😡
On MSNBC just now, @tulsigabbard would not say Bashar al-Assad is a war criminal.
Chris Matthews: “You think it’s an open question?”
Gabbard responds that the ICC adjudicates war crimes.

I watched the highlights and just LT’d like 90% of the posts in here 😂 well done, my friends.
I’m glad Amy did well. Kamala and Cory crushed it. Yang is funny, but how the hell he was there and Castro wasn’t is just mind blowing to me. Bernie is not my jam, but he had some good points. Biden is just... ugh. UGH. Liz did fine, nothing really stood out to me. Tulsi on F&F made me cackle. She might not be a Russian plant, but my God, she does not deserve to be on the stage with actual fucking Democrats. Pete is getting too big for his britches. Steyer needs to go blow his millions elsewhere.
DCs comment about licorice jails killed me.

One of my friends got a meet-and-greet with Warren after the debate! Liz gave her a twitter shout-out. 😁

Oh, fuck you Tulsi. Fuck you so much. I am just now reading this thread and have no idea what this post is in reference to, but I love it anyway.

I didn't watch a minute of it. I will catch up at some point today but I'm glad Kamala had a good night.
I have heart eyes for them.

oh damn isn't Yang correct on this. If a kid's parents can't afford to send him to pre-k, he starts kindergarten already behind, and is playing catch-up from day one. I don't think UBI is the best way to address that, but it's important. I’m not watching, so I don’t know what he said. But can we talk about how kindergarten “prerequisites” are stupid as fuck and not developmentally appropriate. And that even reading at 5 isn’t really developmentally appropriate. These kids are behind because we decided to make the standards ridiculous. But I probably shouldn’t be trusted as a homeschool mom. We've (DH and I) have been saying this for YEARS! It doesn't help that working on ships and having worked on ships, we have lots of non-American friends and whenever we say something about DS's speech delay, they are surprised we are already worried about it. When our nieces and nephews started going to school we were surprised with what they had to know. I'm in a program called Ready! for Kindergarten which is supposed to help parents see what kids are supposed to know before they enter and help them help their kids get ready. They have to know parts of reading like the Title, Author, Top of Page, Page, Words, reading from left to right, etc. for Kindergarten!?! I'd be happy to discuss this with you.

It is so crazy how different things are around the world. Here in Portugal K is more like what we think of preschool and its mixed age 3-6. They don't teach reading at all. Then in 1st grade they start learning to read and write (age 6). So on the one hand they just started learning letters by sight, and also learning how to write them in cursive. It is very interesting. My son is going to have much nicer handwriting than me for sure.

Kindergarten here doesn’t have any hard preparedness requirements - they spend the first quarter just doing letters/sounds and number sense. DS started reading about halfway through kindie, but the way they taught it with a mix of phonics and frequently used sight-words meant that it was pretty painless for him. His school also doesn’t do homework, incorporates lots of hands-on math activities and fun experiments in a STEAM lab, and gives the kids lots of breaks and movement in their day with recesses and PE. I was very worried because I’d heard so many people talk about how K was the new first grade, but that hasn’t been our experience at all. Our neighborhood school is a very joyful place.
