I like the main politics thread to have a place to go for updates throughout the day. And to hear the posters voice as opposed to just scrolling through tweets on twitter. I'd rather keep our format for breaking politics news which is pretty much hourly anyway.
I would love to see an activism thread, or where to donate, or where to volunteer, who to call etc thread.
If there are big breaking news stories like Kushner getting arrested then it needs its own thread.

I would like to see --
Our regular politics threads w/all of our daily updates & discussion
A call to action thread perhaps, where we can post things that are important to contact your reps about ASAP - (a bill they're about to vote on, etc) or other resistance activities.
Threads for any big breaking news that are big enough for discussion about the topic to stand on its own. I do want to suggest that for this type of thread, we drop a link in our regular everyday politics thread-- I think some people, like me, can live in the politics thread for days at a time without peeking out and noticing new threads.

I like the idea of a weekly thread for the general river of crap coming out of the Trump administration and then separate threads for breaking news, specific discussions, upcoming marches and other events, and so on.

Personally I like one thread because conversations emerge which naturally cover several topics, with the exception of big breaking news stories. I think the general thread could be restarted either weekly or daily to keep it from becoming overwhelming to newcomers.
I'll do whatever though.

I would be more inclined to participate in different threads. I go into the huge politics thread and it really is hard to keep up. I think that's cool if there's a big thread like that but still have more topic specific or weekly threads.

I like the idea of having several threads in the politics board. It's easier for others to pop in and join in discussions that interest them, but having them on the politics board keeps the multiple threads from getting lost in the fast pace of general discussion/Parenting.

I like the idea of weekly politics/russiagate/LDN threads and then if there is major news or a topic that really needs its own thread, make one. I think activism type stuff should also be in a separate thread or it may get lost in the mire.
I don't think we need a new thread for every single thing that happens.

I vote main thread (that we can restart weekly) and separate threads for calls to action (anastasia's thread about the upcoming March, one for things to call your reps about, etc). We tried to do spicey time separately and ended up talking about it in two places. Also if something huge breaks, separate thread.

I like one main thread for trump because damn there's a lot. Maybe restart that thread every Monday? And then stories like the racism blog post, Ariana concert etc get their own threads? Seconded.

I am new but I really like the idea of one big cat ball general discussion thread and headline news get their own thread. As a lurker I know I missed a lot of headlines in the old huge threads.

Yeah I think we should have a general politics thread that we restart weekly. Then maybe a call to action thread; i.e. If you live here call about this. Then for big things like the Ariana grande concert separate threads.
Obviously for the separate threads with big news we can try to keep the discussion in that thread but I'm sure we will inevitably get a little crossover betweenmain threads and big news threads. I know how well we stay on topic. 😁

This dude gets off on his online mentions. We cannot have a thread with this name in it. LDN or 45 will suffice.

I like the idea of one main thread that is restarted weekly. Then a separate thread for call to action, breaking news, or possibly live blogs of those testifying on cap hill or other things such as that but not necessarily Spicey. I think his daily briefings aren't that breaking that they deserve their own thread. But if or when Comey testifies, I think something like that should have its own thread.

Not reading the thread, only have a couple minutes to check in, sorry.
As a totally mobile poster, I was a little sad to see this as its own board. There is no sidebar on my view. I can never keep up with 2 communities because I forget to click over to the other one. I liked it when I could keep up with Parenting and Politics in the same place. I was also as that Parenting might no longer be a thing. Basically, I'm an old and scared of change.

I'm usually on tapa and have book marked this board and the "main general discussion" board so I can easily toggle between the two.

That might make it easier. I'll try, thanks!

@dietpepsi, did we ever really discuss the Alb County article that you posted on the politics site? I would really love to discuss that more in depth since it's pretty close to home for me.

At the risk of sounding like the SMs, won't it be clogged up with all the other boards' stuff?

I like the weekly thread for general politics throughout the week, it's much easier to catch up and jump in and out and still feel somewhat caught up.
I also think separate threads for breaking news and some other topics is also a good idea, we will see more people get involved in here.

I can find it and make another thread about it on my lunch break :-) I think it's a good think to discuss. Oh, I can find and post it. I just want sure if it had been discussed ad nauseam yet.
