Hey guys, it's November alreadyyyyy.
DD did okay with the time change, slept until the new 6, so I consider that a win. Then we had her party yesterday so she was more than ready for bed at 7, or maybe it was 7:30.
I made a homemade ice cream cake, it was so good! Take that DQ! DD had a great time in the bouncy castle and running around with her friends.

Wake ups have sucked with DD. 5 am is the new norm. And she’s still got a snotty cold, and now overly tired, so really just a peach.
Just getting ready for our trip.

I can't believe it's November! Yesterday was DD2's bday. My little baby! We are going to Disneyland this weekend to celebrate. We all need a mini vacation, I think. Even if it will be a busy one, haha. DD2 is obsessed with Frozen, so I am especially excited to take her to the show there, and also to meet the characters.

Happy birthday to little thatgolfb! pootsen hopefully everyone adjusts soon! H is out hunting so I’m drinking wine and watching the little mermaid live-it’s actually kind of enjoyable compared to the other “lives” I’ve watched!

These babies not being babies is messing with me. By this time with all the others, I would be ready to drop another. Many weird thoughts.
So I had to call my mom and remind her that today is only my sister’s bday and not A’s. Much confused when I reminded her it is actually tomorrow. 🤦🏻♀️

Happy birthday little DD thatgolfb! I can't believe we have two year olds already. The time change has been great for my boys for bedtime. They are exhausted by the time they go to bed and pass out immediately. Their wake ups are definitely earlier. They were sleeping until 6 and now N is up around 5:15. Not horrible since he used to wake up at that time before. But it was nice when he slept in. His behavior directly corresponds with how much sleep he has had. I have conferences tonight. Basically I saw the boys for less than 30 minutes today. They will be sleeping when I get home. It's a late night and then tomorrow night we have a conference for N. I'm not worried about it, he gets perfect behaviors every day and has really taken off with his learning. It's more of the idea that we now have conferences with his teacher.

They only did the musical numbers live, the rest was watching the cartoon version which apparently people didn’t like but I actually thought it was perfect. Queen Latifah was an amazing Ursula!

Good morning! We are having a small party for C on Saturday and I’m trying to think of what to serve. I’m planning on ordering pizza and doing a make your own salad bar, but I’m stumped on other sides/snacks. Any suggestions?

We are doing a taco bar for E's birthday. I have some vegan and vegetarian family members who will be there and trying to come up with meals that they can have to is so hard. WIth tacos I can have vegetarian beans and fake cheese and they will be all set. Then for N's birthday we are doing a soup and bread bar. I'm going to make a bunch of different kinds of soup and have them out in crockpots. Again, vegan and vegetarian family members will be there.

sarahandben108 those are good ideas! Thanks. I like the idea of an antipasto plate. MH is an adventurous eater like me and my family, but my in-laws are not. No joke, I did a taco bar for our housewarming party and my MIL brought a crockpot of hot beef and buns for sandwiches for their side of the family because tacos are too “spicy”. Like the beef and chicken I had made was definitely not too hot but they just prefer simple flavors and no seasoning.

AND ordering pizza.

Today is my H’s birthday. He had a low key, kid free day. I got him a Bluetooth capable grill thermometer and made him an apple pie. Now we’ve got a fire going and are just enjoying the evening. We’ve got unseasonably cold temps right now so I’m already over winter and it hasn’t even started yet 😭

Yesterday was DD2's birthday. We're having a joint birthday party for both girls this weekend since DD1's birthday is next week.
I'm just plugging away at work. I've felt like I never stop going most days.
And we've been getting snow so winter is here. That's fun.

This weekend has gone too fast! DS1 did a “try hockey for free” day and it was his first time ever on ice skates. He did so good! He’s not 100% sold on wanting to play hockey because he says his butt hurt lol. I’m going to buy some used hockey pads and have him try again, he was seriously good for his first time.
Today I need to brave the grocery store with the two kids 😬 then I plan on watching football and cleaning (but most likely napping while the game is on lol).

Happy Sunday! We had C’s party last night and it was so so nice. I had a couple of glasses of wine to celebrate and wallow in the bittersweet feeling of him growing older. I’m glad we kept it to immediate family because he still got plenty of toys and it was a lot less stressful than a bigger party. He is so cute with his new gifts and has been playing with them all day. His actual birthday is tomorrow and I took off work, I think I’ll take him to get an oil change lol and maybe the library because loves it there.

Happy Birthday to all of the 2 year olds! 😭
L’s birthday is on Saturday and we don’t have much planned. DS1 wants to help me bake him a cake but we may end up heading down to visit my parents next weekend instead. They are about 3.5 hours away. We may just do cake there instead. Who knows. H and DS1 did go to Walmart today to get him a present and he used his birthday money to get a Thomas the Train Super Cruiser which is what I was planning to get L for Christmas so I’m a little back to the drawing board there but they played with it together for an hour so I call that a win. The weather was wonderful today and it is supposed to be cold and rainy tomorrow. Thankfully I’m off for Veterans Day so i plan to mostly stay home and clean the house.

Happy Birthday to all the 2s!!! Can't believe it's happening already!
We took N for his flu shot this weekend and he handled it like a champ. He's been seriously wailing at bedtime lately though - there's nothing obviously wrong (no temp, dirty diaper, injury, etc), so I don't know if this is just normal toddler stuff or maybe a reaction to the shot (she did say he might be a little extra grumpy). DC is closed today but luckily H was off (I'm not), so they're having some daddy-son bonding time.
Question for all of you, especially ones with older children - when did you stop using a monitor? The video feed on ours isn't the best now that his mattress is all the way down (it's supposed to have night vision but it was never that great). Our house isn't that big so hearing him usually isn't an issue, so I don't know if there's any point in trying to replace it, or if we should just cut the cord sooner rather than later.

We stopped using a monitor with DD1 shortly after moving her to a twin bed. Mostly because H talked through it once and it terrified her and she had a hard time having it in the room after that. So maybe at like 2.5 years? The girls share a room now though and we put one in there. She's NOT happy about it, but it's a different one and we've convinced her this one doesn't talk. She still points the lens down a lot though when we're not looking, lol. I don't feel like we need it though, honestly, since they can both get themselves right out of bed. Once we eventually get pregnant again and set up a nursery we'll move it and forgo having one for them.
