Friday Afternoon We has a membrane sweep which ramped up my BH (or gave me real contractions 🤷🏻♀️).
Saturday At 12:30am I woke up and knew they were real contractions but I was waiting for a perfect 5-1-1. 1:30am: DH woke up & texted the doula and I laboured in our bed because I wanted to sleep more. I then realized I wasn’t going to sleep and told DH we were going downstairs & fill the pool. DH called the midwife and by the time she called back I was in transition. I got in the pool and DH called 911 per the midwife’s instruction so that someone would be there. 3:15-3:30am: I pushed him out but wasn’t able to catch him so I fished him out of the water. Paramedics arrived a minute later, he didn’t cry much and his stats were low so they wanted to take us in but the midwife showed up and checked again and said he was fine so we went back downstairs to birth the placenta because yeah, I was walking around still attached to it. 😂 According to my Mom, she arrived after the paramedics and my doula arrived last. I appreciated the doula’s support with the placenta & PP check though. DH was able to hold DS while she was with me.
6am: DD wakes up and comes downstairs to meet DS.

Wow @kore! Were you scared that you had to push him out essentially alone?

cookswithwine Weirdly no. I worried about pacing & tearing but my tear was very similar to last time. I had strong contractions and it felt instinctual.

That is sooo amazing! I wish I could experience something like that instead of always being induced. I don’t think I could handle it like you did though!! Great job! Did you have a home birth with your first too?

robinanne No it was a hospital birth with morphine. It was probably best since having birthed #2, I was definitely having a gall bladder attack while in labour the first time.
