The policy doesnβt affect children born to US military families who are US citizens. So donβt hold your breath for an uproar. Thread here:
There was a lot of confusion because USCIS posted it without any accompanying info/explanation. And most reporters arenβt immigration experts.

The USCIS spokesperson also used the wording "US citizen parents" in her statement. So I'm not surprised people thought that's what was meant.

I still suspect the ultimate goal is to be able to pick which people become citizens, let's just hope we're able to kick them out long before then.

I have a meeting with Mark Warner's LD tomorrow morning and I'm really hoping the 395 construction traffic doesn't fuck it up

I was born in Germany when my dad was transferred there for three years. So I wouldn't be a US citizen under this rule, but I doubt Germany would just let me be a citizen, so where would that leave me?

crunch or other DC area people. I've noticed that air traffic from Andrews AFB has seemed a bit higher volume than normal and I've been hearing more fighter jets over the last couple of days than usual. Is it just drills? We live in southern VA now. *Tears up* I miss the city

WaPo initially reported and CNN confirmed Trump told staff if they had to do illegal stuff to get his border wall built before 2020, heβd pardon them.

The rule for the military isnβt saying that the kids wonβt qualify for citizenship, just that they donβt qualify for born in the US citizenship. American citizens abroad register their kids for citizenship after birth. It is a bit of a pain and I am questioning having done it now because of my kids new Us tax burdens despite never having lived there. So if they have a citizen parent they are fine.
This might also effect their future ability to be president based on the Obama McCain race. McCain was born on a military base abroad and a bunch of crazies thought Obama was born in Kenya. Both had American parents and qualified for citizenship. One was just considered moreso a citizen due to military base.

My question is why are we adding paperwork/extra steps for people serving in the military or serving the country abroad? I think this policy serves no purpose, and also is the start of more bs incremental change.
I also don't like that anyone would have this hanging over their head. If I were working for the state dept and DT's gov't could potentially deny my kid's citizenship, I would feel vulnerable AF.

I'm not saying that is what is happening today, I just think it is in the Stephen Miller pipeline.

This is absolutely, positively abhorrent People come to MA from around the world to receive life-saving care. Now the Trump admin could be handing sick kids a death sentence along with deportation papers. @uscis must reverse its heartless policy of rejecting all medical deferred action requests. t.co/JtH6fzALwk

Now the Trump admin could be handing sick kids a death sentence along with deportation papers. @uscis must reverse its heartless policy of rejecting all medical deferred action requests. t.co/JtH6fzALwkLet's be honest, they're fine with sick white folks from Europe. THOSE people we should definitely help. The article made me cry. I lived in Dorchester, I've seen the poverty there. Most of the Dot isn't gentrified. My downstairs neighbors in our triple decker were Haitian immigrants. They had 8 or 9 people generally in an apartment that was meant for 4-5 (and really, that's pushing it - I had 2 female roommates but we only had a single bathroom). They hustled like crazy to make ends meat. But the poverty they faced in Boston is a drop in the bucket to what these people would face in their home countries. They certainly weren't living high on the hog just because they were in the United States. The GOP likes to act like they come here and are immediately gifted with Obama phones and healthcare and drivers licenses and food and clothing. Like they don't have to fight through a broken system to get what any decent community would give them because it's fucking humanity and compassion.
