Hi. My dad called around nine last night. He had not seen the text until he got back to the house. I visited her this morning and she burst into tears when I walked in. She was in so much pain and had been throwing up and continued to do so while I was there. She was trying to give herself more time between pain meds because she thought that was making her sick but it had been 8hrs and the nurse suspected she was nauseated from the pain. After she got her pain meds and anti nausea meds she felt better.

I was able to talk to the Dr and get a clearer picture of what was happening and where we go from here. He said she has a hole in the upper part of her colon and it’s leaking. Right now the fluid is contained to a pocket, which he described as similar to a blister. If that blister ruptured the contents will empty into her stomach and she would need emergency surgery to prevent sepsis. As of now the antibiotics are doing their job and the fluid is decreasing and her white blood cell count is going down.

The plan tomorrow is to see if she can tolerate food. Once she can eat, have a BM, and her pain is controlled she can go. I suspect it would be sometime over the weekend if all goes well.

One of her sisters came to visit today and my brother is going tonight. I am going again tomorrow afternoon or earlier if needed.

My dad was a wreck yesterday but is doing better today and was relieved I saw the Dr so the entire mental load isn’t on him. My brother is sleeping over their house tonight since he lives in CT so I’m glad he has company.

I still have this overwhelming feeling that something bad is going to happen. Hopefully it’s just anxiety. I have therapy tomorrow so I’ll address it there.

Eta: she can’t take her RA meds because they are immunosuppressants and she will be off of them at least two weeks. Her RA was flaring a bit before but she’s living in fear of that pain in top of this.

Bless her heart wedding, I hope the next few days go well and she can get out of there. Sounds like she will have lots of visitors and it's good you can go up and help take pressure off your dad.
