Yesterday I asked Maddie how school was and she proclaimed "Great!...I love my teacher!" Made me so happy. 1st grade was a tougher adjustment than K so I was bracing myself for a difficult month. So glad that's not the case.

I had 15 minutes to make a 10 minute drive on a road that's 55 miles per hour to get M to school on time. I got stuck behind some jackass in a big dump truck. He was doing 40 miles an hour and driving in the middle of the road so I couldn't get around him. We missed the line of kindergarteners going in but the Bell hadnt rung. The receptionist still made him tardy.... I'm going to call. Probably over the top. But seriously, It was 1:06. Bell rings at 1:08. I had 2 minutes.

peachsmama, that's annoying, but unless there's penalties for tardies for kids that young I would let it go. Because what does it really matter?

Judging by my life and my baby, I'm going to need all 7 for legitimate late excuses. I was on time this time, I'm not wasting one.

I finished Jane the Virgin. My thoughts: Overall pleased with how it ended. I would have been annoyed if some nonsense thing happened and stopped the wedding or if Raf dropped over dead.
I found several episodes slow/boring. I don't care about Jane's career as an author and Mateo annoys me so storylines about that make me space off. Jane annoys me too. Rogelio remained my favorite. He's fabulous. He and Xo's relationship is the most pure and healthy in the show. They have great communication. I also grew to love Petra. She's no-nonsense and not such a sap like Jane. I was happy she took full ownership of the Marbella.

I feel like this week had been non-stop. I just put on Peg Plus Cat for the kids so I could have a breather. Anyone else kids just come home cranky? We give Josie time to decompress, eat a snack, watch a show, even take a bath but she hasn’t fallen into a routine just yet, and I can tell it’s throwing her. I’m sure it’ll all be back to normal in a few weeks, but for now I hit the bed each night depleted.

Kick him out? Probably just a letter that gets sent home that you can promptly toss in the recycle bin. Unless they do some punitive BS like withhold recess I would roll my eyes at the secretary. #badinfluence

guster Evie has been in school now for 3.5 weeks and still comes home exhausted. She is in bed around 7 on weeknights, just to try to get enough sleep, and as the week progresses, so does her exhaustion. I can't wait until she gets used to it.

Apparently the truancy officer pays you a visit... And....does he get arrested? I'm actually laughing picturing some big bulky guy in an ill-fitting polo and a trucker cap citing M with being a cumulative 13 minutes late to school over the past 5 months. Come at me bro.

Is it bad that I truly wished K would exhaust M (like everyone promised me it would) and I was really disappointed that she had just as much insane energy as ever. I guess if she keeps up with not needing much sleep she can get a lot done as an adult.

I love my new job so much but it’s been a crazy busy week. DH worked from home though and cleaned the house so that is a nice way to start the weekend.

B had a meltdown yesterday, which is so unlike him. I do think a lot of it is the stress of getting used to a new environment and routine, no matter how much they enjoy it.

inthekitty Thank you for recommending The Bodyguard. It was very nice to see Richard Madden sans clothing again. I didn't even have a thing for him in GoT, but O.M.G. he was delicious in The Body Guard. That character...that accent...imma need a minute. It's like how my weird self has a thing for Wolverine, but Hugh Jackman--meh. He's fine, but he's no Wolverine. I confess that I've watched that scene and several others repeatedly.
