I'm going to miss the debate live tonight for Moms.
But what are y'alls thoughts going into it? Specifically about Hunter Biden? I hope they dont attack Joe for it. because 45 will do the same thing to any other candidate. But I can see someone like Gabbard pulling something out.
I am really unhappy thats there are 12 candidates on the stage. We need some of these people to step aside, (I'm looking at you Steyer).

I am interested to see which angle Steyer takes. I don't want him in the race but he is a bit of a wild card on his debate tactics so it might be nice to see someone throw a wrench in there. I'm certain he knows he won't be the nominee so I want to know what he's up to.
I read something yesterday that said Biden's camp has been sending the message to the other candidates to leave Hunter out of the debates. I think they should, but it seems weird that he would be sending out a message to folks.
Gabbard really needs to go away. You aren't relevant. But I am sure she'll do her best to make a scene of some sort, just a question of who she will attack to do it.
I think if Liz has a good night, and she is usually really good in the debates, that she has a decent chance of stretching her lead out to a place where it would be hard to catch her. I know that might be controversial this early in the game, but she is starting to pull away in national polls and we all know Biden has been flubbing the debates something fierce.

Having Hunter Biden go on TV the day of the debate was a really dumb decision. He should just go to a bunker until this ielection s over.

I will be appreciating the live blog and recap later! I find it very very stressful to watch the debates. I tolerate it much better mildly filtered and with all of your delightful commentary

Ugh. I’m so over these huge debates. I want to see 6 of these people actually debate issues. But, here we are.

Talking heads have been about it all morning.

I can see why they did have Hunter go on - basically go on the offensive, get your own story out first so there's less speculation, etc. But I think it just created more questions and speculation. Plus any additional fodder for 45 to spew is a negative, even if there is blatant hypocrisy.

I'll be late because I have Moms tonight but I will be in here with you all the second I get home. H has instructions to have the tv tuned to the debate and a big glass of wine ready when I walk in the door lol
(seriously though, the guy is a saint. I'm never home during election season and it's even worse this year bc of Primary work I'm doing and he never bats an eye).
I'm fully prepared for this to be completely stupid because I don't trust NYT and I think CNN have proven that they can't be trusted to host substantive debates.

If we're gonna have 12 candidates next time, I think Andy Cohen should moderate and do it Housewives reunion style.

I'm going to be quite cross with any candidate who lends the whole thing credibility. I know the right wing talking heads are saying Dems will use it against Biden bc he's the presumptive frontrunner but I really don't think that's the case because I think most/all of them realize this is dumb. I mean, I have no problem with anyone saying something to the effect of, "Let's work to tone down nepotism on a broad scale" or something like that, but I will be surprised and appalled if there's not a resounding, "Hunter Biden isn't an issue concerning American voters"

I am not sure if there is enough ibuprofen in the world for me to handle my cramps and a debate with 8,000 people. That's just where I'm at.

I'm hoping that with 12 candidates and Tulsi being on the end, we won't hear too much from her. She needs to go away, as do many others. I wish we were down to 5-6 candidates at this point. I'm excited to see Warren.

I will be straight up PISSED if any of the Dem candidates bring up Hunter Biden. It gives legitimacy to Trump’s accusations.
I’m really hoping they maintain the class and composure that they have had so far (well, with the exception of Tulsi, she’s just batshit), and stick to the politics.
I’m interested to see how Bernie looks and sounds tonight, being so soon after his heart attack.

He made the valid point that he is actually probably in better health now bc he no longer has major arterial blockage.

Why wouldn't he, though? He had stents placed, not a heart transplant. And, here's the chance to reinforce his stamina and health to a wide audience, assuming all has gone well with his recovery, and it appears it has. I'm sorry if I misread the question as pertaining to his health. He's still polling well, last I read. I mean, I don't want him to be the candidate, but I could say the same for most of the folks who will show up on stage tonight.

Unplugging every now and again is probably a great idea for everyone - my poor internist says he never had to tell people to stop reading and watching the news every now and again, for health reasons until the last four years.

You know what I WOULD like to see tonight? A question--even just one--about foreign policy. I don't feel like I've heard much, if any, discussion on foreign policy at any of the debates so far.
And really, the moderators should shine a spotlight on Gabbard and say, "Ok, you've built an entire campaign on opposing military interventionism and pulling our troops out of 'endless wars.' There are real world consequences to those practices playing out right now. So what say you?"

Maybe the escalation with Syria and Turkey will help prompt a few?
