We switch every other year and this year is my family. I’m so excited! Good food and ten minutes from home vs raw turkey and an overnight. Unfortunately I am not avoiding the raw turkey entirely as we are having a thanksgiving meal at the in laws Dec 8th. But I’m going to focus on this week. Stretchy pants here I come!!
*i make nothing. My mom needs full control.

Going to my ILs this year, they do Turkey, masked potatoes, corn, and sometimes cottage cheese and applesauce. Nothing fancy. Not sure if I'll bring anything because the first 3 years I brought a side literally no one ate it except MH. Not looking forward to L turning his nose up at everything. I'll be lucky ifnhe takes one bite of turkey. As much as I hate it we'll probably make sure we have a hot dog or something for him. Cs wont eat. He never does at dinners with others. I’ve given up. He’s too distracted to eat with everyone and doesn’t like anything. He will eat a roll and goldfish and I’ll get him something real when we get home.

I'll go to my moms early and prep everything. We'll go to my in laws at noon. Then I'll go to my moms at 3 to finish cooking so we can eat at 4. I'll make pretty much everything for ours. At my mils I just make gravy. She can't to save her life. And I'll bring a dessert probably. My mil told me that if I felt I needed to be with my grandma all day that she completely understood and I could skip hers. I thought it was incredibly thoughtful.

We’re doing it at my house this year, but that’s Dude, too. Usually, we go to my aunt’s, he eats nothing, and by the time we leave he is so hungry that I have to roll through the Taco Bell drive through to grab him a bean burrito for the ride home.

Both of my kids are fine for dinner at home or if we’re at a restaurant, but they never eat anything more than appetizers at family parties— too much to see and too many people to talk to.

Not sure this is my final answer, I may do some more tweaking but this is where I’m at right now:
Breakfast
- cinnamon rolls, sausage and egg strata, broiled pears
Snacking
- not sure yet, I might just see what Trader Joe’s has🤷♀️
Dinner
- Brined, roasted turkey breast - potatoes au gratin - creamed corn - green beans with pan fried shallots - whiskey glazed carrots - cornbread stuffing - buttered rosemary rolls - cranberry orange sauce
Dessert
- Chocolate mouse - pumpkin pie
