Tell me about your baby’s naps.
I hadn’t really gotten into any groove because up until now he just went with the flow and would fall asleep easily and was pretty happy overall.
This week he learned to roll, which might be part of the problem because he will immediately do this once he wakes and then get mad (I’m not sure why because he can roll both directions).
Anyway he is on his 4th nap of the day at almost 3pm and I feel like all I’ve done all day is lay him down for naps because he will only sleep in 30 minute increments. At least he’s been falling asleep easily and transferring? I assumed until today that he was waking up because he would hear his brother —- I’ve been mostly holding him for naps... because baby snuggles and last baby and all that...
So have you gotten into a nap routine? What does it look like?

We have an “ideal” routine, which works wonders when he follows it. But lol, he’s 4.5 months and doesn’t care about my routine! So plenty of days follow this loosely, and sometimes he throws the whole idea out the window. When it works though, it works well. Also, we nurse to sleep when we’re together, which I know isn’t everyone’s thing but it works for us.
5:30am tongue stretches, feed, back to bed 7:30am feed, wake time 9:00am feed, down for nap 10:00-10:30am up from nap, feed 12ish feed, down for nap 1:30pm up from nap, tongue stretches, feed Normally another feeding mid afternoon 4ish down for nap 5 up from nap, feed Sometimes cluster feeding in evening 7pm start bedtime, nurse to sleep 9:30pm tongue stretches, nurse back to sleep
The tongue stretches are part of the frenectomy after care. This Thursday is our last day of tongue stretches (yay!) so we’ll see how eliminating the 5:30am wake up affects things. I may still want to keep 9:30pm as a dream feed before I go to bed, since I think it has helped him get to where he’s sleeping through the night,

So DS is in daycare, but I relate to the going from long naps to 3 or 4 short naps. He used to have long naps, now he only naps for at most 30 minutes, 2 times to 3 times a day a daycare, and sometimes 1 time once when he gets home before bed.
He is just so interested in what is going on around him. On weekends we are always on the go, so he just naps when he naps, stroller, car, in the carrier, on the floor, or laying in the bed with me while he nurses. But those are all about 30 minutes, and again, 3 to 4 times a day.
He is 5 months old for reference. This has been going on for maybe a month now? Time kind of runs together, so dont quote me on that.

courtniko, I guess I do kind of remember a pretty long phase of DS1 doing this too. He just gets so grumpy by night time, which is of course when I’m trying to do a million things.

courtniko, I guess I do kind of remember a pretty long phase of DS1 doing this too. He just gets so grumpy by night time, which is of course when I’m trying to do a million things. Both the sleep facebook group, and the breastfeeding face book group I am in have lots of posts about the 4 month sleep regression. It definitely seems to be a thing. And yes, the evening grumpy is tough. I am trying to do a ton of things, and he just wants to be held. I need to be better about baby wearing.
