about 1/3 of people gave their addresses.

Hello hello. I survived my first day back at the office (which was fine minus my brain literally feeling like mush). More importantly mh and k survived. It is just so validating hearing him say "i don't know how you got anything done", like welcome to having a baby in the house...
We had both well visits for the big kids in the late afternoon, so we met at the doctors. Both kids are doing great - n is 89% for height and j is 93%.
Oh and we were a bit extra and are doing a trial run of the peleton. I was more in favor of doing the hack bike with an iPad, but mh seems to want to try it🤷. It arrives Monday which works out since I can't exercise for a week with my stitches.

We have been at the Drs too. C developed this dry cough on Sunday and literally coughs every few seconds. He’s completely fine otherwise. He went to school yesterday and didn’t get went home but his teacher sent me a note so I brought him to the Dr last night. It’s his pediatricians office but not his regular Dr. The Dr couldn’t find anything wrong (although ran no diagnostics) and diagnosed him with a tic. Like a nervous tic asking me if he had changed or stressors. I felt uncomfortable with this so tonight we went to a walk in. The Dr there had zero bedside manner but did find that C has a double EI and minor bronchitis. He’s been complaining about his ears being full but no pain. So he is now on antibiotics.
Ugh to this time of year!

jewels I would write them and send them in. That’s what I did. The teacher said since the whole class was invited it’s not leaving anyone out which is the purpose of the rule.

I thought letting 10 5/6 year old girlscouts loose in a Target was bad. Well, tonight we took them to the library. Bad idea. They may know the rules of a library, but they certainly don't follow them, at least not when it's the end of the day and they are all together.

I tried giving H honey to help with his cough and he threw it up all over me. That’s karma for me saying I was happy Mark got the brunt of the throw up yesterday.

My ILs came over to watch the girls when I went to work because DH had to work late. I got to work and found out I was training 2 people, which was a headache for me but it was ok. Then DH called me on my way home to inform me he was just leaving work, at 10pm. Definitely didn’t expect that. The ILs left the second I got home. I have a headache and sore throat so I’m going to bed shortly. wedding I hope C is feeling better soon.
