cythe Hugs - days like those suck. I’ve been there, where I’m just totally done with everyone. Hoping the week starts out better for you. danvers You are a good parent...don’t feel bad about keeping your kids healthy and safe. Your SIL always seems crazy to me - it’s not just you. duskymonkey Congrats on selling your place! This is the one in NY, right? Hope the deal closes smoothly!

I’m sick on a business trip. I feel like total crap. And the airline lost my bag, but I should get it this afternoon. H is home with our kids, and H thinks he has the flu. DS1 is okay, but DS2 is congested with a runny nose and cough. Our nanny is healthy, and I am praying she can hold it together until I get back later this week.
All the honey and chamomile tea for me - trying to rally to get my crap done early today, and then more sleeeeeeeep 😴 💤
ETA - H has flu A....ughhh...I bet that’s what I have too. Booooooo.

curmudgeon glad you weren't in the area where Imelda crossed but still lots of damage and it does seem to get worse every year. Taitai Bangkok is such an old city and the Chao Phraya river has historically spilled it's banks and they don't have an established infrastructure to deal with the flooding with modern urban structures. The East coast of my country gets the brunt of the monsoon every year. The people have learnt to live for generations with it and adapted their homes to live through floods and high waters. It still is a tragedy when it happens, nothing escapes the wrath of mother nature. We just have to figure out and learn the best way to live with it. cythe , I am totally cringing at your new heater cost. However was this the cause for all the CO leaking? Well at least it didn't happen in the dead of winter. Upstate NY winters are no joke. danvers , you and your gals are right at home in my house, I am pretty sure all the parents in my neighborhood think I am super parenoid ( not a wrong spelling! ) Also thinking of DD2. ETA. DS recently started drinking "soda" and only when we have company which isn't too often and will sip a little of hubs or mine. He thinks the flavored seltzers are "sodas" It is. The first time I suspect it was our water heater because the previous owners had wrapped it in an illegal "heat wrap" (think giant insulated blanket designed to reduce heat loss) but since its a gas water heater, the blanket actually caused it to not be able to vent the CO properly. The last CO alarm was definitely the boiler though, the gas company was able to get deadly readings coming from 2 points on the heater. So we are just replacing both of them with a fancy new combo tankless heater and water heater. Yay, not dying but ugh my wallet.

Hello! Per usual, it's been a while since I posted. But I'm here now with lots to share! We had DS's second birthday party on Saturday (baby shark themed, super cute). I soaked up every second of getting to celebrate him and had all of the feels about my last baby turning 2!
Speaking of, H has a consultation for his vasectomy on Wednesday. We've met our deductible this year (bittersweet because $$) so it's going to be as cheap as it can be, so we are biting the bullet. Personally, I am too excited to get off of BCP for good. My body is so different post-kids and the pills are just not cutting it.
In an exciting turn of events professionally, the Dean of our school of business asked me to teach an HR class next semester and of course I excepted. I've never taught before (other than giving trainings on campus), but I am passionate about the subject and the students, and very excited to see where this takes me. It's just one class for now, but it gets my foot in the door for whatever may happen in the future.
I hope everyone is doing well! Off to catch up now.

danvers I'm still judging my H's cousin who I've seen let her kids carry around Sonic Route 44s with soda. I still remember when her oldest was just barely walking and he was carrying around a Route 44 chugging it. I just do not get it. My kids only drink water. I will gladly sit on your bench with you. cythe we have screamer, too. DS2 is getting a few more words but when he gets really frustrated, which is often, he balls up his fists and screams out of frustration at the top of his lungs. It seriously causes my ears to ring. I feel bad because I know he's struggling but I also feel bad for my ears.
Oh no Taitai! That's horrible. So sorry, I hope everyone else stays healthy.

CoachTsWife and danvers, I sit on your bench pretty much too. My niece drinks Coke regularly. She just turned 5 and has been drinking it for at least the past two years. My kids get water, juice, and milk. I know some will side-eye the juice as well, but I limit it also. My DD is almost 4 and I just cut up grapes for her on Saturday at the birthday party. I'd rather be judged for that than doing the Heimlich on her.

Happy Monday! I leave for a conference tomorrow. I went to the same one last year, and I was still BFing. I remember pumping in the hotel and freaking out about storing milk on the 4 hour drive home. And now these little guys and girls are turning two! 😭 ...I type as he runs in the bathroom and chunks his cup at me.

duskymonkey Sending you good real estate vibes! I will join you on your bench with all your cut hotdogs, grapes and water. Luckily it’s the status quo around here and we don’t have the judging. I also did first aid refresher training on Friday and so many choking kid stories. Is 2019 over yet? I just found out I got passed over for a transfer to another department at work. I have to find out why because it’s a unionized work environment, not entirely sure how they made the decision because I have the experience and seniority.

You guys. My H is second guessing our girl name choices and I’m panicking a bit. We are team green but have long since picked a boy name. Girls names were hard this go around and we had settled on Eloise. He now is worried nobody will say it right (including himself 🧐?). So I tried to get him to go back to Elise which was my preference anyways and now he thinks he doesn’t like either! My first 2 choices were already shot down for other reasons...Eleanor because my 5 month old niece is Norah and Clara because it’s too close to his aunts name (who is a bit crazy and he doesn’t get along with and doesn’t want her or anyone to think we named a baby after her). Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I think Eloise is a great name! I think everyone knows how to pronounce it - I feel like the Eloise books were pretty popular when we were growing up, right? Hope your H comes around. There’s always Evelyn, which I and cythe also love 😉

doodlemommy oh I like Eloise! It is a name I haven't heard for a very long time. I feel like people will know how to pronounce it. I dig it. Elise is really nice, too. I hope you guys can figure it out soon! Names are so hard, especially for 2nd and 3rd (and so on) kiddos.

I think we are done nursing. I was only nursing DS2 at bedtime and had been slowly decreasing the time and skipping days here and there. I've put him to bed several nights now and he hasn't asked and I haven't offered. I'm mostly ok with it. I've been ready to be done off and on for a while but did not want to rush it since he's my last. I'm happy it was a very natural and organic process. So far I only feel a little big/full but nothing terrible or painful.
I've been pregnant, breastfeeding, or both since Oct 2014. What a journey! I'm equal parts excited for the next phase and sad to leave this phase.

I tried Evelyn when Eleanor was first off the table, H was a no 🤷🏽♀️ If I can’t get him to come back around to Eloise we may actually go with Elsie. He apparently dislikes Elise. We had narrowed the list to Elise/Elsie/Eloise with Ellie as the only “approved” nickname (I am not a nickname person and both our other kids have names that cannot be shortened, although DS’s name technically is a nickname). But who knows, baby could be a boy and this whole discussion is moot. We also do not have a good girl middle name option. We have one (Tina, after his grandma) but it doesn’t flow super well. Our boy name is set and flows nicely and we both like it still. Guess we’ll see what happens in a month or so!

doodlemommy good luck with the naming! I love Eleanor but get why it could be hard with a Norah. I can’t believe It’s only a month! Aren’t all your babes October ones? Taitai the flu 😷 oh no!!!! DD2 got the flu in September here last year and I keep meaning to call about flu shot eligibility because FX we can get the shots in before it her or the states hard! I hope you (and your H) recover quickly!! CoachTsWife such feelz when you’re done nursing and know it’s your last ((hugs)) - lots of new and exciting things ahead as they grow but saying goodbye to that part of your life is always so strange because it was such a big part of life with pregnant/nursing/repeat August Blooms booo to the work situation! I got passed over for some opportunities this summer but found out later it was because we were job hunting and they thought H and I would be gone anyway. Still sucks, especially when you know you’ve got the experience and knowledge to back it up

I’m feeling a little better - thanks for asking! Still weak though, and lots of coughing/nasal congestion. The fever has passed at least. I tried to go to some meetings yesterday, but I had to peace out early, because I was getting shaky and feeling faint. The people at the hotel have been really kind about giving me lots of chamomile tea bags and a water heater, so that’s nice. I am going to try to rally again today and go to some more meetings - hopefully I can last all day. I flew a long way to get here, and I don’t want the trip to be for nothing! Stupid flu-A 😡😷🤧

doodlemommy have you thought about Elena? I’ve always like Elle also but I was a no go for us because we have a one syllable last name. danvers yikes Mountain Dew? I give our kids juice and feel kinda judged for that. I definitely would not do anything with caffeine. That’s all I need is caffeinated children. Sorry I’ve been a dirty lurker lately. Not much new here. Going to the beach this weekend. Hopefully the kids both sleep ok. Jealous of everyone weaning. I want my body back. But I’m too chicken shit to do it.

bootsorhearts1 Hey hey!! Good to see you around here. Weaning is so hard, but you’ll know when the time is right for you. ETA - Also, I dropped like 10 lbs within about 10 days of weaning, so that was kind of nice. All of my pre-pregnancy clothes finally fit totally normal again. So there’s that!

OMG Taitai, that's so great. I tend to hold onto weight while nursing but as we cut out feeding sessions over the last 6-9 months I've slowly gained a small amount of weight. Which is opposite of what I expected. I'd sure love to loose 10 lbs. I think I'm 7 days out and there has been no change so I think I'm going to have to loose weight the regular way.

bootsorhearts1 CoachTsWife I just re-read my post, and hope it didn’t come off as bragging or anything! 😬 I was actually really surprised by the weight loss, although now that I think of it, something similar happened when I weaned DS1, but then I was pregnant with DS2 right away and quickly gained weight for that...extra fast due to the 6 months of strict bed rest 😭 I think for me - the key is that breastfeeding gave me a much stronger appetite, which has now subsided with the weaning. We’ll see how long this lasts though 🤷♀️
