Team big weekly thread here, with separate threads for especially big breaking stories, like Manchester, etc. I like the idea of a call to action thread too.

As a newcomer I agree with HilarityEnsued. I think it can be super hard to jump into the huge thread and the more important things to discuss kind of get buried sometimes. It's fine for live blogging and discussing tweets and things but I do think separate threads have value. |

Separating it by topics would also probably make it easier for people from other boards to jump in. I think this is the most important difference in approaches. One big thread is easy to keep up with for those of us who are on it all day, live blogging pressers and talking about breaking news as it happens. But it's much harder to entice new posters to jump into that format. So I like the suggestions here for a daily or weekly discussion/liveblog thread, and then separate threads for bigger topics. We will have to be more disciplined about determining when things need to break out into a separate thread, though. |

I like the idea of one main thread that is restarted weekly. Then a separate thread for call to action, breaking news, or possibly live blogs of those testifying on cap hill or other things such as that but not necessarily Spicey. I think his daily briefings aren't that breaking that they deserve their own thread. But if or when Comey testifies, I think something like that should have its own thread. +1 to all of the above. OMG a Spicey time weekly liveblog thread might be awesome. |

I mean, breaking any live blogging out into separate threads will make a lot more sense to people coming into the discussion thread. Unless you know what is being live blogged, it makes no sense to read post after post with what seem like random quotes and cursing.

+whatever to one big long weekly thread and separate ones for big news, etc. Personally I like having the live blogging in the big thread because it's less threads but I'm not stuck on that point.

I like the weekly thread for general politics throughout the week, it's much easier to catch up and jump in and out and still feel somewhat caught up. I also think separate threads for breaking news and some other topics is also a good idea, we will see more people get involved in here. WHERE DID KATE GO?!!!! |

I like the main politics thread to have a place to go for updates throughout the day. And to hear the posters voice as opposed to just scrolling through tweets on twitter. I'd rather keep our format for breaking politics news which is pretty much hourly anyway. I would love to see an activism thread, or where to donate, or where to volunteer, who to call etc thread. If there are big breaking news stories like Kushner getting arrested then it needs its own thread. Please please please, nothing would make me happier than Kushner being arrested. I think if I had to chose- I would rather have him arrested and exposed that even T. Rump deposed. |
