Yay king26. Four new words is exciting. I hope that the speech evaluation goes well and that they take him! I think speech therapy has definitely helped H even though it's only once every two weeks.

king26 4 words in a week is amazing! I really hope he's eligible. The twins have made a lot of progress with their speech, each in their own way. I find that at this age any services can be beneficial.

It's been a while since I've given some updates; things have been busy but good overall!
The twins are doing really well with their services. E has really taken off with the support she's been receiving. She's starting to put together simple sentences. We're hopeful that she'll be nearly caught up by the time she turns 3.
D has also been making a ton of progress in all areas. He's up to about 25 purposeful words, with a new word coming every week or so. He's also been improving with his receptive language and following commands. He's making a ton of eye contact and responding more to his name. He has also stopped mouthing most items and rarely covers his ears anymore. He had his follow up neurology appointment last week and his doc seems really happy with his progress. His services are intense (20hrs ABA- 10 center and 10 at home), 5hrs of speech, 2 of OT per week but we're glad that we've been able to keep up with as many services as possible.
DS1's 5th birthday is coming up. Thankfully, I went with an all inclusive arcade/laser tag place so my prep work is minimal. I have no time or motivation to take on anything else.
Also, we're officially under contract on our first home! We are hoping to close by the end of the month. We're in the appraisal process currently. Hoping everything moves smoothly and we'll be in by the new year.

Such good news ladies! So good to hear from you happyfeet9! king26 thinkchocolate05It’s amazing when they start picking up words. Every new word DH and I are like 😮😄🎉🎊🍾 lol. Now that N is talking a LOT more, it’s so exciting to see him forming very short sentences. It’s still so exciting I’m like “did he just say X” and it’s like yayyyy!! And I praise him so much.

My kid is completely off the rails with sleeping and bedtime. Getting sick did not help at all but WTAF?! I'm at a total loss and feeling soooooooo discouraged about it.

Eva's sleep has completely gone to shit and I can't deal. She will spend an hour just walking back and and forth, constantly trying to wake up Donovan. And she's had long MOTN wake ups. I dont know what to do either.

king26 , happyfeet9 , Sorry you are in the same boat ladies. She does not nap anymore :SOBS: because that was making bedtime even worse! If she does nap in the car or something, she is up till like 10:00. She has been sleeping in my bed since being sick too so that is really wearing me out on top of it all. Last night she just hopped out of bed and wanted to sleep in her chair. This went on till 11:00 and then ended up in my bed at like 2:30 ::ripping my hair out:: I keep hoping its a phase since she was a decent sleeper for the most part before but its been going on for a long time now so it feels like the new norm.

LOL, i know, I feel bad but for some reason in the MOTN, I could completely rage and cannot deal with the shenanigans. Like for some reason an older kid acting up drives me insane! i expect it with a newborn/baby but toddler can knock it off 😂

I'm not glad you guys are having long motn wakeups, but it makes me slightly less wtf. He was just up from 4 to 5:45. I don't get it. He climbs out of the crib up on top of the changing table on the dresser and sits there wailing until one of us comes and gets him. Then he wants to be rocked for like 1.5 hours and I have to sing the wiggles "big red car" over and over and he says "car" every time I stop. He also grabs my hand and puts it on his head so I'll rub his head. Little prince! I think tonight it was the five year old who woke him up screaming for me. My kids are a hot mess at night other than the baby. She sleeps like 6 hour stretches now, thank God.

Last night it was Donovan who was up for 2.5 hours because of his post nasal drip. I tried everything I could but nothing would settle him. And when he finally went to sleep around 3am, Eva made her appearance. She had her pillow in hand and asked for water. I gave her a few sips of water and laid with her for about 30 min. So so tired.

Well sleep is crap here too. Last nights after I got home around 9:30 he was still up so around 10:15 I gave up and brought him into my bed and he still didn’t want to go to sleep so I told him he didn’t have to he just had to lay quietly next to me and let me sleep and eventually he passed out. 🙄

Why dont these kids sleep???? Is it just our kids or what? J is having a harder time going to sleep at night but we cannot skip nap because he gets miserable and still naps an hour an a half or so. I dont know if moving up nap and bedtime would help but its taking 30 minutes for him to go down and hes up so damn early.

R’s sleep has been pretty much the same. 7pm to 6-7am. She has had a cough and we had a couple times last week when she’d cry for a little bit. She’s been pretty horrible overall for a month or so, but seems happier the past two days.
We had T’s kindergarten conference this week and she’s 94th percentile for reading in the whole country.
We put up our Christmas tree and decorated today.

This is great, so many of our are talking. J is picking up so many new words and saying simple sentences we are relaxing a little. All 3 of ours have been battling a nasty virus so I have fallen behind on life.

Lol @ “what does your town do for Preschool”? Things are so different in different areas.
Back in October, we applied to the school associated with my H’s university because he gets 50% off tuition if N gets in. It’s either a half day 5days 8-12 or full day is 8-2. I want to start with 8-12 but DH wants to do 8-2 right away. We will see. We have N’s playgroup interview in February and then I think we we find out in March / April if he got in. 🤞🏼 he gets in because the easiest grade to get accepted into is Nursery 3 and then 9th grade, and I really don’t want to send N to public school on the south side of Chicago. If he doesn’t get in, then we will put him in part time preschool and then have to decide if we should try to apply to nursery 3 again or try for nursery 4, that has way less spots available. Or move to the suburbs to avoid CPS.
😭🙈

That is rough regarding preschool difficulty of getting in addymac. I hope N gets in! We will probably send H to the preschool at our church that ds1 has gone to the past two years. It's either mornings 2 or 3 days a week, but we will probably do 3 days to try to help his speech. The other possibility is that if he transfers from infant and toddlers but still needs services, he might qualify for public preschool at the same school where ds1 will start kindergarten. In any case, he'll need to be potty trained. Yikes! So not ready.

Or move to the suburbs to avoid CPS. 😭🙈 We're in NYC, very similar to Chicago with respect to the educational disparities across districts. The process is pretty much a nightmare and we were holding our breath for months with DS1. For DS1 we sent him out of district to a school that's a 15 minute train ride away because it's significantly better than any school where we currently live. We take him every morning and we pick him up there from his after school program. We toured, interviewed, and told them how we could contribute to the culture and growth of the school. We ranked them #1 and we luckily got in (it's an open district that accepts some out of district students). Now that he's in his 2nd year there, E and D will get priority there for 3K and beyond if we choose to enroll them there. The house that we're under contract with is zoned for one of the top performing schools in the city, so they will have priority there. We are planning to research after school programs and CPSE once we move.

I took nighttime medicine last night and was knocked the fuck out. Slept from 10:20p-4am then rolled over and went back to sleep til 5:40. I didn’t even notice N getting in bed with us haha. My head is killing and I feel so groggy today. I had to drink multiple cups of coffee and I still could fall asleep right now 😴🥴

The only public preschool here is for 4 year olds and it’s by lottery basically. DS has been in a church preschool program for the past couple years and I’m planning to register L for their 3s class on Tues/Thurs next fall. It’s only 9-12 but that’ll give me a whole 6 hrs a week with no kids! Woo! Bc she decided to be stubborn and not be born until September she’s going to end up doing 3 yrs there before kindergarten.
This month is just crazy busy and I somehow need to prepare to host all the Christmas stuff with DHs immediate family. On very little sleep bc apparently most 2 yr olds are little a-hole sleepers. 😴
