November 13 and it’s snowing in VA. Not cool, weather gods.
What’s up with you today?

Morning!
Sitting outside in the car with C while B is at speech (She’s still coughing so I didn’t want to take her in and spread germs). So we’re just eating donuts, listening to Christmas music, and watching the snow.
I need to make an exchange at Dillards today so hopefully we can get that done after B heads off to school.

My morning was....hectic. The H overslept, so I got out of the shower and Cadence was still asleep. He got up and went to get Cadence up. Next thing I know he's in the bathroom while I try to brush my teeth saying Cadence kicked him in the junk. So I go to her room and she's crying. Apparently, he was pulling her legs or something, she got pissed and kicked him. Honestly, I don't blame her. Yank on my legs and I'm gonna kick you in the nuts too. So then I take her to my room and I'm helping her get dressed and he comes in whining about neck pain. He was fine last night, so I told him he probably just slept on it funny and to take some ibuprofen. He just stared at me. What do you want me to do? I'm not a doctor. I told him if he was in that much pain then to just go to the ER(he isn't, he's just being a damn baby). Pretty sure he'll say he needs to stay home today, but so long as I don't have to here his whining, I really don't care.
Harsh? Maybe. But honestly, he went out last night, so it's his own problem if he is feeling poorly in any way today.
All in all, I got Cadence ready and to school on time AND got to work on time, so I guess our lives are just meant to be hectic.

Yes indeed to the wintry Wednesday. We had a layer of frost on the ground and it looked more like January outside. klong11 Glad you both were still on time. flamingo mmmmm donuts. Hope C is feeling better soon. My cough has gotten worse since the weekend. It was just at night, but now I cough all day long. Annoying!

I’m at work trying not to cough too much. I brought some prescription cough meds with me that I have had since my last bad cold. Of course I have a full schedule of patients. I never have a full schedule in this rotation. I was hoping to have a chance to go sign the paperwork for my car at some point, but don’t know if that will happen today. I may have to drive back up here tomorrow on my day off.

morning!
I am ready for this whiny almost 6 year old behavior to be over. I swear as soon as he doesn't get his way, he's whining like a 3 year old. I have no idea why it's been so bad the past month or so, but I am OVER it.
Is this the weird around birthday behavior? Or the start of kindergarten behavior? Or did my kid suddenly turn into a giant PIA??

B isn't typically whiny, per se, but emotions run very close to the surface lately and he gets upset more easily than he has in the past. For us, a lot of whining seems to be fatigue-related. We always say that the doctor told us whiny kids are acting that way b/c they're tired, and need extra rest. That usually stops the whining in its tracks. If not, we'll have them do some quiet time or put them to bed a bit early.

Hello, I'm at work but my anxiety has been HIGH lately and I feel like I'm fighting off a panic attack. Hoping things stay quiet and I can make it through the day. Other than that, nothing happening over here!

lahdeedah Hope the cough clears out soon! So annoying. Sounds similar to C's...hers started just at night but now it's during the day as well. I've been giving her cough syrup, which has helped some; normally she gets over colds pretty quickly so I'm hoping this one won't linger.

jewels, just let him know you don't understand whine. That's how I put a stop to baby talk and whining. I don't want to hear it and if she wants something she has to say it clearly for me to understand.

M cries at the drop of a hat these days, too. Super fun. Ugh, yes! So. much. crying. I told her to cry for important things, to which she yells, "this IS important things" a few of HER important things: the cat staring at her, mh speaking to her, the tablet needing to be charged, her hands being sticky, being bored, etc. etc. etc.

jewels , just let him know you don't understand whine. That's how I put a stop to baby talk and whining. I don't want to hear it and if she wants something she has to say it clearly for me to understand. I definitely do this. But it's just constant. And annoying. He's like a tiny tyrant who freaks out when he doesn't get his way. And he's usually such a good, easy going kid that it's hard for me. I remind him I don't listen to whining. And I keep giving him tools for if he's struggling, how to help himself. But it's all the time now, out of no where. And as to bed flamingo, he is going to bed at the same time he always has, falls asleep easily (he always has been a great sleeper though, so that's not new), and he wakes up on his own about 30 minutes before he "needs" to get up. So I'm not sure if it's sleep b/c I feel like he'd be sleeping longer if that were the case. I know it's a phase. I know it will pass. I'm just ready for it to pass.

I posted this weekend about thinking this is the most annoying age yet, because of the tantrums, whining, crying, etc. I'm ready for it to be over.
No heat in our offices. I brought a bigger space heater in from home, which has tripped the breaker 3 times this morning. They told me I could go home, I'm giving it one more shot. I'm so annoyed. I do have a small space heater going, but this is just dumb. We aren't doing rocket science here, nothing that important that we all need to be cold in our offices.

It always crushed my soul as I heard that 4, 5, 6, etc were supposed to be easier. But then after a few weeks it got better. Maddie turned 8 this year and it was the first year she wasn't a birthday butthead. #hopeforthefuture

Yess to the whining. Although; M has been much better this week. He is excited his birthday is coming up. Every day he asks how many more days. He loves birthday celebrations so I need to make his day seem really special and important. I have some prep to do tomorrow.

We pay for TKD for a year because it's $$$, but paying all at once we get a discount. Our annual renewal is coming up with a Black Friday deal. Luckily both of the instructors have an eye on the girls as future competitors in the school so they want to be nice to us and keep us around so it sounds like they'll give us a good deal. One instructor also said we're always welcome to use our own key to come practice whenever we want so that was good to know. We have a couple of times, but Scott was worried they wouldn't like it (they have cameras there and check in occasionally on the weekend for security).

We too are in the grumpy phase of things. She’s tired, irritable, and quick to tears. I remember going though the same thing last year. She had about 6 different restaurants sing happy birthday to her this past weekend, and in one video she has such a scowl on her face that if I wasn’t mortified in the moment I would have laughed.
